  1. Hi,

I am booked on the Celebrity Summit's cruise that is scheduled to depart from St. Maarten on July 10. It will be interesting to see how many passengers are on this cruise. I think reduced capacity sounds nice - there should be plenty of seats, a lack of crowds, etc.

  2. Hi Seany527,

Thank you very much for your extremely informative posts. I am sorry that two passengers tested positive, but it sounds like Celebrity handled this situation very well.

I am booked on a similar cruise on the Celebrity Summit that departs from St. Maarten on July 10. Celebrity's response makes me feeling better about being booked on this cruise.

    Thanks,

  3. Hi,

It is great that you booked a QM2 crossing for next year. I am booked on the crossing that is scheduled to depart from Southampton on April 24, 2022. I am hoping that the onboard experience will be fairly close to normal by then. I am fully vaccinated and would like to resume traveling.

The QM2 is my favorite ship and I certainly miss her.

  4. Hi,

I am booked on the QM2's westbound crossing that is scheduled to depart from Southampton on April 24, 2022. This crossing technically is the final segment of the world cruise, but I think this crossing could take place even if the world cruise is canceled or the itinerary is altered.

I am fully vaccinated (both Pfizer vaccinations). At this point, it is impossible to know what the onboard experience will be like one year from now. I am doing this crossing solo and greatly enjoy afternoon tea in the Queens Room and dining with other people at dinner. I am hoping that these aspects of the onboard experience will be available by next April. If not, I may cancel the crossing before final payment is due.

  5. Hi,

I am Diamond level and first sailed with Cunard in 1984. In addition to the QM2, I have sailed on the QE2, Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth, Sagafjord and Vistafjord.

I have received a couple of nice upgrades when booking staterooms as a solo. In 2016 (Canada / New England cruise), I booked an inside double stateroom as a solo on the QM2 and was upgraded to one of the beautiful new outside single staterooms on Deck 2. In 2017 (World Cruise segment from Hong Kong to Singapore), I booked an inside double stateroom as a solo on the QM2 and was upgraded to one of the excellent new outside single staterooms on Deck 3. These were still Britannia staterooms, but the upgrades were appreciated.

  6. Hi,

I greatly enjoy transatlantic crossings on Cunard ships. Over the years, I have done six Cunard crossings (four westbound and two eastbound): QE2, 1984 (WB); QE2, 2001 (WB); QE2, 2003 (EB); QM2, 2014 (WB); QV, 2015 (EB); and QM2, 2019 (WB). Also, I am booked on the QM2 for April 2022 (WB).

As an American, I personally prefer WB crossings. I like getting the long flight out of the way at the beginning of the trip and not having jet lag when I return home after the crossing. Also, I really enjoy the 25 hour days. It is great sleeping an extra hour most days.

For crossings, I recommend a sheltered balcony stateroom. I like having a balcony that is protected from the wind.

The sea days on Cunard are excellent. I enjoy attending interesting lectures in Illuminations and afternoon tea in the Queens Room. There are an incredible number of activities each day.

The QM2 is a spectacular and wonderful ship. In addition to the two crossings, I have taken five cruises on this ship (including a short World Cruise segment from Hong Kong to Singapore in 2017).

I usually use the Cunard bus transfers between London and Southampton. This is a very convenient service. I have boarded the bus at the Victoria Coach Station many times and never had a problem.

The passengers on Cunard crossings always seem to be particularly interesting. I really enjoy meeting people and discussing ships and travel.

I highly recommend a transatlantic crossing on the QM2.

  7. Hi,

I am booked as a solo passenger on the Queen Mary 2 for a transatlantic crossing in April 2022 and the Queen Elizabeth for a Pacific coastal cruise in July 2022. I am hoping that the virus situation will be significantly improved by then. If not, I can always cancel the cruises.

Curious about the dates, lengths of cruises and ships on which this offer was made. Just wondering if there is any correlation or similarities among the offers you all have received...........

    Hi,

I have received this offer several times for a seven-day cruise on the Koningsdam that is scheduled to depart on April 24, 2021. I most recently received this offer late last week. Because I think this cruise will be canceled soon, I am not interested in the offer.

