    This is a concern.

We recently went to a Sandals Resort in Grenada.
The results for our test came by email

about 6 hours before our connecting flight. 😮

    Grenada government said,

“As long as your test was done within  3 days ( not so much 72 hours) ahead of your flight, it is okay .”

    Worth looking in to.

I should have said, we got our test paperwork checked before our “international” flight.

Dear All, We leave from San Diego but transit Chicage.  Wondering when the 72 hour restriction for testing starts.  A Viking agent was not sure but thought from the time we board in Chicago.  That complicates our lives!  any research? or answers?  I have sent a chat to the Icelandic board of health but have not had a responsde yet.  Jo Fuller

I am curious about anyone who has gone to Iceland in the past two months on Viking. We will be traveling on Viking Jupiter at the end of August.  What time does Viking arrive at the port at the end of the cruise? What time can passengers get off the ship? It is about a 45 minute drive to the Airport.  We have a 10 am flight to Boston on the last day.  I am wondering what time the bus will get us to the airport and what the procedure is to getting to our flight on Delta that morning.  Can we check in at a kiosk and get our tickets and proceed to TSA? We will not have any luggage to check.  We use carry on luggage.  What about Covid?  Any testing when we get to airport? Or has it been done on the ship? I just want to make sure we have time to get to our flight.  Thanks, Jenny

    Following.

WE are planning on Jupiter's  Southern Atlantic Crossing,

from Barcelona, on 14 Nov 2021.

Still wondering if it's going to happen.

    (Viking says yes)

First of all, welcome to Cruise Critic.  It’s not hard to navigate the site once you’ve been around for a short time.

There are no “meet & mingle” gatherings being organized by Viking for their followers on Cruise Critic.

It maybe possible to organize an unofficial small gathering if you join the roll call thread for your cruise, and chat with fellow travelers there.  Are you having any problems finding your roll call thread?  If so, reply and state the ship (if not Jupiter ) and date of sailing, and I’ll find the roll call and post a link for you.

    Hope that’s helpful to you.

Like I said, it’s complicated, since Viking doesn’t like us joined up together.

    Keep journalism up together.

Why are you asking the same question twice???

At this point, I understand why delforme would be posting twice. CruiseCritic has now become to complicated for us boomers. And they don't help.

Definitely crazy. But we are doing it anyhow!

Folks on the Venus are having a great time and we're next!

WE booked the “Atlantic Southern Crossing “(14Nov2021) months ago,

    on the Viking Jupiter.

    Now, fully paid, yes...

we are “doing it anyhow” ! 👍

There are two kinds of "Kitchen Table" experiences. One is a shore excursion that one books along with the other shorex. It is not offered on every itinerary or sailing of those that do offer it.

The other is an at-sea day activity; it is an abbreviated version of the shore excursion (no shopping trip😉). If it is going to be offered on your sailing it will be announced on board and you can sign up for it. There is a fee.

Both of these activities are popular and sell out very quickly because of the very limited space available.

    In my humble opinion,

    food is food.

    We’ve done the Kitchen Table.

    It’s just another experience

    you can write home about.

Just think if the ship's cargo was cabbage. The cabbage would be protected by Cabotage. I know, stupid joke but I couldn't stop my fingers on the keyboard in time...

Ha! I was thinking more about, what if this law was applied to goods(like from Walmart). It would be a different world.

We have an Alaskan cruise on the Bliss booked for this June. We still really want to go on the cruise but I am petrified to make flight reservations considering that we have no idea if the cruise will actually happen.  I don't want to make the reservation for flights and be screwed if the sailing doesn't happen. Curious how others who have upcoming cruise plans are handling this.  Thanks!

Last fall, our cruise was cancelled.

Lost our flight money to Qantas.

Filled out a form thru Qantas, for a return of our  money spent on seat upgrade. It was approved. Qantas said we would see it back on our Credit Card within 8 weeks...

that was 5 month ago.   😞

In my opinion, that's a great thing. I didn't know that was a thing. At what age do you not get hangovers anymore?

    Around retirement?

Side note... I actually told my doctor, on a recent medical checkup,

that I think I drink too much.

