My plan today was to be at Walmart (do most of my grocery shopping there) at 7 when they opened. But after seeing on the news last night that starting today Walmart is only allowing 5 customers per 1000 sq ft of space, I decided I didn’t really need any groceries from there right now. I didn’t want to get there 5 minutes too late and have to wait outside for someone to leave so I could go in. I read on their website that you will only be able to enter at one of the entrances and exit only at a different door. Also they are marking the aisles to be one way traffic. I don’t think I want to deal with that right now. Life sure is different now.

I went to Costco in Avon today.  Or tried.  I'm assuming they've put some limits in place as well.  The line to get in looked like a line for a coaster at Cedar Point!!!  And they were NOT distancing.  I decided I didn't need anything that badly and walked away.  I knew better; meant to go last night but went for a walk instead.

Vancouver has hit an all new low (or high?) - lots of toilet paper on the shelf here but check out the price! $34.99. Absolutely criminal.

    Wow, talk about price gouging!!!

I have heard several people say they didn't like him until this whole nonsense started.  I agree, he has done a great job handling the whole thing.  Apparently Dr. Acton. is also becoming a hero in her own right.

    Dr. Acton deserves it.

Well, we have not been out of the house (other than to sit on the front patio) in 2 weeks. Today was a beautiful day so I took the opportunity to take the kids for a walk. We are so fortunate to have the seawall right on our doorstep - though it is also the reason we haven't been outside since everyone has been flocking there for their "outside" time! Thankfully, the messages from our government asking people to stay home and stay in their neighbourhoods/close to home finally seem to be sinking in. I'm happy to say we barely encountered anyone on our walk and those we did see kept their distance. Here are some pics from our walk...

I loved walking the seawall when I was in Vancouver pre-cruise years ago.  So beautiful.

Surprisingly, pretty much whenever you want as far as food goes is widely available... The only thing you still can't hardly find is toilet paper... For the life of me, I have no idea what these people are going to do with all that toilet paper once this blows over...

Funny thing, I've been in stores that have posted no-return policies for TP now!

Ventured out for some necessities from the drug store and one "other" place. Only one customer in each place so I felt safe. And now that I have my necessities I can start thinking of recipes for a stomach-flab pizza, as illustrated above.

The black shadow on the left is Batman, looking for something for himself (unsuccessfully).

Looks like you have all the necessities!

Speaking of...has anyone cruises with MSC and have an opinion to share? I've looked at some of their cruises on bigger ships.

I did a short MSC this past November on Meraviglia.  However, I did Yacht Club and spent most of my time there.  I did some exploring and it was a beautiful ship.  All the crew that I interacted with were great.  Pizza was delicious!!!  I have Seaside booked for 5/2, but who knows if that will happen.

  9. I am so sorry to hear how this is negatively impacting so many of the Tribe and their families.  I'm thankful I'm safe (for now anyway) as we support “federal critical infrastructure sectors” which include chemicals, food, and pharmaceuticals.

Fancy way of saying we're a chemical distributor for key markets; food, chemicals, medical, etc.

Congratulations on such a sweet deal!  Our June 21st RCL cruise was canceled as expected.  We are looking at the same itinerary in September so hopefully we'll get some good perks too!

Stay safe everyone, it's going to get worse over the next 2 to 3 weeks then hopefully level off.

Did you cancel it, or did RCL?

PA closed their liquor stores down as of this past Tuesday. Fortunately, we are stocked for a zombie apocalypse here. I wonder what the lines were like on Monday. Yikes!

i didn’t hear of any riots, but....

I'm trying to find the source, but I was told our liquor stores will likely be closing in 48-72 hours, for two weeks.  I don't have anything to back that up, but I went at lunch time to stock up.

  12. Glad I went to the liquor store Saturday.  After our governor announced the closure of restaurants and bars, apparently the lines at the liquor store were longer than those for toilet paper!

I've just been given word to start working from home tomorrow.  I'm one of the small percentage that works on a laptop at the office.  But I'm guessing by the end of the week everyone will be remote.

And now they just closed all the bars and restaurants effective at 9pm tonight. Restaurants are allowed to serve takeout and delivery only.

Just saw that.  Wow is all I can say.

Joe just went to our town library and came back reporting they are closed for a month. I have read that libraries, although not crowded, are very germy due to all the books and DVDs being handled by so many people. Still, it's stuff like this that really saddens me. Yet more people unable to earn an income. I fear next to go are restaurants...

They closed ours as well.  They are doing drive up book pickup at some of them.  Not sure how that works, but I’ll be looking for e-books.

  15. Went to the grocery store this morning, just to hit the liquor store.  Ohio also controls all hard liquor sales, but conveniently the state liquor store is in the grocery store.  Store actually wasn’t crowded, no more than a normal Saturday.  I did want to pick up milk, but it was wiped out.  There were empty shelves here and there but restocking was going on.  It’s still open 24/7, so I’ll head out to do my actual shopping early tomorrow.

Work is piloting work from home this week.  I have a feeling that’s going to happen very soon.  They still haven’t put a travel ban in place, though they are suggesting meetings be done on skype.

    The world has gone crazy.
