  1. As an aside I emailed Munich airport which explained,if any delays on inbound flight you are met by LH internal staff that escort you privately to passport control and then your gate via a special ramp!?

Anyway my flights areFlt Lufthansa.2443 from Copenhagen departs1:05 p.m arrives in Munich at 2:40 pm. Flat Lufthansa 0476 departs 3:25 p.m. Arriving in Vancouver at 4:55p.m.

Thanks for your help. The email I mentioned stated the Munich airport prides themselves on quick connection and has this special service in place if you are delayed. Very official soundingLOL

  2. Thanks for your I put Lynn. I am still unclear if we would have to go through passport control in Munich. Realize customs would be Vancouver. if we do have to then I will take this up with the air dept. as they assured me just a gate change. my sister and I are seniors, with slight mobility issues and we sure couldn't run to make it to the gate if we have to do passport control prior. I would never have accepted these flights with a passport control on such a tight layover.

  3. Thanks Paul, took a look at that site and still not sure We have 40 minutes between flights but if the rep at Oceania is incorrect and it is NOT just a gate but also a passport check, could be huge problem. ON the flyer talk site 40 minutes is considered ample but I am now worried if we have to find another area other than the gate for passport check. Apparently this connection time is routine???!!!! Will email my TA to see if she can find out more. Thanks for the alert.

  4. thrilled with my flights! My TA called me with Oceania air dept. on hold and we had a three way conversation. Before I even mentioned the flights I wanted they were offered albeit with a $100.00 up charge pp. We fly Vancouver to Heathrow non stop Air Canada and return flight is Lufthasa,Copenhagen to Munich, then non stop to Vancouver. my only concern was that the connecting time in Munich is very tight but the rep from Oceania assured me it is only a gate change, (Security done in Copenhagen ) and we arrive in same terminal. She stated Munick airport is compact and we should be fine. Would have likened a little broader margin but she was adamant it would work. Anyway thanks for all the help,oh and she even did seat selection for us so all is done! thanks again

  5. Great to hear from someone on the same cruise. I am cruising with my twin sister. Are you interested in any private tours We are arriving 3 days early to visit the New Forest and Stonhenge"staying in Southhampton for the 3 days prior. So excited to try Oceania.

  6. sorry for asking what for many is an often repeat question. Cannot seem to find both recent and pertinent answers to my air deviation question. I understand the basic premise, but am unsure if request can only be made after final payment or after deposit has been made. My request is for a 3 day earlier flight to Heathrow airport from Vancouver, B.C. A route that is flown daily by British airways, Air Canada and several other major airlines. I would like clarification as to when I can make my request. most of the above airlines are non stop flights, therefore I am hoping there will not be any up charge. Would appreciate the most current procedure information,as I would like to initiate as soon as possible ( TA away for a few days)? Thanks for any help. This also a one way request as I am happy to accept pretty much whatever the return flight is from Copenhagen. Thanks so much for any help, tips and insight that is offered. First time on Oceania and very excited. CRuise is Regal Routes June 2-12 on Marina

    Thanks again,Rhonda

  8. Since I have had only one response thought I would try once moe re .cat C cabins aft? WOndering also is this cruise too strenuous for seniors with mild mobility issues (arthritis issues)? thinking about the tendering .Certainly able to walk well still not sure. Wondering also about heat tolerance. We do fine in Hawaii and Caribbean, but is this really extreme and how do you cope? Thanks Rhonda

  9. Planning our first PG cruise for Novemver 2018, Have some questions which I posed on another thread but thought perhaps this would be better. TAlking with an agent at PG she advised of a 10 percent reduction in fare for Canadians and being from Vancouver, B.C. This will be helpful. THere will be 3 adults in our party and at first I thought a cat.B would best but am now considering catC "wondering about the cabins on the stern with much larger balconies. IS there a noise issue or excessive vibration in this location. Also wondering about diesel fumes? Any advice appreciated. We are two senior twin sisters (70) yikes! And my son in his early 40s who unlike us is not an avid cruiser but loves to dive and wants to keep an eye on the "golden girls" as he calls us. HE prefers land travel but is endulging me! Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks,Rhonda

  10. Hi,Planning my first PG cruise an found your post re reduced rates on some sailings. We cannot travel until November 2018,thinking about the 11 night cruise. Need help with cabin selection, there will be 3 adults. Was going to go with cat B but upon reading comments think now cat C would be fine.Noted stern ca ins have huge balconies. Are there noise, fume issues here and would we be better mid ship. very excited about this bucket list cruise. Anyone know cost so air deviation, would like to fly in a couple of days early. Thanks, Rhonda

  11. I am interested on a Nieuw Amsterdam sailing in the Med and believe I read your comments on a previous thread about the different sizes of inside cabins. Ruth would you be able to tell me which category are the largest insides on this ship. Have not sailed on HAL for many years after a disappointing sailing on the Zuiderdam in 2003 and now would like to try HAL again. It had previously been my line of choice. Thanks for any help you can offer.

