  1. You are in a penthouse so you have access to breakfast and lunch in the charming Il Adagio!

I'll be sailing the SUN again in November, so am also interested in this thread. We're in an aft Penthouse Suite, so get breakfast and lunch for the suites, but I have one question: where is Il Adagio? I've just searched the deck plans, and can't find it. I thought you were talking about the tapas bar, but that is named Las Ramblas. Is this the same place but the name has changed? I remember reading that B & L aren't in Cagneys on the Sun, so want to be sure I know where I'm going, because I look forward to breakfast there every day if I'm in a suite. ;-)

    Thanks!

  2. I was in the suite on the corner, and my sister in the suite next door on our Star cruise in January of 2013; the review is in my signature, complete with many pictures of the two suites.

We loved it, and I'm sure you will, too. The Lavazza machine was used VERY much!!!!!!

I'm jealous of your TA, have a great cruise!

  3. Yea, I know. :( I'm just....um, too busy? LOL. Queen of excuses. No really, I'll call. :o

Give me your dentist's phone number, Kim, I'll call and make you an appointment. Then you don't have to know about it until I call and tell you NOW! go to the dentist NOW!!! :p I know how to deal with people who hate/are afraid of the dentist! Me; I can fall asleep at the dentist as long as they prop my mouth open.

  4. Wonderful information here, and sounds like a great itinerary.

I have one additional suggestion; look to Airbnb for places to stay in some of the cities if you'd like an alternate to regular hotels. Medicalma'am got a flat in Paris for, I think, 5 nights for a really good per-night price later this summer.

And though I love the trains in Europe (traveled on a Euro-rail Pass for 2 months years ago), she tells me that if you just want to jump to another city quickly, some of the flights are a fraction of the train prices.

Have a fabulous trip; I'm jealous!

  5. OK, just got through reading and caught up with you. Whew! Quite some experiences there!

So glad I will be sailing with you on your do-over cruise!

I'm excited about getting back on the Sun, and am sure you will like it, too. It is the first ship I sailed, and I've been wanting to get back on it. Someday hope to sail in one of those amazing aft penthouse suites.

Sure do hope they don't take away the Observation Lounge, as I loved it. It doesn't have the equivalent of the Star Bar, so that's where we often went for drinks.

  6. sreddish,

It was $119.00 for the week. They say they only give out 100 passes, so yes, it would be first come, first served. I have seen others post about day passes, but have never done that myself, so don't know about that. There was a sign-up table in the port area, but I only found it because we were in a suite - it is over near the suite pre-boarding lounge.

On previous cruises, there was a spa attendant in the atrium area, just as we entered the ship. You can look for someone there with the spa pin on and a clipboard. Lacking that, just make your was to the spa when you board and sign up there.

    Happy sailing!

  7. Have you had their French Press coffee from Cagney's/Haven or breakfast/lunch restaurant? That's what I would love to have available for order with breakfast or whenever really. We're not in a suite this coming cruise and it's one of the main things I'll miss, really the only coffee I really enjoyed on the cruise.

Oh well, guess we just have to work at staying in a suite...:D

    Enjoy your mini suite,

    Connie

Yes, we've enjoyed the French press coffee. Also am in love with the Lavaza in the suites. The next cruise were not in a suite so won't have those options.

  8. I say save the Observation Lounge on the Sun!

My opinion is that all the ships sailing Alaska should have an Observation Lounge, or Spinnaker at the front of the ship. That is what they did recently, only had those ships sailing to Alaska. The viewing is beautiful, but sometimes too cold to enjoy out on the open deck, hence "observation" lounge.

For itineraries where the weather is always comfortable enough to be out on deck, then the suites in that location suit the need.

I have made a list of the ships that still have this lounge in the front of the ship, and they are my list of favorite ships to sail. (That and the Great Outdoors in the back.)

  9. We planned a cruise and asked DD, DSIL and DGD to come along. We paid for their balcony cabin, but when NCL had a promotion, DD decided to upgrade to a suite to surprise her DH.

All was well and good, and she enjoyed reveling in the surprise her DH would get until her DH, active military, found out his unit was scheduled for a month-long "roughing it" thingy during the same time of the cruise in preparation for their deployment to Afghanistan. So he did not only not get to be surprised with a suite, he was in the cold, wet January weather in Louisiana roughing it while she and her DD enjoyed the cruise in a suite in the warm Caribbean.

What can you say...............life's not fair!

  10. If you happen to have your latitude number changed by that HSN promo they will re-send more of the travel atlas's...........I have 6 of them here now (3 for me and 3 for hubby). I'm really hoping I don't get more this time around since my latitude number was changed yet again this month with the promotion.

I'm considering taking them on the next cruise and handing them out as prizes or gifts at the meet and greet. :D

    Great idea, Got Tequila?

  11. I am going to ignore the nay-sayers and stick with the OP: A Coffee Card available for purchase would be great. I wonder how much revenue they get from the Atrium Cafe? How much would their sale revenue increase with a coffee card with a set price for a set number of coffee drinks? Bottom line' date=' I bet MANY more people would buy and net profit would increase. Worth a try, NCL?????

Also, in the pre-boarding suite area they could have sampling plates of the afternoon suite treats. You could then better decide and let the butler know what you would like to be delivered each afternoon. That as opposed to him figuring out mid-week what you were eating and just bring that. Sometimes people who are new to the suites have no idea what is available so don't ask. They could be to taste or just to view. They could have cards to fill in what you would like to be delivered, with your name and cabin, that could then be passed to the butler. This would 1) give you what you like/want 2) save NCL $ on less wasted food that is not eaten 3) truly enhance the suite experience 4) Increase your desire to tip the butler. Who wouldn't win in this situation???!!!

    [/size']

I love both of those ideas, too, Medicalma'am!

I agree that the examples of treats in the suite lounge doesn't help people other than those in suites, but it could truly save them money, as you said.

And I've said before that I would love the coffee card idea.

Then that NCL acknowledge the passenger they got ideas from which get implemented with some sort of on-board perk or OBC!
