Given your kids' ages, if they weigh at least 40 pounds, you might consider a blow up seat,  We've used those for our grandchildren (now 4 and 8 years old) when they visit.

That’s good info. Didn’t know those things existed!  Our kids don’t meet the 40# requirement though, so full seats are required.

  2. Traveling from hotel near FLL, 2 adults and 2 kids in car seats, 4 & 7.  Looking for transportation option from the hotel to Port of Miami.  Ideally using car seats from transportation provider so we don’t have to fly with and haul around the car seats.  Does anyone know if Uber or Lyft provides car seats?  What about taxis?  Are their shared shuttles the would have them?

At end of the cruise can we use the Carnival bus back to FLL  without car seats?  Would Carnival allow that?  Is it legal on a bus like that?

    Traveling with car seats….ugh!

  3. Carnival doesn’t shuttle to/from Sanford Airport. I’m flying solo & need advice for the cheapest way to get back to Sanford.  Flight isn’t scheduled until 3:30pm on a Saturday.  I’m going to do an Uber estimate this Saturday morning to see what it would be with them, but I would prefer a shared shuttle or a shared ride, as I believe that would be less expensive. TIA

  4. UPDATE!

So sorry, I replied to this not long after my original post, but obviously, you guys don't see it.  I don't know why and hope you can see this one.  My financial software showed 6 entries, but my credit card only shows 1.  I boarded on 10/9 and that's when the original hold was opened, but the final charge didn't happen until I departed on 10/24.  It was a B2B, so maybe they put through a hold every few days?  Also, as it was a caribbean cruise, all money was in USD.  I don't know, but all seems to be well.  Thanks for the help and advice!

  5. I sailed a B2B on the Meraviglia 10/9-10/23/2021.  I see where MSC charged my credit card the same amount 6 times on Oct 24.  By my figuring, that’s 5 times too many.  Anyone else have this happen to them?  I’ve waited a week to see if they straightened it out, but that hasn’t happened.   I’ll call the phone number I have on my paperwork, unless someone here has a more direct phone number or email?

Yeah…I’m trying to figure out what to do for our B2B in November!!

We can certainly test before the first week. But I can’t seem to get a clear answer about the testing process or requirement for the second week.

DO NOT want to be told on embarkation day of the second week that we have to get off and find a test to reboard!  😬

I called last week and also saw a post from someone currently on a B2B, who both said MSC will do the testing in-between.  The person currently sailing also said it was the swab that reaches deep - not just the front of the nostril.

  7. Have some questions after receiving e-docs:

    1.  Regarding the 2nd half of a B2B.  Health Questionnaire asks if you’ve been out of the USA in the past 14 days.  Check yes or no?  Yes is the obvious answer, but what if we don’t get off of the ship on the first cruise?  Will a yes answer flag us for further scrutiny, or will they figure out that it was a B2B and ignore it?

    2.  Under “08.  Main Steps for Embarkation” it says under #3 that a health screening & Covid 19 swab test will be conducted.  Doesn’t qualify that it’s for non-vaccinated.  Further, under #4, it says you must have proof of Travel Protection Plan with Covid coverage.  Once again, it doesn’t qualify that it’s for non-vaccinated either. I have not purchased any MSC insurance, as I’m vaccinated and have other travel insurance.  Am I correct?

    3.  Embarkation window is closed after 1 hour.  What happens if you arrive after that 1 hour?  Do they not allow you to board or do nothing?

    4.  Purchased Fantastica package, but under B2 Balcony Stateroom description, it says “Balcony Aurea”.  What does the “Aurea” mean?

Just trying to wade through a fair amount of confusion with MSC.  As an example, our first cruise is on October 9 and the paperwork clearly states that, but when I log into the app, it says October 10!

Thanks for your help and hope everyone enjoys our cruise!

