  1. I looked into this thread partly for *curiosity* and partly because I'm wondering how do the line and employees respond to people walking around w/o clothes on maybe getting a bit frisky? I can imagine many having religious or cultural qualms about that sort of libertine behavior (strictly speaking of the staff). Is there etiquette/rules of maybe keeping the "hot action" out of the public areas?

Sorry if my Qs seem silly, I can imagine myself in a staffer's shoes and thinking "oy vey, I'm going to have to wipe that seat again" :D

We used to do several LS cruises that were not full ship takeovers, but I imagine there is not a lot of difference. As has been mentioned for theme cruises, lifestyle, nude, ect. the staff volunteers. And most are quick to volunteer because people on these cruises tend to tip much better and to treat the staff better.

On one cruise we had a suite and there were three of us staying in it. We found out from the staff assigned to our room that they did not normally handle these rooms but that the normal staff did not want to be in "our area" so were re-assigned for this cruise. The staff assigned to us went out of their way to make everything as nice as possible, including getting bowls for us to put M&M's and snacks in and arranging the smuggled aboard alcohol for us. They also asked us several questions, the first ones were mainly about how we wanted the room and sleeping arrangements, then about our group and how things worked. At the end of the cruise they told us that our area had actually had less problems for the staff than normal.

On a different cruise we had a free cocktail hour in the back bar, after the hour most of us stayed in the area even though it was open to everyone. The next night most of us congregated there since it was a good meeting area. The bartenders kicked a couple of girls off the bar who sat on it and said some disrespectful things which became heated. The hotel manager (guest crew boss on the ship - as opposed to captain who is ship's crew boss) came to the bar, listened to both sides, called the bartenders from the night before and replaced the ones in the bar. They were the assigned bartenders for that bar for the rest of the cruise. The first night that bar made as much as it does on an entire normal cruise, the bartenders WANTED to come back to us.

Carnival used to have a topless area. This was normally nude for the partial LS cruises. No staff ever complained, it was actually the opposite, there was a constant stream of staff coming up to take drink orders. They would come up one side, walk around to the other and get 3-4 orders a trip, them come back up to deliver and get the next 3-4 orders. Even though there was no staff service on the topless decks normally.

  2. In addition to geocaching you may want to check out the Google game "Ingress". It requires you to go to real world locations based on your phone's GPS in order to play the game. Many of the locations are historical or artistic sites/items.

  3. How can you find out if a ship has a CO area before you book the cruise?

Check the deck plans and look for "freestyle" or "C/O" decks. Or just call and ask about clothing optional areas or European style bathing areas. I know Costa allows topless in all sun deck areas, but you have to be accepting of everything else being excessively European. Some of NCL's ships have the freestyle decks. And Celebrity M class ships have C/O decks.

  4. It will be interesting to see what the cruise lines do about nudity after the recent YOLO cruise. With sales of everything declining an adult nude cruise almost doubled Carnival's normal sales of alcohol, even forcing the ship to be restocked at sea by other CCL ships twice.

  5. All Costa ships offer topless or Euro sunbathing on all sun decks.

You can still get away with topless on Carnival ships, just like any other line, until someone complains. On our Miracle cruise someone complained and they kept going through the area telling people they couldn't be topless. If one of the Carnival ships still has a marked topless area I would love to know about it.

  6. Some NCL ships have a freestyle deck, and yes both men and women have the option of going nude.

Carnival no longer has a topless decks as of Feb 22nd, 2007

As far as I know NCL is the only line that offers true CO travel for non-charted cruises.

  7. CanadianTwosome, as you stated it is not an argument that can be won. Closed minded people will be closed minded people. Regardless of if they are racists, sexists, prudes, or and other type of closed minded people. They believe the world should conform to their personal beliefs regardless of the basis of those beliefs.

As for taking the comments as rude, we don't. We just accept that some people have strange opinions on what is and is not acceptable. Sort of like the grandmother that sued over Grand Theft Auto that she bought for her grandson. Apparently it was OK for him to pretend to be a drug dealer, kill innocent people, kill police officers, steal cars, beat up hookers, and do drugs, but when she found out a code would unlock digital nudity the game was totally unacceptable. Personally we find violence and those who expose and desensitize children to violence through TV, movies, and games to be far less acceptable than the human body, which we consider to be a work of art and a wonder of creation.

  8. CanadianTwosome, the chain is not bad to sit on at all, but you do need to get one of the very tight weaves or you have the same problem you do with fishnets. That dress was designed by Things From Rings, they do a lot of custom outfits in both regular metal and silver, that dress goes for about $1500 but it would be less if it didn't use so much silver for some of it's areas. The two modesty panels built in are wonderful for preventing accidental exposure and the biggest problem is actually catching the bottom on things when walking. The other thing we had changed was in the back, the original design did not initially appear to be as low as it turned out to be, so it was adjusted to be higher as well.

  9. FYI,

I called Carnival today to book the Paradise for 12/07. The PVP I talked to (new to me as my old one left) flatly denied this information. She said that if the Paradise casino had gone smokeless, they would be the first to know. Even when I told her I had read an email from the CD, she implied it was a lie as they (I assume PVP's) would have known. Never could convince her otherwise. She did mention that they have now made all the area around the pool smokefree which I didn't realize. In fact when I sat briefly on a chair by the pool, there was a full ashtray under my chair. Someone needs to enlighten PVP's, or at least this one...I tried but didn't do it!

I called about the Elation after it was mentioned on CC about her moving to the west coast and was told Carnival had no plans to change her itinerary. I called back about 20 minutes later and was told by someone else it had been announced that morning.

I called the day after I heard about no more F-decks starting Feb 22nd and was told that the PVP had heard nothing about that.

Don't trust PVP's, they really have no idea what they are talking about. And it's not just Carnival either.

  10. I believe everyone know's it is bad for a Child's health. But Children are not in the Casino.

Haven't been on a cruise yet that I did not see kids in the casino. On the Miracle you have to go through the casino to get from the front to the back of the ship on that level so kids were always going through it. And many stayed in it with their parents.

  11. Why would you post another thread about this.. this is a TRIAL.. your post is mis-leading:rolleyes:

They tried removing the topless deck on the Holiday and no one complained. So they took it off all the ships.

Smoking is bad for children's health and Carnival doesn't want anything that might be bad for "families".
