  1. Glad to see the folks that opted to cruise had a open mind and had a good time despite the weather related changes. CCL provided a nice package.

How many guests were on this cruise?

Initially it was sold out. 1600 people sailed to New York. When we got back to Baltimore, there was 700 of us left.

  2. Just disembarked. Had a blast. Weather was great, seas were smooth. Would do this again in a heartbeat.

Completely satisfied with the way Carnival handled everything.

Many people got off the ship in NYC. Since Wednesday, there was only 700 people left on the ship.

Yes, we did pay taxes while in NY, and the casino was closed. There was still plenty to do.

The crew went above and beyond.

My final sign and sail bill was only $27. Lol

  3. Wow! Can't believe that many people chose to find their own way.

Congrats on the upgrade & that's a great $ deal you wound up with! Plus you've got the right attitude about this ordeal. Hope you all stay safe.

My only question, it seems to me you are going to be IN the storm on the way back to Bmore. I live in DE & weather guessers are saying we're going to get something this weekend. If the ship isn't back until Sunday, it seems that places the ship in it. ??? For some reason, this storm confuses me. Everyone I ask and every where I look I feel like I'm getting different info.

    Have fun & stay safe!!

Not sure. They are taking 3 days to get us back to Baltimore. They did say that we may be back Saturday night/very early Sunday. We are not allowed to disembark until 9 am Sunday.

I'm assuming they will beat the storm since we have plenty of time to get back.

  4. Didn't realize that is how they figure the 50% off discount? I know we had a itinerary change last year on a cruise to Bermuda which resulted in a 25% off future cruise discount. We waited to apply it to a Southern Caribbean cruise which was of more value and use the discount then. They actually took the 25% off the cruise fare and didn't have anything to do with our original cruise fare. Don't understand why it would be different?

We had a 25% discount on our canceled sandy cruise. It was not based on our original fare either.

  5. Lots of people disembarked today. We heard there is now only 1000 onboard now.

My 4K that I was in just turned into an extended balcony on the 7th deck.

And I figured it out. I booked this as a group cruise and took $595 in conductors credit. Add to that, the $750 in onboard credit from carnival. All totaled I only paid $395 for this cruise for 3 people. I'll take that any day. I'm a happy camper!

  6. Quoted from the above article, "So far, Carnival says they will give guests $250 to spend on board and 50 percent off a future cruise. Many said they have no intention of taking Carnival up on that offer."

If it was possible to transfer that 50% off deal, I would GLADLY take it off their hands.

I'm more than satisfied for sure. Even being from buffalo, we hardly ever get the chance to visit NYC. We are docked at pier 88, 6 blocks from Times Square. Loving it!

  7. Medianeh I'm from buffalo too. Are you sailing Saturday on Sunshine barring any cancellations? I think we will be fine, keeping a positive attitude.

No, I'm on the pride right now. We sailed on oct 2, and was supposed to go to Grand Turk, Half moon cay, and Freeport. But they changed us to NYC and St. John's. We are not going to St. John's now either.

  8. This is a great deal, and I would have gone regardless, but I can understand why people cancelled. Many have limited vacation time that they can take from work, so they can't just take another cruise soon. I wouldn't want to wait to accumulate more vacation days to take the cruise I wanted.

Also, is there an expiration on the 50% off?

I'm not sure if there is an expiration. Letter from the captain doesn't specify.

  9. We are still going!

We were on the canceled hurricane Sandy cruise. (What luck, huh? Lol). So I look at it like this: At least it wasn't canceled! Any day on a cruise is better than no cruise at all, right?

Besides, we won't have to worry about contracting Zika virus, we won't burned to a crisp. AND, I still don't have to work for a whole week, no cooking, and I won't even have to make my own damn bed!

I'm sure the crew will take good care of us.

Would I rather be on a beach in warm weather? Yes, absolutely. But I want to be able to bring my family home safe even more.

I'm down here in Baltimore with 20 members of my family. That's what counts!

  10. We are only coming in from Harrisburg PA to Baltimore. I feel so bad for the people that travled far to Baltimore and already have there stuffed packed for warm weather. I believe we are still going to go and just make the the best of it. I know I need a vacation still!! Does anyone know if we still get a 25% discount on another cruise if we dont cancel this one?

I believe we still get the discount.

  11. The pride is going to New York City and St. John.

Not quite the vacation I was planning since all we brought was warm weather clothes. Oh well it's still better than being at work.

We will be safe, and now I have the chance to see the 911 memorial that we've wanted to see.

  12. I have a question... When something like this happens and you end up in another US port, are you still able to board with Birth Certificate and ID? Or do you have to have a passport in this case? I know, you should always take a passport, but surely there is going to be a few guests boarding tomorrow that don't have passports, just curious, what happens with that??

It's still a closed loop cruise. Everything is the same.
