  1. I agree..take a taxi.  We went from Princess to Celebrity Reflection in December. Too far/too compicated to walk. Got off the ship around 8:45 a.m. Took a taxi to Celebrity Reflection Pier 29.  Some confusion there dropping off, but there was a place to drop off our luggage, and we found the line up to get into the terminal. We were surprised to have about 10 people in front of us. They let us in Terminal building at 9:50, we went through security around 10:00, were checked in by 10:15 and boarded the ship at about 10:50.  We did have the first check in booked (11:30)

  2. In early December 2023, we got off one cruise ship (not Celebrity) and got on the Reflection.  We arrived at Term 29 at about 9:30 a.m.; we were not the first in line - about 10 people ahead of us. (We had a scheduled arrival time of 11:30 a.m.) Obviously we really did not want to be this early, but there weren't many options (all passengers were advised of heavy traffic outside terminal and to allow extra time to arrive so we didn't want to take the chance of going elsewhere for a while).

We were allowed in the terminal just before 10 a.m., and found seats.  After about 15 minutes the security lines opened up, and we were then processed by Celebrity check-in.  A further wait until about 11 a.m. when we were allowed on the ship. Hope this helps. ps: your experience may vary 🙂

I am doing this S2S thing in November.  I arrive in Fort Lauderdale on the Star Princess after a transatlantic, and move straight over to Celebrity Reflection for a B2B 14 night around the Caribbean.  Now I have the lingo!  I figure it will be a schlep, but I will have two weeks on either side to relax.

Trinitygirl, we are planning similar in Dec (Princess, then Celebrity) at Fort Lauderdale. What is your strategy for getting from Princess pier to Celebrity? Walking seems difficult (industrial port, timing etc.). Too short for a taxi?  Just wondering what you are planning. Thanks!

  4. With respect to your question about Windstar hotels in Barbados, this year it was Accra. We did not stay there, but definitely heard a lot about it from those who did. The reports were all consistent.  As we didn't stay there I am hesitant to be specific.  I have no doubt you will check recent reviews.😑

Actually it is .03% of passengers and/or crew or 1% crew to hit orange. Essentially that is 1-2 people to go orange. Also, the one passenger who tested positive on the 5/20 cruise may have been someone quarantined on the ship from the previous cruise who still tested positive although past the 10 day quarantine. My husband, who had a false negative to get off the ship, finally tested negative today, 14 days later.

Actually it is .3% for orange (crew and/or passengers). 1% is for a crew only ship.

Orange 0.3% or more of total passengers and/or crew

Actually, I was asking about Louisbourg. Does the admission include any sort of guide or guidance? How necessary is that or is self-guiding easy?

Be aware Louisbourg and Baddeck are different directions and not both do-able on same trip. Louisbourg entrance fees include a self guided tour with map. It is very easy and there are people working in buildings in period costumes answering questions and providing commentary.  There are optional guided tours available. Louisbourg is very interesting and well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

    Skeptical person here...

    1. How do they know that everyone was vaccinated if the card is as easy to forge as they say it is and there is no national/digital database?

    2. If the incubation period for Covid is up to 14 days, how does testing 72 hours ahead help? The pair tested negative 3 days (?) before departure and tested positive 8 days later(check my math, but I think it's within the 14 days). Am I missing something?

Another skeptic here. Breakthrough infections possible, but odd that it happened to both people in a cabin.

  8. Yes I have a similar situation. I can only manage one of my future bookings; for the other it just takes me back to my next upcoming cruise.  Quite annoying.  When I called several months, they told me the same thing..that it is a known problem and they are working on it.

  9. Anyhooo.  We were just on a Caribbean Classic cruise a week ago; I didn't particularly notice any degradation of the dress code then.  I was making note because I had read comments on this thread before my departure.

I can say however, that I have found that on the Med cruises people tend to dress slightly more formally (myself included).

Enjoyable dining experience, inside Amphora and outside at Candles.

  10. I have taken a Windstar cruise just about every 2 years for the last 12 years, and there has always been "complainers."  They are more likely to post than those who enjoyed their cruise.  I read what they say (and what they have said about other cruises - usually not happy there either), what others say, and then weigh that against my own experiences.  So far I have never been disappointed with my Windstar experience, and am planning my next one for Mar 2019.

  11. Port Vendres: Any ideas? We took the tourist train to Collioure - it was pleasant - takes about 20 minutes if I remember right. Collioure is beautiful, and the train trip back up and over the hills through the wineries was very pleasant.

Monte Carlo: We are here until midnight. If we take the train to Nice, what other towns should we make sure to visit? Take the bus to EZE and then on to Nice, then you can take the train back to MC.

Portoferraio: Hmmm? We walked up to one castle and then across to another castle then back down to the port. Got our exercise!
