  1. Hi,

I agree that the solo staterooms on the QM2 are excellent. The rooms are spacious and attractive. Also, the locations are very convenient.

In 2016, I booked an inside stateroom and was upgraded to a solo stateroom on Deck 2. In 2017, I booked an inside stateroom and was upgraded to a solo stateroom on Deck 3. I liked both types of staterooms: the high ceiling in the Deck 2 rooms and the large round windows in the Deck 3 rooms.

I am planning to check this out as well ,I grew up with the Love Boat and am pretty excited...

However having lived in Mexico, not so excited about the our port stops...I know a member answered this in a previous post...but i wish that Princess would put out some more info on, will there be a autograph session?, will you be able to take pictures with the cast if you buy the pictures?..Etc...

    Hi,

I am booked on this Love Boat cruise and hope that it will be great. However, due to the number of passengers on this ship, I have a feeling that any personal interaction with the cast may be limited. The Majestic Princess is a much larger ship than the Pacific Princess that was used for the 2015 Love Boat cruise. I don't see how they can have the cast sign hundreds (or thousands) of autographs and pose in hundreds (or thousands) of photographs with passengers. COVID protocols also may limit any interaction with the cast. Of course, protocols may change by February.

I cruised aboard the Majestic Princess last week and booked the cruise through the onboard future cruise consultant. The ship was sailing at reduced capacity with 1,800 passengers. The future cruise consultant thought that the cruise would definitely sail with more than 1,800 passengers but would still be under full capacity.

During my recent cruise, several of the performers told to the audience to be sure to "hi" if they saw the performers around the ship. I hoped to meet some of the performers and tell them that I enjoyed their shows. Unfortunately, I never saw any of the performers around the ship.

I am excited about the Love Boat cruise, but I hope that I am not disappointed. I had previously booked a cruise for February on the new Rotterdam. I have decided to cancel the Rotterdam cruise so that I can do the Love Boat cruise instead.

That sounds encouraging.  I think it should be remembered that not all episodes featured were based on Pacific Princess.  The Alaskan one I viewed recently was clearly on the Island Princess and the Pacific Princess was visible in the distance at one point.  It may come as a shock to some people but the "Love Boat" was actually a number ships and not all of them were Princess ships.  I did notice a P&O flag on Captain Stubing's cap.

    Regards John

    Hi,

Yes, the vast majority of the episodes were set on the Pacific Princess, but there were special episodes filmed on other Princess ships and even ships sailing for other cruise lines. These were the episodes (frequently two-hour episodes) primarily shown during later seasons that featured more distant ports. I specifically remember episodes filmed on P&O's Sea Princess, Sun Lines' Stella Solaris and a Royal Viking Line ship.

As a big fan of the show, I was happy to cruise aboard the original Pacific Princess to Bermuda in 2002 during its final year with Princess. It was a great ship, but of course its small staterooms were nothing like the stateroom sets featured on the show.

We were in the Majestic for this and prior cruise.  The Symphony dining room is closed to passengers as they are utilizing for crew dining so they can social distance.

    Hi,

Thanks for the clarification. I knew that the Symphony Dining Room was not being used by passengers, but I did not realize that it was being used for crew dining.

We were also on that same cruise last week.  My only concern was the very very strong chlorine odor was in the Hollywood pool room; you had to walk through that area to get to the Conservatory.   They need a door between the pool area and Conservatory.    It definitely is a beautiful area for viewing and relaxing at the front of the ship but we would never stay very as you could always smell some  slight chlorine.

    Hi,

I didn't notice the smell, but I did not really spend any time in the Hollywood Pool Club. I attended the pumpkin carving demonstration and the Elite event one of the nights early in the cruise in the Hollywood Conservatory. Of course, wearing a mask reduces what I am able smell. I do think doors between these two areas would be a good idea.

Have so many bags at home that we left ours on Majestic last week.

    Hi,

Yes, I have a very large stack of these bags in one of my closets. I don't need any more of these bags, but I always seem to bring them home.

  7. Hi,

I recently cruised aboard the Majestic Princess to the Mexican Riviera from Oct. 30 through Nov. 6, 2021 and a wonderful time. This was my first cruise on the Majestic Princess, but I have cruised on three of her sisters in the past: Royal Princess (maiden voyage - 2013), Regal Princess (2014), and Sky Princess (2019).