  9. Hi,

I enjoyed the movie and the various scenes filmed aboard the ship. However, seeing the QM2 made me a little depressed. It reinforced how much I miss being aboard the ship. I have many wonderful memories aboard the QM2 and of course, don't know when I will be able to return. I can't wait to sail on the QM2 again (my favorite ship).

It is in the port of Long Beach adjacent, but over a bridge from where Cunard docks in the Port of Los Angeles. It will be a taxi or Uber ride from The Port of Los Angeles. I recommend you look at google maps, for LA Cruise terminal, and then Port of Long Beach Queen Mary, and you can get an idea. You should be able to do it. Maybe Cunard has a tour when you get closer to your departure look at the offered tours.

    Hi,

Yes, the Queen Mary is approximately a 15 or 20 minute drive from the Port of Los Angeles. I have visited the Queen Mary on my own during port stops in Los Angeles. As mentioned above, Cunard may offer a shore excursion to the Queen Mary. I was able to take a shore excursion to the Queen Mary during a Crystal cruise that stopped in Los Angeles.

I highly recommend visiting the Queen Mary. It is very interesting and guided tours of the ship are offered. I have stayed aboard the Queen Mary multiple times before or after cruises.

  11. Hi,

I recently booked the five-night cruise on the Queen Elizabeth from Vancouver to Los Angeles (July 21-26, 2022). At the end of the cruise, I would like to spend some time on the original Queen Mary in Long Beach (which I always enjoy). I have had multiple cruises cancelled during the past eight months, but I am hopeful that the vaccines will be successful and cruising will return to normal by this time.

  12. Hi,

My stateroom was 4047 during a Mediterranean cruise on the very similar Queen Victoria in September 2018. This was a nice stateroom in an excellent location. The balcony is spacious and the forward stairs and elevators are very close. It is very convenient to take the stairs to the public rooms on Decks 2 and 3.

The Queen Elizabeth is a wonderful ship. I was supposed to sail on it again in June 2020, but of course my cruise was cancelled.

  13. Hi,

I certainly miss cruises. My most recent cruise was in December 2019. I had four cruises cancelled for 2020 (two Cunard, one Holland America and one Crystal). Beginning in 1982, I have taken at least one cruise every year. 2020 is breaking my streak. I haven't left Chicago since December.

I currently have only one cruise booked - the Koningsdam seven-day coastal cruise from San Diego to Vancouver scheduled for late April 2021. I am not very confident that this cruise will actually take place. At least I have a lot of great memories.

Which is why I chose refunds - rather than FCC . Took a long time for the refunds to eventuate, but I am happy that we went this way. The future is too unclear for me!!!!

    Hi,

I feel the same way. I chose (and eventually received) refunds for my two Cunard cruises that were cancelled this year.

Good morning Chuck and thanks for the kind comment.

I have to confess that initially, following lockdown, we did seem fortunate to still be able to enjoy watching cruise ships pass. I photographed over 20 different cruise ships, the majority of which we had at some stage cruised on.

However, as time progressed and the numbers increased, the reality of the situation struck home and the dreadful situation we are living through, as are the cruise lines themselves,  became more and more  graphically played out before our  very eyes.

On that note I'm happy to complete the Cunard fleet on your behalf: her is Queen Elizabeth outbound on 26 July...

Have a nice day and here's to getting back cruising.

    Hi,

Thanks for posting the photo of the Queen Elizabeth. I have sailed aboard all three ships of the current Cunard fleet. I was supposed to travel aboard the Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth again this year, but both cruises were cancelled. Along with the QM2, these are my favorite ships. My most recent cruise was on the Sky Princess in December 2019.

I understand how seeing the empty ships sailing by could be depressing. This terrible situation is dragging on much too long.

Beginning in 1982, I have taken at least one cruise every year. Unfortunately, 2020 will end my cruising streak. In addition to my two cancelled Cunard cruises, I also had cruises for 2020 booked with Holland America and Crystal that were cancelled. I hope to return to cruising in 2021.

    Chuck
