  1. "For tonight I'll leave you with one last pic - this right here is my peace. We went on a land vacation to an AI in Mexico in 2020 and I so badly wanted to love it, but all I could think of was how we weren't on the water. I'm a cruiser for life."

This and your last picture are a perfect summary of our feelings regarding vacations as well. Glad you are having a great time and nice weather so far. Thanks for taking the time to bring us along!!

  2.  A bit off topic, but I wanted to post a thank you to those who start these update threads and continue to post photos and info during the construction along with all the posters who participate in them. I rarely post outside of trip reports, but these threads are really great and amp up my excitement for cruising all year long and especially in between my cruises as I follow along in each construction thread.

Thank you to a great community... back on topic. 🤐

  3. This reminds me of an interview Piers Morgan did back in 2008-2009 in a show about Las Vegas. Leading up to the Housing Crisis, Vegas was going along nicely but reasonably, then during the year and a half of the worst of the recession, Piers was interviewing the owner of the Planet Hollywood resort and asking how they were handling the worst downturn in years. The owner says we are giving away rooms free basically to get people in to spend money.

Piers then asks him what happens when the economy improves and demand resumes, and the owner says flatly, I will rip their jugular's out, meaning you will pay through the nose, which is kinda what happened several year later as the recession waned.

Currently RCL is going for our Jugular's, until we sequel and demand lightens up,  but I think they feel they also have a great product with their ships compared to other lines and figure when the rides over they can lower the prices back some and demand by people who like their ships will remain or come back.

  4. Adding myself as one who remembers his posts and the CC community who developed around him. I think the 2 years of Covid gave me a blind spot to those years and things and people that to me seem like no more than a year or two at most ago, astonishes me when I look back and it is coming up on 5 years since his passing. His cruising post then homestead post along with Railroad knowledge made him one of the more colorful posters on CC.

we fondly remember when Horizon sailed.out of Philadephia to Bermuda our first Celebrity cruise!

@ginnyks thank you for the memory as that was my very first cruise in 2004 sailing Horizon from Philly to Bermuda. 20 Minute ride to the port was so awesome. Really sorry to hear she is being scrapped, but onward things go I guess.

  6. Good morning Cruise Critics.. welcome to Disembarkation Day… were on our last hour or so on Anthem. Anticipating a 7 am debark time for tag 53.

One note coffee at Cafe Promenade does not open this morning until 6 am as does the windjammer. We tried about 5 am and were skunked.

Just passed under the bridge and will be heading up to the windjammer shortly for coffee and our last breakfast 🥞

  7. Well after a quick snack from Windjammer for dinner as we were not all that Hungry, we visited with our room steward and gave him an additional tip as his service was excellent this week.

Had one last Cafe Mocha from La Patisserie then walked the Esplande one last time and from deck 5.

Then returned to the room to pack up and catch one last awesome sunset…

I will report tomorrow on the disembarkation process probably after arriving home and getting settled.

Thanks all for following and commenting all week!

Thanks once again, Seadog67, I'm thoroughly enjoying your posts. 30 more days for us.

If you happen to go past the Jameson's liquor again, could you please let me know what size bottles they are. That's Hubby's choice of poison. We typically don't buy any liquor on board any longer because it's a pain to carry back and we can typically get it on sale for around the same price!

Glad to hear Jamie's is good as we're planning on having lunch or dinner there at least once. I want to try the lasagne!

    Thanks again.

I am with Mrs. S regarding Wonderland. The food is too far out for my palate.

Did you happen to see a bar in Wonderland? I read somewhere that someone had a drink at the bar that had cotton candy in in....my major weakness. It could have been on a different ship, though.

I can't believe your cruise is almost over. It seems like only yesterday we were waving goodbye to the Anthem as you sailed out of Cape Liberty. I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. And, once again, thanks for taking us along!

I did not see a bar in the restaurant directly but mist likely the specialty drinks are made in the kitchen. We watched a show on the tv in our cabin where they showed them making some of the dishes which looked out there.

The week definitely goes by quickly for sure.. glad you were along for the ride…

10 of the cast is out for various reasons - next week's show is still in doubt.

The Gift will restart in about 2 weeks with the new cast while the old cast still puts on WWRY.

The riggers to allow the aerialist portion in Spectra are being hired but may take several more months for them to trickle into Anthem.

Thanks for the info @Biker19! Guessing we can assume the issue, if 10 of them are down.. hoping it is nothing serious and they recover quickly.

I will add with the restart picking up steam these things were expected at least by us and we are happy with this cruise and how it has been pulled off.

While some of the "nest stuff" is a bit dry, the short ribs we've had on 4 different dinings at Wonderland on various ships have been outstanding.  And I like the smoky old fashion and the chocolate lovers delight (World) .   Do give it a try on the Symphony.  And don't miss out on Hooked!!!

    Thanks for sharing.

Have a safe trip home to the doggies.

Awesome @crewsweeper ! Thanks for the impressions and well wishes for our trip home!

Spent the past two hours ease dropping on the art auction in Boleros… then donating a few more dollars to the casino college fund. 😩

Just stepped out on the promenade… while not cold by winter standards we are use to…who am I kidding… it’s cold 🥶 out there!!