  12. Recently did an Alaska cruise on the Pacific Princess and have nothing negative at all to report. The ship is in excellent shape, the crew were extremely friendly and the food was very good. I am sure it is not to the standard of Oceania but very good. The itinerary in Alaska that Princess provides is excellent with long port stops and of course the prize of Glacier Bay, with a ranger on board all day narrating about the different areas within the bay and Alaska in general. Because it is so scenery and nature focused ,I don't believe you could go wrong with Pacific Princess.

  13. Hi Again Norris,

Just loving your review!. Have been on the Pacific Princess so very familiar with your wonderful photos. We had an interesting cruise to the Med. in Sept. 2001. Yes it was when 9/11 happened and instead of a 12 day cruise we ended up with a 24 day cruise on the MS Rotterdam. A fabulous cruise doing the black sea and then the western Med. A wonderful itinerary under very sad circumstances. Your cruise however has been so wonderfully highlighted by your great photos and exquisite sense of humor. I am enjoying this so much. Thank you again. Rhonda

  14. Hi Norris ,Carol

Just wanted to add that I too am enjoying your review. It is fabulous. The photography is wonderful and the post with the pictures of the interior of the opera house were breathtaking!!! What an amazing stay you had in Venice. I found it magical as well and plan to return in a few years. Carol thank you for the suggestion of the book. Sounds like a wonderful read. Can't wait for your "official boading" impressions. Thanks for all the work that goes into one of these in depth reviews. This is one of the best ever!!!. Love your wit, Norris,!!

    Regards, Rhonda

  15. Just back from visiting elderly sister in Portland, Oregon. She is very unwell, has pneumonia and outlook not good. Tried to watch what I was eating but it was a stressful situation and rather difficult to pick and choose what I ate as was staying with a niece. Anyway goods news is that I saw my surgeon yesterday and am now booked for complete left hip replacement. Seeing the physio next week for l hr session to learn some upper body strengthening exercises for post op. Am back on track with my points and just going to try to stay positive and do the best I can. Rhonda. Would love any advice or dos and don'ts re surgery. Thanks

  16. Loved reading your intro. So good to hear from someone who has gone through the hip replacement thing. Can't believe how debilitating this is!! Will see the surgeon next Thursday and have more info then. Good for you on your weight loss.!!! I find I do better with the points system too. Because I can't do any significant exercise I am just not putting any big expectations on myself. I am down 2 lbs from 3wks ago so am happy with that. Just have to take it one day at a time and trying to stay away from the snacks. Fortunately I love veggies so that helps. Now if I could just get rid of this pain LOL. Hope everyone else had a good day. It was a gorgeous day in Vancouver today, sunny and warm with a hint of fall in the air. Best time of year. Regards, Rhonda

  17. Dale, I did realize the two communities were different !!! Thank you for all your advice and concern. I am really going to try to take on some crafts to fill my days. Interestingly today I went to my church to help make sandwiches for our downtown eastside and one of the ladies there has the same surgeon I have been referred to. She is a longstanding member of WW and has offered to be a great support to be when I have my surgery. I had a great WW day, stayed within my points even though had little exercise but feel happy to have the additional support offered. Lots of veggies and protein and very little carbs. Hopefully tomorrow will be good as well. Pain under control so all is well.

  18. Thanks Dale for the warm welcome. Yes my situation is frustrating. If I remain sedentary the pain is not bothersome but any amount of exercise brings it on. I am not house bound but find except for meeting friends for coffee etc. pretty tiring and although I love to garden, I pay for it afterwards even if I just putter a bit. I probably would be fine will losing 20-25 lbs. but would like to be really slim again. I am 5'8" so "hide" my weight rather well but still want to slim down. I have never enjoyed exercise as such but was an avid skier and bike rider when I was younger. Your suggestion of things to do to keep my mind off food is a good thought. I am going to start some kind of craft thing this week. I do knit and crochet so that may help. By the way I had a brother in law from Bridgetown Nova Scotia, small world. I live in Vancouver. Anyway will just keep on doing the best I can. No cruises planned until I get this hip surgery over with...I went on 3 this past year so can't feel too deprived. Take care everyone. Really trying to cut carbs and fill up on veggies which I love. Rhonda

  19. I am so enjoying your review! More importantly I want to commend and compliment you for your obvious love and care of your stepchildren. It comes through loud and clear how much you care about these kids!. Such an awesome thing to see and read about. Your concern for not embarrassing your stepson at night brought a tear to my eye. You are a GREAT DAD and they are very lucky to have you. All the best in the years to come.
