  1. I like hearing feedback from someone who is new to cruising. Sometimes those who are more experienced become jaded and pick on the little things because their umpteenth cruise had a waiter who didn't smile the right way or their towel animal wasn't folded perfectly.

    Classic!

Glad to have another convert to cruising and to hear another positive Navigator review. Looking forward to going on Navigator in Feb!

  2. Otis, I see from your postings you haven't sailed on Windstar cruises yet. I know Seabourn service is excellent, but I think if you had experienced Windstar service you would not be so concerned.

I think we all share the hope that they refresh the ships as required. And there is bound to be initial resistance from some Windstar cruisers since many of us enjoy the aspect of the sails. But it seems that some of the negativity was directed at the Star Pride's deck space (which would likely have been the same/similar when it was with Seabourn?).

I am looking forward to trying the Legend next fall.

  3. I am sort of embarrassed to say that I booked with Princess (instead of our usually Celebrity) for 4 main reasons this time:

    MUTS!

Fettuccini Alfredo in the Parmesan Bowl :o

    Is that wrong???? ;)

Not to me...I book Princess for MUTS, and the fettuccini too!

  4. We will be embarking for Alaska near the end of May, flying into YVR. We haven't booked a hotel yet, but it will only be for one night and will be downtown. Should we pre-book car service or just take a taxi? If car service, which one do you recommend?

Plenty of taxis, easily available. No need for car service.

Presumably you've already considered and decided against taking Sky Train.

  5. Husband and I will be staying at the St. Regis Hotel downtown in a couple of weeks , pre cruise stay down the west coast from Vancouver- Los Angeles. Price I got was around $200/nt and I thought that was fair for being so close to the port. We plan on taking the sky train from the airport to Vancouver city station and walk 1 block to our hotel ( also stated on the hotel's website), and the cruise port is only a few blocks away. This will be our first time trying the sky train. All the reviews look great!

Sounds like a great plan cruzbugy; Sept is nice in Vancouver, taking the sky train works well for anyone who can manage their luggage, and your location will be very central.

  6. The way I look at it is that the new (to Windstar) ships were very popular when they were with Seabourn (Legend 93% approval, Pride 76% approval for example). So most cruisers must have been happy the way there were.

Combine that with Windstar's superb service and I am happy to try them and have booked a cruise on the Legend next year. I am also a big Windstar supporter and want to the brand to continue.

Having said that I am taking the comments made by posters seriously, and consider myself forewarned about the ship's shortcomings. Hopefully, the things that can be changed or enhanced by Windstar will be in the newer additions.

  7. OK, I remember a gigantic hue and cry here on CC when the new furniture was introduced. And I seem to recollect that as a result, a certain Mr. Buckelew relented and said they'd put back the old furniture. No? Did I hallucinate that?

I also remember at the time some posters being skeptical that the posts from Princess were legitimate.

  8. My husband and I have been on several Windstar cruises as well other ships. Though the cabins on Windstar are 188 sq. ft., they are beautiful and very comfortable. Neither of us is claustrophobic so I can't address that. However, we are used to having a balcony and still prefer a Windstar cabin with portholes.

I concur with these statements. We use our balconies on others ships to get away from the crowds. Don't need to on Windstar.

  9. Attitude IS everything.

On my first RCCL cruise, my husband and I turned to each other while walking down the hall we looked at each other and both said "this is the best cruise ever!". Just then we caught up to a couple in front of us and overheard the OP say, "this is the worst cruise ever!". We laughed so hard.....

  10. Pricing up not down! when is anything really priced down lol If it was I would already be very rich on my measly income :D

I've never had a cruise booked that didn't go down. But then I book very early (at a price I would be willing to pay), then "stalk" the website; usually 2 or 3 times per day. I usually end up saving cumulatively $500 per person by the time final payment rolls around. But you have to be diligent and quick. I re-booked under the BOGOHO sale in the first hour it was on, but it seemed like if you waited a few days one didn't get the same type of savings.

  11. I plan to go on the Legend next year. It had a 93% approval rating on members reviews as the Seabourn Legend. Add to that Windstar's amazing crew and service! I am forewarned about the deck space, but our itinerary has no sea days, so that doesn't worry me too much at all.

  12. But speaking of bargains....an extension cord (not a heavy power strip) is light and occupies little space in your bag. But if you're staying in hotels pre/post cruise with only one outlet adaptor, that puny extension cord is great.

My advice...don't leave home without it.

Depending on their itinerary, OP may be staying in European hotel where extension cord won't work.

  13. Hi Everyone, we sail on the Allure in August and I am wondering the best way to communicate with my other family members on the ship. There will be my dad, 70, son 25 and myself and I dont know if walkie talkies will work or rent the iphones on the ship. What has been everyones experience? If you have used walkie talkies has there been any issues regarding range and cutting in and out. Thanks:)

Please remember that many other passengers find the use of walkie-talkies very annoying.