  8. Seeing some picture of this ship, it looks like there are windows or a round metal strut that appears on what looks like decks 13 & 14 near the front of the ship. We have cabin 13140 booked and I wonder if we will have that obstruction and what it is.  Don’t see it in the cabin description on the deck plans.  Anyone else been forward in a balcony cabin that can answer this for me?  TIA

  9. Question for you knowledgeable MSC cruisers. I have a friend who may join me in my cabin, after final payment. The first big problem is getting her passport renewed in time. I assume she will be able to do that fairly close to the sailing day, if she gets her passport in time. Would she pay the same fare as me or the fair applicable at the time or how does this work if I add her later to my cabin? Does adding her change my fare?  TIA

That's what I did.  I was driving South on US 1 from Port Everglades and Meraviglia was at Terminal H and I parked at Garage J.

Hello fellow Buckeye!  I’m doing a B2B with Carnival Horizon, then MSC Meraviglia.  Do you know if MSC always docks at the eastern end of the port? I am trying to figure out my parking while there,  but I don’t know where they usually dock.  Thanks.

The prior cruise was 11 days, Panama Canal transit so they knew what was happening on board when they sent the email.

Local news reported 20 people taken to ER from last cruise.  I counted at least 25 ambulances this morning but did not see any people taken away, several of them left empty as I was waiting for Uber.  We were first off with self-assist, probably in the first 100 through customs.  I’m already home, live 45 min from the port.

The prior cruise was actually 16 days, not 11. I believe those of us onboard were told on Thursday?  I think we made it to day 14 before the breakout.  I certainly didn't see any manifestation of it before then.  My cabin was on deck 13, where the medical facility entrance is ln the elevator lobby.  I didn't see any uptick in visitors until about that time and, even then, it wasn't a large number.

My stateroom overlooked the pier and I never saw any indication of ambulances or sick passengers from when we docked until I left my stateroom at about 7am for breakfast.  I disembarked about 8am and everything seemed completely normal.

  12. I had expected a $250 credit on a solo, 16 day cruise. I only got 50% credit in the form of $25 and $100 on-board credit certificates.  Two separate  certificates, which I thought was strange. The email said that guests paying single fare are not entitled to full benefits.  I’ve seen discussions on these boards about the various promo codes in the top right hand corner of the cruise confirmation sheets. Mine says,

    ALL4FW

    EASYFARE

    LATITUDE

    SINGLE

I am sailing solo, but believe I did not get any special solo pricing.  Does “SINGLE” mean only one person in the cabin or does it mean single or solo pricing?  Is there a listing of these codes anywhere and what they all mean?  I’m also  receiving double latitude points, but I don’t know if I should have a code on there for that or what it would be.  So confusing.....

  13. Going on the Joy, which has a Concierge level of cabins.  Seems like this is a new thing for the US sailings that is a holdover from Asian sailings. Can’t find much info about this cabin level and it’s benefits, but really interested to know if you would get an additional Latitude point for booking, as do suites and The Haven?  Seems like this ship and cabin configuration is so new that NCL hasn’t addressed it yet (or maybe they won’t!)  Anyone from the Alaskan sailings that can answer this?  Thanks.

  14. The itinerary of Nov 8 Panama canal cruise on the NCL Joy was changed today.  No explanation given, but Costa Rica has been changed to Acapulco, meaning there are now 4 ports in Mexico on this cruise.  The website hasn't been updated to reflect the change, so no shore excursions showing yet.  Looking for info and tips on what to do in Acapulco and how safe you felt, while there.

    Thanks.

Was think of going in February, I drive to the port , have done Miami 3 times looking for something different but it is a long drive from NJ

I sailed out of NOLA this January, excited to see the scenery on the Mississippi.  However, it got dark very early and so I didn’t see much. You would see lights blinking along the way, but I don’t remember any towns or anything else lit up at night that was worthwhile. Plus, it was pretty chilly out in the balcony. All in all, a bust. I was disappointed.

I do believe now with Homeland Security restrictions and requiring ship manifests, you can no longer just walk on less than 10 days to 2 weeks before departure when Homeland Security needs to know the travellers??  Used to be that you could show up at the port the "day of" and get available rooms for very inexpensive to fill the ship (my in laws used to do that all the time) - but not any longer.  Even Thursday before departure (assuming it was a weekend departure) seems unlikely in today's world??

I booked 9 days ahead of a January  sail this year.  No problems at all.