He said, "In these times, most of us are drinking too much.

    See you in six months."

    I resemble that remark...

Just kidding. I'm much older now so I keep my drunkenness in the bar(s).

Kidding again. I consider myself a responsible drinker of adult beverages. I've learned that hangovers get worse with age.

Funny; I don't get hangovers anymore. Maybe that's not a good thing.

There is quite a difference of opinion on when cruise lines will start to sail from the USA; however I believe that most here on CC agree that they will sail again, it's just a matter of time. Whether that time is 2020, 2021, 2022 no one knows, but let's leave those discussions for another thread.

How about we post here what we are most looking forward to once cruising resumes? I'm most looking forward to.....

    1) The moment I step onboard. It's always a bit magical to feel the hum of the engines underfoot.

    2) Cheering the moment muster ends.

    3) Feeling the ocean breeze with a cool drink in my hand.

    4) Planning.

That may sound weird to most, but I can't bring myself

to plan another cruise just yet and I miss the research.

    5) Watching the webcams when I'm not onboard.

I imagine we will all be quite excited to witness the first USA sailing!!!

That will be a beautiful day.

    Thanks for your Post/Thread.

Catherine and I plan many months ahead .

After many cruises, we have missed our last two.

I believe, half the cruise is the research and looking forward.

We still have one planned/booked for Viking in November of 2021.

I am just hoping to live that long.

use the US bidding site where various travel agents will make different offers to give you the cheapest and best price for your selected Cruise along with the maximum OBC and even other gifts like a speciality dinner, etc

    You are correct.

    Thank you for your opinion.

A few years ago, after much consideration,

    we chose our favorite TA.

    Too bad cruise critic

    won’t let us share opinions.

    Example:

Cruise costs $2000. Princess cancels the cruise and you take the FCC option. Below does not include taxes and fees which would be refunded to you.

    a) You have paid in full the $2000.  You get $2500 in FCCs, your $2000 + 25% bonus. TA gets commission.

    b) You have paid $1800 but not in full. You get $3600 in FCCs, your $1800 + 100% bonus. TA does not commission.

Paying in full benefits the TA. Not paying in full benefits you.

Now of course most people have a much lower deposit in place, often just an FCD worth $100.

In that case, you would get $200 in FCCs, your $100 plus $100 bonus.  But if I use $1900 in gift cards to pay in full, the TA would get the commission and I would get for my $2000 FCCs worth $2500 ($2000+$500 bonus).

But even for that extra $400 in bonus FCC I am not going to spend $1900 on gift cards

    ($1615 from Allstate).

Like I said, too much mumbo-jumbo.

Time to just stay at home.

So, cruising is dead and Carnival Corporation,

    Royal Caribbean International

and MSC are all going under,

    in your opinion?

    At my age,

This is all getting too complicated for me.

Our last cruise was canceled, but insurance was forwarded

to a Viking Jupiter cruise is November, 2021.

    I need/want a Travel Agent I can trust.

    Me thinks we have one.

If she f...ks up, we will be done with cruising.

I have to admit I'm loving being back on Cruise Critic, and I DO miss cruising.

Sorry for being (and staying!) slightly off topic....but I suspect at this point, we're all a little starved for cruise talk!

Cleaning up e-mails at this time...

Catherine and I lost our past two cruises.

We have rescheduled our Southern Atlantic Crossing,

    so, hopefully,

I'll still be alive for the Viking Jupiter,14 NOV 2021.

Cath says, if one of us is not alive,

she's moving to Paris (old joke).😘

Doesn't say that.  Crew close quarters in their cafeteria and social centers enable the virus to move quickly from person to person, even if visible affects were minimal.   Of course, close association and quarters between crew and passengers in places like MBRs tend to be virulent locales for the virus to jump between people.

It was a question. It seems, since many of the crew are food workers, they show the highest number being infected.

WE are having a (big) issue.

Imagine, taking a  youngster to a fair,

and then telling them cotton candy is not good for them.

We are still thinking about cancelling our September cruise and

    are looking/waiting for more information/advice.

I am sometimes accused of being "nonsensical" so disregard what I write.

    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6911e2.htm

Seems food workers were the main spreaders?
