  1. The value is there, only for those who drink alcohol. For those of us who don't drink (health issues, AA, etc), those packages are worthless, and have lessened our experience AND value!
  2. Sticker Shock??? YUP, everything is higher since Covid and our current inflation rate is not helping! I have family who rent a motel on the beach here in South Orange County, and are now paying over $400 per night.... that's ROOM only, no food or entertainment. I checked hotel rooms in Hawaii during our last cruise... Turtle Bay Resort on OAHU, starts at $500 per night... ROOM, no food. We just ate at DEL TACO today, and it was $21 dollars for two burritos!! Talk about sticker shock!! Dollar for dollar, cruising is still the best deal in town. We've looked at comparable cruise lines, and Princess is in the ball park cost wise for the Itineraries we require. And since we are Elites on Princess, it doesn't pay to save a few bucks by jumping ship to another Cruise
  3. Congrats!! keep us posted if you see any price drops., probably won't be for a while, but we've got 2 years, and it does happen.
  4. Finally!!! Princess is offering the 16 day Alaska cruise - Round Trip - out of Los Angeles! We had this one booked in 2020... and then COVID changed our lives!! We booked this morning!
  5. My only complaint so far is the room condition. Bed is horrible. We were on the Sapphire 3 months ago and the bed was fabulous. They obviously have not updated the interiors of the Emerald cabins in a long time. Bed table and lamps are horrible! As for the food, I have no complaints. After cruising for over 20 years, i’ve learned what to order and what to stay away from. We also like Celebrity but they’ve pulled out of the Los Angeles area for a temporary and if we want to take a Celebrity Cruises we need to go to San Diego. We rarely fly these days, so we are limited to local ports.
  6. Thanks for the clarification!! Any case is one too many !
  7. Looks like the Emerald just had a Noro Virus issue in April of this year!
  8. we were sitting in the dining room last night when the announcement was made and I asked our table mates… did he say 700? They said, no he said SEVERAL cases. But you did hear 700?? I couldn’t tell… his accent is strong
  9. We were on a HAL Tahiti cruise many years ago with an Astronomer on board. They turned off ALL the ship lights and it was amazing. Being from SoCal… you never get to see the stars. I wish PAX would at least turn off their BALCONY lights at night. That would even help. Speaking of lights…. Anyone else tired of that CLOTHES area light with the sensor?? That thing kept coming on and off the other night by itself. I moved all the clothes to one side, it still didn’t help. I’m not sure what was setting it off. I finally put something over the sensor and that seemed to work.
  10. The WHITE FLOUR CAPER has just hit the PIZZA joint!! They are making their pizza with BROWN FLOUR!! Can’t wait for the Brown Flour Peanut Butter cookies!!
  11. Ooops!! I just wanted to correct my comment. I said CARIBE…. We’re on BAJA!! We normally get a cabin on Caribe, but not this time.
  12. We are in the 600s on CARIBE and now have TWO down the hall that were not there this morning. I’m thinking more NORO than Covid…. But hey, what do I know. I think I’ll stay on my balcony tomorrow!!
  13. Anyone catch the Rainbow this morning? It was impressive
  14. Kauai ahead…. One of the most beautiful ports in my opinion….
  15. Wow, I didn’t know they did something like that. I would think they’d want to keep it on the QT…
  16. We ate at LeiLani’s by the Sea today. Leilani’s, Hula Grill and Kimos, all owned by the same corporation, and all have great food!! We also had HULA pie today
  17. Curious why you think the patio footstool would mean someone is sick?? we have a balcony on deck 11, that there were NO footstools, so I asked our Room Steward for 2… we were in and he dropped them off. Maybe the same issue??? But, they left it at the door???
  18. I watch a few on YouTube... not familiar with Dee and Jay!
  19. Aloha!! we are also looking forward to this cruise! I believe we have also cruised to Hawaii around 14 times, mostly Princess, but also HAL, Celebrity, and Queen Victoria. We have friends and family on the Islands and will get to spend some time with them. We were just there in March, but missed two ports, Kauai and Maui. We've seen just about everything we want on the Islands over the years, so no excursions... but, we are renting a car on HILO, and other than that... we'll just see how it goes once we get there. I was also surprised at the extra SEA DAY, but gladly welcome it. In years past, KONA was a 5th stop with a night cruise by the Volcano, but they seem to have stopped that a few years go. This will be our FIRST time on the Emerald and are looking forward to the larger ship.
  20. And there is nothing wrong with the way you like to enjoy your cruise!!