Overall, this was my 96th cruise (I began cruising as a small child in 1967) and my 23rd cruise with Princess.

Majestic Princess Compared to Other Royal Class Ships

Because the Majestic Princess was designed for the Asian market, it was interesting seeing the design differences compared to her sisters. One of the main differences was the enclosed Hollywood Conservatory forward on Deck 17. This is an attractive area with many windows and large skylights. This space was used as the Elite Lounge in the late afternoon / early evening. Also, the nearby Hollywood Pool Club has a domed retractable ceiling and is used as the nightclub in the evening (with cool blue lighting).

The Vista Lounge on Deck 7 aft (the "Vista Gaming Lounge") is similar to this lounge on the other ships but it has tables for board / card games toward the rear of the room. The chairs were arranged in rows behind the tables. This looked a little strange compared to this lounge in her sister ships but functioned fine.

The area next to the casino on Deck 6 is the Casino VIP lounge / Double Down Bar. It is somewhat similar to the nightclub that occupies this space on her sister ships, but there is a private gaming area forward, no dance floor, and a wall of video monitors showing sporting events.

The area on Deck 5 that houses Sabatini's Trattoria on the sister ships houses the Harmony Chinese restaurant on the Majestic. Although the menu differs, this restaurant is very similar in appearance to the comparable space on the Sky Princess.

Like her sister ships, the Majestic Princess is a very attractive ship.

    Dining

I sailed on this cruise solo and tried all three of the specialty restaurants for dinner. Although this is a matter of taste, my favorite restaurant was Bistro Sur La Mer, followed by the Crown Grill and then Harmony. I also had dinner two nights in the Concerto Dining Room and two nights in the Allegro Dining Room. The other main dining room (Symphony) was not used during my cruise because the ship was sailing with only slightly over 1,800 passengers. I enjoyed the food in both main dining rooms and did not notice any reduction in food quality. However, the portions definitely are smaller. I also had lunch two days at Alfredo's Pizzeria (which was excellent). I ate the rest of my meals in the World Fresh Marketplace. I also stopped by the International Cafe on Deck 5 on several occasions for a small snack. Overall, I was pleased with my dining experiences and enjoyed the friendly and efficient service.

I made all of my dining reservations prior to the cruise on the MadallionClass App and always was promptly seated.

    Stateroom

I had a standard balcony stateroom on Deck 12 that was located very close to the midship stairs. My stateroom was fine and I liked the location. The balcony was narrow, but it did not bother me.

    Entertainment and Activities

I went to the main show each evening and enjoyed the entertainment. On several evenings, I attended two different shows. I also went to lectures during the day that were interesting. In particular, I was impressed with the Cruise Director (Kevin Tugwell) and his staff.  They conducted a lot of fun activities such as games and trivia throughout the cruise. There were elaborate Halloween decorations in the Piazza during the first part of the cruise and special Halloween activities.

    Medallion

I am no technology wiz, but I did not experience any trouble with my Medallion or the MedallionClass App during my cruise. Also, I had no problem using the Internet aboard the ship on my two year old iPhone X.

    Ports

I did shore excursions arranged by Princess in each of the ports: Cabo San Lucas (Cabo Coastal Cruise), Mazatlan (Mazatlan City Highlights Express), and Puerto Vallarta (Best of Puerto Vallarta). I originally booked the Scenic Harbor Cruise for Mazatlan, but this was canceled due to lack of participation. I was pleased with all of the excursions. Note that we had to wear masks on the tours.

    Conclusion

This was a very enjoyable cruise and my second cruise after COVID began (I also cruised aboard the Celebrity Summit in early July out of St. Maarten). Although cruises have needed to change and adapt due to COVID, I had a wonderful time on both cruises. During my cruise, Princess announced that the Majestic Princess is doing a special Love Boat theme cruise in late February. As a big fan of the show, I immediately went to the future cruise consultant and booked this cruise.

I highly recommend this ship and cruise.

