  1. You need to re read your HAL Per-charges for your card, they charge on the very first day of your cruise 60.00 per person per day , even for our 4 year old. and at the end of the cruise they will release it, which they say may take up to 30 days for it to clear off. And no Disney, RCCl, NCL, Princess does not do this. I do a lot of traveling and have been a Travel Agent for many years. This is just bad business and I will not go on another HAL cruise. I'm ok with pre paying for tours and extras and tipping. I am not ok with pre paying a charge just in case I need it.

Please provide us with the reference where you see this information so that we can be enlightened. Most of us are familiar with this procedure and it is in fact a HOLD only. No charge goes through and the hold does not carry an interest date since it is only becomes a charge at the end of the cruise.

Are you perhaps talking about a DEBIT card as opposed to a CREDIT card?

I have been on NCL and Princess and can assure that they also do this, as do most hotels.

You are not paying anything before it is actually due, other than restaurants or excursions. You are paying your tips (service charge) only at the end of the cruise.

  2. Major differences -

Oosterdam does not have a Tamarind restaurant or Silk Den

Osterdam does not have Lido deck cabanas

Other than that the ships are very similar in size and design. The V cabins on all three shipsare for the most part identical in size, design and location. HAL's website or Joannie's CC website will show you the different colours.

  3. Hello All:

Wife and I will be on the Eurodam on the 9th of July. I like to buy the t-shirts on the cruise ships.

Do they put them on sale at near the end of the cruise?

    Thanks !

The most recent t-shirts will be sold in the boutique only and are rarely on sale. They do have regular sales on the Lido Deck near the pool a few times per cruise where the older ones seem to show up for sale. These sales will be advertised in the daily program.

  4. It looks like the food department in corporate has it more "together" than the entertainment people in corporate.

And that's the way it should be!;) More people cruise for the food than people cruise for the trivia!

  5. Plus an SC includes a discounted hotel rate through HAL. A PS, SA or SB the hotel is included. Weigh all the costs for cheaper cabins against the SB and SC with hotels included then make your decisions.

Is this new? I have never heard of it.

Where can you find the details of this program?

  6. If we find wine in any of the ports, can we bring it on board and pay the corkage fee or does this only apply at the initial embarkation?

    Thanks,

    Sandy

You can bring it on at any port. Sometimes they scan it and other times they don't. I've even had some scanned and been directed to the "corkage fee" table but nobody was there to collect. It's a crap shoot.
