1. First off, I'm sorry that the OP feels cheated, but that is simply supply and demand. Here's something that always confounds though... Where else can you get a room and three meals a day for under $100/person? If that price is considered a luxury to you, then maybe you should rethink where you allocate your money.

I still think crusing is one if the best vacation values out there.

Sorry to go off topic but I'm not the first one to do so :D

I totally agree that cruising is a great value, that's why I currently have 3 cruises booked. 😁 I was annoyed that the didn't honor the price that at that time they were still promoting on their website. I feel like it's a ploy to get you to click onto the booking and not notice or not care that the price is not what was advertised. I get prices go up based on demand and I'm not even saying that I think $399 is too much ( although I do think it's too much) it just wasn't what the advertised for a lowest catagory inside on the March 8th sailing. No worries, I'll find something to my liking I'm sure.

  2. All of those ads say "FROM" in the pricing. It all depends on the date. Your $249 cruise is there. It sails on March 8, 2017. That is the only week that price is offered, but it is offered.

My point exactly. March 8th is the date I was trying to book. But there were NO cabins for that price. You click on the $249 inside cabin button and the ONLY price for an inside cabin is $399.

  3. The initial price you saw was the lowest price available for that cruise across all sailing dates. Most dates will be higher. The insides STARTS AT $249 in your case, it does not mean that ALL insides for ALL sailings are $249. Nothing misleading about it at all. When you get to the list of sailing dates for any given cruise you can sort by price by clicking on the cabin type header.

That was the only sail date for that itinerary. I knew it was lowest catagory inside on only one week, that's why I used the "take me to this cruise" button, but it still went up after you picked the specific cruise that advertised $249. I called NCL and got the ole " oh, the $249 cabins sold out...[emoji35]

  4. Grrr, I'm feeling super annoyed right now. Just found out I'll be transferring back to Texas at the end of summer, so I figured I better try to squeeze in all the cruised I can while I'm still in Florida. Go hunting on NCL.com and find a 3 day Epic cruise for $249 plus port & taxes. Super!! It only goes to NCL's private island. That sounded perfect. So I click on book it now. Click on "inside cabin $249". and low and behold $399 + port and taxes. WTH happened to my $249 cruise? Of course they are like sorry, you're S.O.L. Totally bummed.

  5. On the MCS Divina, the ship just automatically scheduled cruise critic meet & greet, it was listed in the daily newsletter. They provided cocktails & snacks. There were several department heads and officers present. They took a group photo and sent one to each cabin that participated. It was very nice.

  6. You can bet if there is a ship in port, that MOST shops will be open. We were in Cozumel on Christmas day a few years back and everything was open. I expect they probably closed early, but we didn't run into any problems.

  7. Just returned from the MSC Fantasia.

Food in the main dining room was good to excellent but Celebrity and NCL are still atop of it. Forget about the food in the buffet restaurant.

Shows? BusyBlond, sorry, but how can someone state that the shows on MSC are the best at sea? The male singer on our cruise was not able to sing any English lyrics without a bad accent and he simply was out of tune. Acrobats are great, danceing was o.k., singing was subpar (only two singers). Not to compare with shows on Celebrity or the musicals on NCL.

On the positive side: Good live music in all bars and the atrium.

Onboard prices are decent compared to Celebrity or NCL. A bottle of water was 2.60 Euro (one liter). Wine started at 4.50 Euro per glas. Cakes 1.90 Euro, maccarons 1 Euro, cupcakes 0.80 Euro.

Specialty restaurants... El Sombero Tex Mex - forget it if you´re used to Tex Mex food. Haven´t tried out the steaks. Sports Bar - not sure if I want to pay extra for a burger (4.50 Euro).

Service was good to excellent.

We´ve been in a regular balcony (Fantastica experience) but we had a chance to tour the Yacht Club. Yacht Club is a totally different thing. Cabins are more like regular balconies but the Top Sail Lounge, the sun deck with bar and the Yacht Club restaurant are looking really great. Includes beverages too.

Ship: Great hardware, nice design but in some areas the aisles are pretty narrow. So it´s even hard to pass each other.
We sailed the Davina, maybe the shows were geared more towards Americans? The Michael Jackson tribute was absolutely amazing. There were some opera performances that wouldn't be my first choice for entertainment, they were however VERY beautiful and well done. The cast received a standing ovation at every performance.

  8. We sailed MSC for the first time in October. We had a fantastic time. The food was good to excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shows in the theater were some of the best I've ever seen at sea.
Hi BusyBlond,

I am interested too... have you cruised on NCL? If so how is it different? We have 8 NCL Cruises and one royal Caribbean... any cruise would be nice, but compared to NCL we won't cruise RC again. I am curious to know what the differences are between between NCL and MSC. we almost booked MSC, but then backed out.
I've sailed NCL, RCCL & Carnival approximately 6-9 times each. I enjoyed MSC as much as any of the others. As mentioned by others, unless you book the Aurea experience, you will not be able to have "freestyle" dining. We were assigned a table for 2 at the early seating and it worked out fine. We did not experience super long dining times that others have reported.

  9. So, I will be sailing on the Epic in February. It will be my first sailing as a Platinum guest. I've read some of the perks, but not sure exactly how you go about redeeming them? For example the dinner for 2. Is that something I need to pre-book? or will there be a voucher in my cabin? I'm sailing solo, so will I be allowed to dine alone? What else do I need to know? I've cruised a lot, but I'm not loyal to any one cruise line, so I'm not really at an elevated status on any line. I think I'm most excited about the ship tour. I've done behind the scene on a small Carnival ship, but I'm really looking forward to seeing the galley on a mega ship. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
