  1. We are planning our first Hawaiian cruise, which we just booked spur of the moment. Now I think it would be cool for DH and I to have some aloha shirts. Do they make womens aloha shirts or do you just get a smaller mens and wear that. We have none as yet, so I'm going to start looking online. Any suggestions for something inexpensive?

  2. We went on the Mar 24, 2014 sailing of the Delling. The whole trip was great. It was an early spring there and the flowers in Keukenhof were in full bloom for us. They told us the previous year, it was very cold and snow/hail at the same time. So alot depends on the weather, which you can't predict. We were quite worried booking that early, but got lucky. At one port, Viking took us in small groups to visit a local person's home for coffee and cake. That was a wonderful cultural experience for us to get to know the locals personally and for them to get to know us. I would book this trip again without hesitation.

  3. Bermuda,

We were on the maiden voyage of the Delling in late March/early April on a Tulips and Windmill cruise. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a wonderful time. The crew was top notch, the food was delicious and plentiful, and everything was handled with great attention to detail.

I have some pictures of the cabin and ship if you send me your email address, I'll send them to you.

    Wishing you a great trip!

  4. We booked Early Saver and are beyond final payment. The price has gone down so I called to get an OBC. Rep said although the price is down, the taxes/port charges are up and it would actually cost more, so no OBC for me. She said they have no control over the taxes/port charges.

Has anyone had this happen to them?

  5. Because river cruising is different from ocean cruising, I think you will find that you are not spending long hrs on a bus. The new Viking longships are tastefully decorated and beautiful. We've been on 3 cruises with them and found everything to be top notch...the ship, crew, service, food....everything was wonderful. I hope your trip is as well!

  6. We were on the maiden voyage of the Viking Delling this year for a tulips and windmills cruise. The ship was brand new and absolutely gorgeous. We were in the least expensive cabin on the lowest deck, but Viking has suites which are larger, but of course, more expensive. We thought the food was very good, but the food will depend on the chef. Give a dozen chefs the same recipe and ingredients, and you will taste 12 different meals.

I have some pictures of the cabin and ship and will email them to you if you want to see them.

  7. We also brought 2 checked and 2 carry ons to Europe last year for a 10 day cruise and 3 days pre cruise. One checked was only 22 inches and the other 25 inches. For next fall, doing a 7 day out of Venice, with 3 days in Paris pre and 2 days in Venice post, I want to get that 25 inch down to a 22 inch.

If I do get down to two 22 inch wheeled bags plus 2 carry ons for the 2 of us, should we just carry on the 22 inch wheeled instead of checking them?

  8. We stayed at the Hotel Europe Saint Severin which is very close to Notre Dame and St Michel metro....a very convenient area.

Our best dinner was at Les Papilles, 30, rue Gay Lussac, which we walked to from the hotel. It is a set menu dinner, so you eat what the chef has prepared for that night. We loved it!

  9. We also have done 3 Viking cruises in the lower deck level and have been very happy. You are really not in your room much. Between eating, excursions, socializing, getting a cup of tea and cookie, sitting in the lounge reading, attending an evening program, and viewing the scenery from the lounge as you sail...whew, you hardly have time to even sleep in there!
