Last year I booked directly with Royal, redeemed av$250 obc, then transferred my booking to my TA for their perks. This year, since we were already past final payment when booking, the best deal was with the TA. I tried to add the $100 obc but was denied because my TA had us booked thru a group rate (and obc). It does state in the fine print that if booked with a TA, it can’t be combined with a group rate.
Of course, the week after I booked, they came out with the 10% reward. That would have been the best savings. YMMV

I would but there are none available for the time we want. Not sure if they keep some open for booking on board or if those times are really full?
-
Why make reservations knowing you won't show up ? You will likely get the same area/waiters anyway.
Sorry, I wasn’t clear. I meant reservations for nights 3-9, hopefully for the same time and table.

going on 9 day NE/Canada cruise in September. We will be dining in specialty restaurants the first 2 nights, the MTD the rest. I want to validate that we should make reservations for the time we want when we board even if we won’t be dining there the first 2 nights? We are only a party of 4 but do like to have the same waiters each night like traditional dining.

I did with my previous cruise and then transferred my booking to my TA for free gratuities but it’s too late to do that since it’s past final payment. And the free gratuities were a better deal than the obc or 5%.
I just booked today.

Can the OBC reward be applied to a reservation made with a travel agent?

Are you a TA? I've been checking on a couple of sites and they are showing not available, Maybe because I'm solo. Where is the D3 that you saw. Maybe they would still let me change, even though it's a cabin for 3 or 4. The only thing I'm seeing is a Grand Loft.
Not a TA. Been looking on a cruise site for a possible upgrade opportunity but other than a few suites here and there it's been sold out for quite a while. PM me and I can give you the name.

So far the ship is still showing sold out. I keep checking because I would love to change (pay) to a better cabin. I've been checking for over 6 weeks long before Irma. I was hoping people were going to be cancelling, but so far no such luck.
Just checked and there is a handicapped OV, D3 and Grand Loft available.

New update, we are the only one with no decision...
September 5, 2017 at 9:30 PM EDT (next update tomorrow at 11 AM EDT)
We are closely monitoring Hurricane Irma’s path and its potential impact to our current and upcoming sailings. Royal Caribbean’s Chief Meteorologist, James Van Fleet, is closely tracking the storm’s progress, and the current forecast is as follows:
Hurricane Irma is a category 5 hurricane with sustained winds around the center at 185 mph and is currently located about 210 miles east of Antigua. The storm continues its westerly track at 15 mph. While it is difficult to predict the path of the storm at this time, it is likely that Irma will impact Florida at some point this weekend.
In an effort to give you advance notice of any changes while also taking into account the most accurate forecast information, we will be providing updates on any impacted sailings no later than 2 days in advance of departure.
NEW: For guests on the current sailings of Oasis, Harmony and Allure of the Seas, we have decided to delay the return of these ships until the storm has passed. Due to the unpredictability of the storm, we plan to keep all of our guests currently sailing on these ships safely out of harm’s way.
The following sailings are departing as scheduled:
Adventure of the Seas: September 9 Southern Caribbean cruise
Grandeur of the Seas: September 7 New England/Canada cruise
Liberty of the Seas: September 10 Western Caribbean cruise
Serenade of the Seas: September 10 New England/Canada cruise
Vision of the Seas: September 7 New England/Canada cruise
The following sailings are canceled:
NEW: Empress of the Seas: September 9 Cuba cruise
Enchantment of the Seas: September 8 Bahamas cruise
Majesty of the Seas: September 8 Bahamas cruise
We are very sorry for the impact this storm has had on your vacation and please know that we made the decision with the safety and comfort of our guests and crew in mind. The cruise fare and fees will be 100% refunded to the original form of payment, and we are also offering a 25% future cruise credit, based on the cruise fare, if a new cruise is booked in the next 30 days. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to call 1-800-256-6649.
NEW: The following sailings are being modified:
Allure of the Seas: September 10 Western Caribbean cruise
The new departure date will be on Wednesday, 9/13 and we will sail a 4-night itinerary to Nassau, Bahamas. We know this change is disappointing, and we are truly sorry for the storm’s impact on your vacation. Should you choose to sail with us we will provide you with a refund of 50% of your cruise fare paid in the form of a refundable onboard credit, and an additional 50% future cruise credit.
If you are unable to travel and need to cancel next week’s cruise, we will provide you with a 100% future cruise credit. Pre-booked shore excursions will be refunded to your original form of payment, and you will have the ability to book excursions in our new port of call once onboard.
Harmony of the Seas: September 9 Eastern Caribbean cruise
The new departure date will be on Tuesday, 9/12 and we will sail a 4-night itinerary to Cozumel, Mexico. We know this change is disappointing, and we are truly sorry.
Oasis of the Seas: September 10 Eastern Caribbean cruise
The new departure date will now be on Tuesday, 9/12 and we will sail a 5-night itinerary to Costa Maya and Cozumel, Mexico. We know this change is disappointing, and we are truly sorry. Should you choose to sail with us we will provide you with a refund of 30% of your cruise fare paid in the form of a refundable onboard credit, and an additional 50% future cruise credit.
If you are unable to travel and need to cancel next week’s cruise, we will provide you with a 100% future cruise credit. Pre-booked shore excursions will be refunded to your original form of payment, and you will have the ability to book excursions in our new ports of call once onboard.
The following sailing is still being evaluated and we will provide further details in our 11 AM EDT update:
Anthem of the Seas: September 9 Bermuda cruise
For all guests currently sailing with us, the Captain and team onboard will be providing you specific updates at 1 pm and 615 pm daily, and of course will update you immediately if anything changes.
Should we need to make additional itinerary changes or cancel an additional sailing to avoid the storm, we will reach out to guests directly, as well as update our website and social media feeds immediately. Please know that the safety and comfort of our guests are our top priority and we will continue to provide regular updates throughout the week.
For more frequent updates, please follow our meteorologist on Twitter @JamesVanFleet or visit the Royal Caribbean Facebook page.

