Here are the lists for the most recent movies on-board.  Unfortunately the Veendam only had teeny tiny TVs, and not really good for watching movies and we had to order dvds from reception - So we didn’t bother with movies this cruise.

hope you can read this, the original was a very pale copy.

  3. Here's a map of the cruise port.  We find this a relaxing inexpensive day and love this port.

Do the Beach, the pool, snorkel off the beach in the area of number 5 on the map below, wander the shops and it's easy to get off and on the ship for a break or lunch.

Tours, transportation, cabanas and planning are not really necessary at this port.  Jack's shack is left on the beach past the big pool. (chairs are free on the beach under or close to  the palm trees)

  4. Yes, this is the Margaritaville pool.  Free access and free chairs.  Right at the end of the dock.  Yes, beach access is there too.   At the end of the dock:  go straight to shop,  go left or right to access beach,  and margaritaville can be accessed from the beach or the shopping area.

Or if you like just walking on the beach, go over to Governors Beach.  People find sea glass there.  You can walk all the way to Pillory along the water edge.

Isn't there a fence at the pier by the wrecked ship, just before Governors Beach?  Is that easy to get around?

  6. Be careful what you ask for!  Driving in Tortola is not for the faint of heart.  Roads are narrow, twisting, potholed, and very steep.  Lots of oncoming traffic to dodge.  It is an adventure in a taxi.  But it is fun- and the views are stunning!

Also, you drive on the left  😉

  7. My guess is that you will tender in to Spanish Town Marina.  Then it is an easy taxi ride to the Baths.  All the ferries dock there too, so you will find lots of taxi drivers.  It was $6 for the taxi to The Baths and Devils Bay.

  8. I really like Mixbook. They  have great templates and backgrounds ( the best I’ve seen) for a themed book ....like cruises, beach, tropical vacation,  etc.  Or you can have a modern sleek look.   Very user friendly.  I have also used the Apple Books and liked them because you didn’t have to be online to use it, but mixbook was more versatile for layout, font, layering, etc.  Quality was similar.

Thanks for the photo journal.    Seems as if you did a lot of beaching out.   Glad you enjoyed yourselves.

Yes, we do enjoy a nice beach, but this cruise is not really a beach vacation.  In 2 weeks we only got to the beach in Aruba and Cabo.  Too much to see everywhere else.😄

I assume that heat, humidity, rain (and bugs?) will probably be worse in May?

Do you very much enjoy the various ports on the full transit (from where to where?) or is it essentially the transit itself that keeps you going back?

    Thanks.

We were there in April, and no bugs.  Here is my photo journal and maybe this will help with your questions.

  11. Glad the photos helped you out.  Enjoy your cruise whichever you pick - I don't think you will go wrong.

Another tip that I found helpful was to do some research on the building of the canal.  It is fascinating.   I read The Path Between the Seas: The Creation of the Panama Canal, 1870-1914 by David McCullogh.    It's a bit of a dry read at the beginning for all the politics of getting this thing built and if you can't get through it, just read the shortened version on Wikipedia, but be sure to  read the last 1/3rd of the book on the actual building ....fascinating e.g.  first time concrete was ever used for construction, building the motors put general electric into business, the geology of how the banks keep collapsing,   etc etc.   Also there are lot videos available on you tube.  The advanced knowledge really helped me know what I was looking at.   Yes, there is a guide, but sometimes you cant hear everything, and they also give you a different perspcetive.

  12. We loved Dubrovnik as well and were lucky enough for our ship to overnight there.

We explored the old town on our own in the evening the first night, had a tour of old town the next morning and walked the walls for the afternoon.  The tour was good and learned some interesting thing about living in old town without vehicles and living through the war, but really you could easily do the city and walls without the tour, especially if you are short on time.  Here is the Link to our photo blog of Dubrovnik.   Enjoy!
