  1. As others have cautioned you, you have to pay for BOTH people over 21 in your cabin to get CHEERS. From what you said, it doesn't seem like this would be a "good deal" for you. I just want to wish you a BON VOYAGE and offer my sympathy. I think it's wonderful you are still going on this cruise. Look up at the night sky and I bet you will see your DH shining down on you. :)

Thank you so much! The really hard cruise was the one this past November...that was suppose to be mine and husband's Platinum cruise...I was so divided on whether to go or not....especially since we had planned it together :( .... and we also had this May cruise booked prior to his death ... my son won't be 21 until after we return to Port Canaveral....that was why I was asking the question about whether it would benefit me :(

  2. I am so sorry about your loss.... If you and your son are sharing a cabin, then both of you will have to sign up for cheers. Everyone over 21 in the cabin has to get it, they don't let just one person sign up. You will be much better off buying drinks as you go, I think cheers will cost you about $800 for an 8 day cruise....

He won't be 21 until a couple of days after the cruise ends

  3. Since our cruise is paid in full for the 17th of May and I had booked early saver ... I got a OBC last week of $130 and last night of $110 (I think) anyway now I have an OBC of $235.62 so I am happy :) maybe I will get some more...I have my tips already paid in advance and I have paid for 2 shore excursions...

  4. I am booked early saver and that is the 2nd time I have price matched this week with Sail From Florida .. last night within 30 minutes of me submitting my price protection form I had the email approval and then the email confirmation showing the credit. Now this is for the May cruise.....the December cruise I watch daily and it hasn't changed at all...but I am hoping closer to time it will.

  5. I am trying to decide about the cheers program.....since my husband died of a massive heart attack in September :( :( our son is going in his place ... we had 2 cruises booked before he died....our platinum cruise was in November ...and then we had this 8 day cruise next month that he was SO excited about. Our son will be 21 in a couple of days after the cruise has ended .... (and I know this is wrong...and will get MANY ugly comments.....if I did get the cheers program for just me...since it is just the 2 of us ... I could basically split the 15 drinks between the two of us? I know I could come NO WHERE near drinking that many...I have maybe 2 specialty drinks a day ... and my husband and i had Bud Light most of the other time...because that is what we do/did at home ...... but how would I figure out if I would come out ahead doing the Cheers program? How much would it be on an 8 night cruise? With just one person?

  6. We used our tablet last year and were able to get a free connection onboard anywhere . .. our room, on deck, etc. Easy way to stay in touch with those back at home for free.

So if I take my ipad next month I can connect to the Carnival website free of charge? I didn't realize that .... of course I just got an ipad .... but in November we took a kindle and we paid for the internet service but it was SO slow we couldn't even check email.....so this is good to know ..... so now how does this work....we just turn the ipad on and then it will connect to Carnival?

  7. I had no idea what Tandoor food was either ..... they had it on the Dream and the Freedom ..... I tried the corn .... even though it was cold I thought it was good ... and I ate some of the flat bread ... but my husband and I had NO idea what anything was at the Tandoor station .......

  8. I had been watching the prices since last night ... I have a balcony on the Lido Deck .. did not want to change cabins or I could have probably really saved some money ...but this morning the sail from Florida rate was lower than what I paid and I am paid in full and tips have been paid in full .... so I submitted a price protection form about 10:00 a.m. and I just got the confirmation that I received the OBC ...:)

What I don't understand is the price difference was $130 and they gave me $125.62 .. I am not complaining though ... but why does a price drop make the taxes, fees & port charges go up? Of course I have been on cruises before where we would get a credit while onboard due to a reduction in taxes, fees, & port charges....just confusing ... but I am still happy :)

  9. If you can still get OBC for the price drop I would do that.

We had a similar situation come up and DH said no way, he wanted to be closer to the food. Nice, huh? lol

I hope you have a wonderful trip with your son, whichever you choose. :)

I didn't really think about that.....maybe I should check into it to see if I could get the OBC and stay in the same cabin.....

  10. :) I really have the exact cabin that I was wanting ... I really do think the cabin right at the Lido Door is the best one on the ship :) :) :) I am just always interested when I see something at a cheaper price......it is actually me that doesn't like the walking :)

  11. I am booked in a balcony on the Lido Deck in the cabin right next to the door going out to the Lido deck....we have stayed in that cabin on the Freedom before ... this is the Sunshine (and this time it is me and my son since my husband died of a massive heart attack in September and won't be with me on this cruise) I have just noticed a price drop .... and I could get an aft balcony cabin on the Promenade deck for a lower price ... I have never stayed in an Aft Balcony .... but don't you think that a 20 year old would rather be right at the Lido deck?

  12. We prefer not to eat in the MDR also .... when our children were younger and cruised with us - our daughter was 15 the first year we started cruising .....and she insisted we eat most nights in the MDR ... I have to admit it was a little irritating to me, her daddy and brother ....mainly because her daddy prefers buffet any time to a sit down meal ... I don't like having to change clothes just to go eat. But we did it for her ..... now that she is married and our son quit going with us because since he didn't have her to share a cabin with he didn't want to stay in the cabin with his mama and daddy.....my husband and I had been cruising alone since 2010 and we went to the MDR maybe 1 or 2 times at the most on each cruise.....he passed away of a massive heart attack in September 2013 .... we had 2 cruises booked when he died...a friend went with me in November...and we went to the MDR 1 time ... and my son is going with me on an 8 night cruise next month...we may try to go a couple of times.....I am not a big eater and really don't care what I am eating....my son eats in quantity not quality (lol) .... so I am sure he won't care.

I hope your parents will go at least a couple of times with you to the MDR. Since it was so important to my daughter I see your side....but it sure is nice not to have to go in there all the time .... we have never been to breakfast before, only one time at brunch and one time for lunch

  13. Yes there will be taxis stationed near the port who give tours for different prices, if you go with others it's very cheap. Just look for one heading to the west and northside where you can get some of the great views of the bays, they will all take you to the same areas of the island. Cash only. No worries, very easy and the people of these islands are very friendly!

Thank you so much blue_water! You are a wealth of great information:)

  14. I just got a new camera that came in the mail today - it is a point and shoot Olympus VR-370 ....my other Olympus camera had a piece that came off from it the day I got back from my November cruise (so happy it didn't happen during the cruise)

  15. Well, there is a shortage. That's why the prices have skyrocketed.

And then there's the decision for a business to pay the outrageous prices to keep the product in stock. If they are eating the cost, they may be frugal in putting them in the drink, or just forgo it altogether.

Maybe the truth about Corona will finally come out, that the only original purpose of the lime was to keep flies off the rim of the bottle, and never meant to make beer a lime flavor.

Is that really why they started putting limes on the Corona bottle? I always wondered......I drink Bud Light so I didn't know.......

  16. We have used the Jacksonville Hotel & Suites 3 times....it is much better than the worry of our car breaking down or something...we are only 4 hours from Jacksonville......we have used a couple of different parking places also in Jacksonville......I have a stay, cruise, shuttle, breakfast package booked in Port Canaveral next month because it worked out so good in Jacksonville...hoping it will be the same then:)