Hello, all you September 9th Anthem people....we are now on a "watch" status for sailing....not due to Irma, but Jose who is close behind....believe there will be an update at 6PM tonight.....
I believe that Jose is going to a bigger issue for our sailing than Irma will be.

Does anyone have links to excursions for Canada ports if we end up going north. Never had a desire to sail New England or Canada so have little info on excursion options.

I have used the parking garage in Bayonne, and it is very safe. Several years ago, before they built the new parking garage and terminal, I did have to "sue" as my car was parked in an open lot and got overspray of paint from the Bayonne Shipbuilding and Drydock which is right near the parking lot.
Didn't really sue, but filed a claim with the company's insurance company to have my car detailed without any problems.
We had the same issue several years ago when it was an open lot. We will be sailing from there in 2 weeks and plan to park in the garage. I have no worries of the issue repeating.

138east is correct about the ways of getting to your appointment. You will be on 18 st between 6th and 7th Ave. Both routes should take you ~1-1.5 hours to get there.
Option 1) Drive to Secaucus Junction (15X on the turnpike), take NJ transit to NY Penn Station (final stop), hop on the 1 subway line (this is the red line on Seventh Ave) and get off at 18 st. Walk towards 6th Ave and your destination.
Option 2) Grab the Hudson Bergen Light Rail (34th or 45 St Station, not sure which one is right outside the Port), either get off at the Newport Light Rail Station or Hoboken Terminal and transfer over the PATH train heading to 33rd St. Get off at 14th St and walk north on 6th Ave for four blocks and turn left on 18th St and walk to your destination.
Option 1 is simpler in my mind and has less walking involved.
Also forgot to mention, the company is paying for transport. Are Car service, lyft or uber options?

Either route would work for you to get to Chelsea, but the train might be preferable as long as there are not significant delays getting into Penn Station on NJ transit that morning. From Penn Station you can take the 7th Ave #1 local train to 18th St and be a half block from your destination. On the NJ Turnpike you follow the signs to the Lincoln Tunnel and exit 15X (not the GW Bridge signs). The Secaucus Junction train station is right at this exit and your husband can get right back on the turnpike.
If you decide to take the light rail (may be more crowded), we will have to get suggestions from the locals. There is a station at 34th St and one at 45th St, but I'm unsure of the exact vehicle directions. You buy a ticket ($2.25) from the machine and ride to the end of the line in Hoboken (may get a seat depending on the time). In Hoboken you take PATH for $2.75 to 14th St (should get a seat) and walk 4 1/2 blocks to your destination.
Thank you very much. I am also going to get suggestions from the team I am meeting with as many commute in from the Jersey side (now I have Springsteen stuck in my head. Lol)

The meeting is at 135 west 18th. It is starting at 10:00 but they know I'll prob be late. We normally travel over the GW to get home. Yes he'll have all the luggage, I'll just have my purse and computer bag.

I may have to go to a business meeting in the city on the day we arrive back in Bayonne next month. Wondering how long an uber or cab could be and approximate cost on a Thursday morning.
Husband will be driving back to Ct but does not want to drive thru the city. If there are other options where he can drop me off on the NJ side that would not take him too far out of his way, I would also consider it.

I was on in April and they had Blackjack, 3 Card Poker, Let it Ride, Ultimate Texas Hold 'Em, and a Baccarat table that was never open. There was also a poker table and I think 3 roulette wheels. I did not see a Caribbean Stud Poker table.
What were the table minimums? Enjoy Let it Ride but prefer a $5 min. On a recent NCL sailing the table sat empty at $10 for the first 2 days. Once they dropped it to $5 it was consistently full.

Several years ago we were notified of the itinerary change (Eastern to Western) as we were pulling out of port canaveral on Disney. A crazy scramble to reboot excursions but we went with the flow.

I was on the Anthem to Bermuda July 15-20th. They had at least three Bingo sessions at various times on our 5 day cruise. As Zedinc said, the packages ranged from $29 ( 3 paper chances) to $69 for a tablet that automatically tracked the game for you. The bingo markers were $3. They did a special $10 one-game-only Bingo (in addition to the three other full bingo sessions) before the love and marriage show. Shout out to Jacob, who made the games very fun, and Bernardo, who was so nice. Thanks guys!
Thank you for the recent details. Interesting that they use markers. On all the past cruises I've been on they has the perforated cards that you pushed back. Guess I'll be packing dabbers. Lol.

Virtual Balcony to Jr Suite?
in Royal Caribbean International

I assume that you would have to have booked directly with Royal to get this type of potential offer? Or would they reach out to your TA, if booked with an agent?
