The transfer bus is usually right around the airport. I'd assume you could use the same wheelchair as you did from the plane and if not, I'm sure Princess know how to secure one. I'd just make sure you put a note in the booking that you need a wheelchair.

Thank you, that helps. We just had our first cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale using the assist after notifying Princess and it worked very well both going on and off the ship. I was concerned about how airport transfers could be managed and happy to see your reply. It's a learning process for us and we are very glad for any information we get here.

Everything is handled by Princess, pick up at the airport, transfer to the hotel, transfer to the pier. In our case pier transfers were at 1pm. Early boarding was not an option. Also the transfer stopped at the few hotels Princess was using. Hotels were high end. Pricing is per person. You can almost certainly find equivalent hotels and transfers at a lower cost. You should investigate both ways.

I am curious how it works if you have airport wheelchair assist to the luggage and then to the meeting point with Princess people. DH walks with a cane but is very slow and cannot walk far. How would we get to the transfer bus?

  3. I have read the new rules about plastic water bottles not allowed to bring on the ship (Nieuw Statendam). We will arrive by Cruise Connection bus in FLL, probably by 1 pm, our boarding time is posted for 3:20 pm, so no food until then.

We definitely will need to bring a snack, will we also be able to bring some bottled water to drink while we are waiting to board?

Gratuities, tips, incentives go to those on contracts (room stewards, waiters, etc) with the cruise line.  Officers and are not included.  I once had "left over" foreign currency ( to local) heading home and could not find anyplace on board to leave as gratuity.  Asked the officer at the gangway if he would do that and he steadfastly refused to touch the money (we did find a place at the airport...).  He obviously didn't want it to be viewed as a gratuity/tip/incentive.

Princess used to have a globe shaped piggy bank on the desk at the purser's location where you could drop in unneeded foreign currency. I believe they donated those funds to a charitable organization.

Believe you have some options that include accepting the FCC + the FCC bonus, or requesting a refund. If my assumption is correct then if you request the refund believe you can ask for the FCD's to be refunded to you or placed back into you account. If you accept the FCC option + bonus (25%) then the FCD's are considered cash and are converted to $200 FCC + the bonus FCC which is probably $50 total.

Yes, that is my understanding. So now I just have to decide what our chances are to cruise before the converted FCC expire in May 2022. Thank you.

  6. Princess cancelled the October 2021 TA I had booked using an FCD which will expire in March 2021. If I take the offer of an FCC with bonus to be used by May 2022, what will happen with the original FCD when it expires next March - convert to FCC? refund to credit card? I'm trying to understand my options. Thanks.
