I agree with the others, do a little research. HOWEVER, I can let you know what I'm doing for our upcoming Venice trip.
Based on my research/wants/desires, I picked Locanda al Corte based on the following:
- Location (near sites but not in high traffic area)
- Smallish/personalized hotel
- Private dock
- Had triple rooms
- Free breakfast/wifi
- Had courtyard for outdoor breakfast/wine drinking
- Affordable (less than 500 E for 3 nights for 3 of us)- booked directly with hotel for best rate!
I have arranged a private water taxi from the airport and it'll take us directly to the hotel's dock! For us 3 plus my in laws (who are elderly), it'll cost 100 Euros. Will arrange transport to the cruise ship as well most likely.
This sounds like what I'm looking for.

I have the dailies from the Dawn 12/7-12/14. I have no idea how to post pictures here, but would be happy to text or email them to you. I have the kids program papers also. We wrote on them, but it still might be helpful for you.
I would really appreciate an email of the Dawn dailies. My email is:
Many thanks

Why? I think French Quarter and the areas by the river are awesome.
Your right, there awesome. HOWEVER, when you live here you know that going to the Quarter is a pain in the a@#. Especially trying to park your car. Not to say you don't go down there for a special function, or to visit a certain restaurant, or for Marde Gras, but you will find most locals do not make a habit of going to the quarter. There are FANTASTIC placrs outside the quarter to drink, eat, listen to music and just have a good time.

There's a chance. And with all the art galleries by the port.
The shops in the CBD and uptown would love it. As for me, I stay away from downtown. I will miss the Royal option for cruising out of New Orleans. I guess I will have to wait for Disney to come calling.

I live in New Orleans. I have sailed out of here on both NCL and RCCL. I personally think that Royal ran into trouble here when they brought small, older ships to this market while Carnival and NCL have been bringing larger, nicer and newer ships in. RCCL just can't compete with the others.

We are sailing on the Getaway this weekend. Does anyone have any copies of the Freestyle Dailies that they can upload/share or a link to a blog/site that does?
Many thanks. we are trying some onboard cruise pre-planning.:D

I will be in Costa Maya on the Epic April 10th. We are docked 8am-5pm. Will there be enough time for Maya Chan? Their website says they are minutes from the port. I that true? The place sounds great.
You will have more time than we ever had. On our last trip on the Jewel, "All aboard" was 3:30.
Maya Chans picks you up and drops you off back at the port at the end of the day. It is about 15 - 20 minutes each way. Bottom line is you will have plenty of time.

Just back from similar itinerary. We went to Maya Chan Beach. Owned and operated by Americans. Totally amazing - shaded palapas, beach chairs, hammocks, float chairs, banana boats, etc. It's all inclusive, and the bartender doesn't use shot glasses. Food is fantastic, and prepared by a local right in front of you.
They only have space for a certain number per day, so you don't feel the overcrowded conditions.
Cannot say enough about the place. Highly recommend! (AI also includes the taxi there and back).
I agree, We have been to Maya Chan 6 times and would not even dream of going to Costa Maya without going to Maya Chan.

Whenever we go to Roatan we have a lobster lunch at "Berties and Mrs. B's Creole grill". It is a 5 minute walk from the ship and the food is to die for.

There was a discussion about this sometime, in the recent past.
This was the summary:
http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showpost.php?p=34840578&postcount=35
250 pts - leather-bound pocket atlas
500 pts - leather picture frame (made by Coach?)
750 pts - Waterford crystal bowl
They had no information on the 1000 point gift. There was a disagreement over whether any of the leather was genuine or not.
I will be over 250 points after my next cruise. Seems to me leather bound world atlas is as useful as an ice maker at the North Pole with the usefulness of smart phones. Frankly, I think NCL is being very cheap/cheeky is their milestone awards is this how they recognize repeat customers.

Does anyone what the Latitudes Milestone Gift is at 250 points?
I am just curious.

How many cabins do you need to book to get a group booking? What are the benefits to a group booking?
8 cabins, 2 persons in each cabin. I think you get a 9th free, I think. call NCL and ask.

I just completed a Christmas cruise on the Sun. I personally think a little larger ship (Jewel,Pearl, etc.) might be better for you as they have more to offer kids than the Sun. IMHO.
-
Perhaps sailing dates are during spring break?
excellent point!

What type of cabin do you have in the Haven?
The UBP must be bought by all adults on a reservation. The soda package must be purchased for those under 21. For them to tell you you cannot purchase the UBP does not sound right to me. You are correct on the 1+1 on the points. If you booked 9 months or more out, you get a additional point.

Not really. I have found that I go to the website once a week to see what specials are being run. Have you telephoned NCL and asked? Worst thing is they can say that they don't know.

We will be traveling to Copenhagen to sail on a 14 night NCL cruise. I will be traveling with my DW and 18 year old son.
I am looking for recommendations of a hotel that would be good for us to stay in 2 or 3 nights pre cruise. I am not looking for a Motel 6, but i can't afford a 5 star property.:o
Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.:)
Many thanks

First of all, I am pro NCL. I like the "Freestyle" cruising concept. Having said that we have sailed on the Star twice and we are booked for June of 15.
On our previous 2 cruises, we had wonderful food, and very friendly service. We have been impressed how the NCL staffers keep the teens (including our 16 year old) in check while still letting the kids have a good time. I like the fact that the bar servers cut off those that are overindulging. I know for a fact not all cruise operate this way.
When we were on the Star, we found a very clean, well maintained ship.
IMHO, I think the Star is a good ship to have a nice vacation.
I hope this helps.

That's weird I see it under dining when I log in. I'm staying in a suite is that the difference.
Being is a suite makes no difference.
Dailies for the Dawn out of NOLA...anyone?
