  1. Yeah that comment is what I would classify, if I'm feeling kind, as "unnecessary".

I'm cruising 10/2 as well and, at this point, I know I'm sailing an unknown itinerary. You may be as well. But I'm pretty certain this won't be a Sandy repeat. Just know there are folks here with fingers crossed wishing you a great cruise! Ignore the negativity & have a blast please! :D

    Thanks!

Oh I know we will have a great time no matter where we go. I'll have 7 (actually 8 because we are leaving for Baltimore on Saturday) of no work, cooking, or cleaning. That in itself works for me!!

I'm just have nightmares of history repeating itself. Not to mention we have 20 people going on this cruise!

  2. So for those of us on the pride oct 2, if projections are correct, what is plan b for the eastern Caribbean route out of Baltimore?

That's what I'd like to know as well. We are also going on the Pride Oct 2nd.

I'm having nightmares of the last time we were "supposed" to be on the Pride when Hurricane Sandy hit.

We were on the ship (and my mother was unpacked!), and they canceled our cruise while we were on it. They made us get off. Needless to say, I need to quit scheduling cruises out of Baltimore in October. ugh.

  3. I am going to be on this one with you! We will see what happens!

I am on this one too.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried. We were on the Hurricane Sandy cruise that was canceled after we boarded the ship.

It can't happen twice, right?

  4. We will have a family group leaving out of Baltimore on the Pride where we will be car pooling so a kid might be riding with a different family (and who are in a different cabin) than theirs. I want therefore to choose the same check-in times as soon as possible so we don't have say a kid and their parents at different times. It would appear that we can print out our boarding passes as soon as we make our final payment even if that might be months before the sailing date?? Once we do that, will we then be able to choose our check-in times Is that correct that we can print our boarding passes as soon as we make our final payment and can we then choose our check-in even if it is a few months before sailing or does Carnival make one wait until close to the sailing to choose one's check-in time?

I just did this. We are a group of 20 people with 10 cabins booked for the Pride.

Once everyone was paid in full, I completed all the online check-in and picked the same time for everyone for the check-in, and printed the boarding passes. I did this in mid July (final payment was July 19th), and our cruise is October 2nd.

    Had no issue whatsoever.

  5. Yes that's the sailing I'm on! It's a date! :D There are quite a few people onboard celebrating birthdays so you should definitely book it too.

    Hi Kim!

Sorry for hijacking this thread, but wasn't sure how to send you a private message!

This is Diane, we met on a flight back on June 1st when you were working!

Just wanted to say "hi". Thanks for the wonderful hospitality on the flight, you made me feel special! Hoping to cruise with you someday!!!

    Diane

  6. I've experienced both.

Went on the Dream in October 2010. No problem whatsoever. Did the western Caribbean. Smooth seas.

We booked the Pride sailing out of Baltimore for October 2012. Hurricane Sandy was making her way up the east coast. Contacted Carnival the morning of our cruise and they were still sailing. Went to the port, got on the ship, had lunch - my mother got her luggage and unpacked. About 3:00 (set to sail at 4:00), the cruise director came on the loud speaker and said that the coast guard had closed the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay, so therefore this cruise is cancelled! So we had to get off the ship and drive back home. Talk about frustration! But we ended up re-booking for April and had a great cruise!

  7. As I said it depends on the particular cruise and date. Also, the berth is just the cruise fare and not port charges and taxes. The discount is also based upon the types of rooms you have booked. There are some cruises where it is not offered at all.

    This is true.

I currently have a group cruise booked. So far we have 10 cabins booked (11th being booked tomorrow), and as of right now (before my 11th cabin booking, I'm getting nearly $600 off my cruise. We have everything booked from a suite to an inside.

  8. That happened on a recent hurricane...Irene, Isabell, or Sandy. They weathered the storm in the bay on Sunday night and ended cancelling the cruise.

It was Sandy, my brother was suppose to be on that cruise, actually they got on the ship and were having a drink after lunch when they were told the cruise was cancelled and all pax needed to get off asap....ship weathered the storm in the bay....

Yep. I was on the cancelled Sandy cruise too. We had 18 people that drove to Baltimore from western New York. (Buffalo area). After loading up with Dramamine, eating lunch on the Lido deck, having a few drinks, and some were unpacked - they cancelled our cruise.

Needless to say - NOT a fun ride ride home back to Buffalo and getting home at 1:00 am.

Hope you all fare better than we did.

  9. MW,

IMO Carnival owes nothing in this case. As you stated Carnival didn't choose to be diverted and they did pay for a more expensive replacement port. Like you, Carnival did not plan an Eastern cruise either.

Who is at fault? Fidel Castro and the our government's outdated policy of isolating Cuba; it isn't working, never has worked, and never will work. The only people who suffer are Cubans, US Tax payers, and US cruise operators / passengers.

    Well said. I agree 100%.