  8. Hi,

I cruised aboard the Majestic Princess last week. There is no charge for the Hollywood Conservatory and there are small private areas with seats near the windows. The Conservatory is used as the Elite Lounge in the late afternoon / early evening and for some events (for example, the pumpkin carving demonstration for Halloween). This is a very attractive area with skylights. The nearby Hollywood Pool Club is used as the nightclub in the evenings.

I really enjoyed this cruise and booked the Love Boat theme cruise on this ship that departs on Feb. 26.

  9. Hi,

I cruised aboard the Sky Princess in December 2019 in a mini-suite (R410) that is near the Sea Walk. This is a great stateroom with a larger angled balcony. Due to the different design of the Sea Walk on this ship, I think these balconies have more privacy compared to the earlier ships in this class. The Sky Princess is a beautiful ship.

  10. Hi,

I am booked on the October 30 cruise on the Majestic Princess. It will be interesting to see how many passengers are on the cruise. In July, I took a seven-day cruise on the Celebrity Summit and there were only 400 passengers (on a ship with capacity for over 2,000). This was wonderful, but obviously cruise lines can't sail for very long with such reduced numbers.

  11. Hi,

My dinner reservation for Bistro Sur La Mer on the Majestic Princess for November 1, 2021 has disappeared on the app. However, my dinner reservation for Harmony for November 2 still shows up. I am particularly interested in trying Harmony because it is unique to this ship.

That's a bummer, we always enjoyed staying there before boarding a cruise in LA.

    Hi,

I enjoyed staying aboard the Queen Mary in Long Beach prior to several cruises out of San Pedro. Unfortunately, the Queen Mary has been closed for the past 17 months. It is unclear when (or if) the Queen Mary will reopen.

  13. Hi,

The status of these ports seems to change very rapidly. It is impossible to know what the status of a particular port may be several months from now. However, Celebrity seems to be flexible and make changes to itineraries when necessary.

I cruised aboard the Celebrity Summit on the sailing that departed from St. Maarten on July 10, 2021. The original itinerary was Barbados, St. Kitts and Tortola. Upon boarding the ship, we learned that St. Kitts was being replaced with St. Lucia. During the cruise, Tortola was replaced with Curacao (which required the ship to sail further and use more fuel). I'm sure that these itinerary changes necessitated a lot of work for the cruise line (refunding shore excursions for the canceled ports, scheduling shore excursions in the new ports, etc.)

The cruise was excellent and Celebrity made every effort to provide us with the best cruise and itinerary possible. I had a wonderful time and have several future cruises planned.

  14. Hi,

I am booked on the October 30, 2021 cruise on the Majestic Princess. I made dinner reservations and prepaid for each of the three specialty restaurants. As discussed above, my reservation for Bistro Sur La Mer has disappeared. Also, this no longer is available as a dining option for my cruise. I enjoyed this restaurant aboard the Sky Princess. I wonder if this is an issue with the app or this restaurant is no longer available. If it is no longer available, we should be receiving a refund of the dining charge that we prepaid.

  15. Hi,

I just deleted my passport information and then re-scanned my passport and took a new photo. I am now back to green lane status. I tried this yesterday, but it didn't work. Fortunately, this worked today. If you are having this problem, you may want to try re-scanning your passport.

  16. Hi,

This problem is particularly annoying because all of my information had been accepted and I was approved for green lane. I didn't make any changes, but my travel documents were suddenly rejected and now I am blue lane.

Telephone support isn't good in the US, either. I had to wait a very long time before I was able to speak to someone.

We have tried to check in for an upcoming cruise via the app but it does not appear to accept our passport issue dates, keeps just deleting it.

Has anyone had a similar issue?

We did wonder if it may be because in the UK when you renew passports they give any remaining months extra onto

the new passport,  so over 10 years from issue to expiry.

Another issue we have is ordering the medallion, one of ours went through correctly but the other passenger seems to just keep getting 2 lanyards in the order

summary and no medallion. No way of emptying the basket or deleting a lanyard either.

    Any ideas?

    Hi,

I am in the US and have the exact same problem. I entered all of my information in the app and was fine (green lane) until yesterday. The system now won't accept my passport issue date (I have a new passport that was issued in May). I called Princess yesterday and learned that they are having a technical problem with the app. Other people are experiencing the same problem. Hopefully this will be resolved soon.
