I'm sorry to hear this happened. We just got off the Summit, and there were rumors on board. They were just rumors, though. Even the crew weren't sure. It sounded like Celebrity were arm wrestling with the feds about this requirement and lost. I assume they did not want to cancel until they had to. That's the way it goes right now. No one ever wants to call off due to rain until they really have to.
It's not due to sales. We were sailing at 25% capacity, and they were delighted. The Captain said they weren't nearly as concerned about making money as they were trying to build confidence both with consumers and half the world's governments.
Those that have lost their faith or confidence, feel free to step aside. I've got some cruising to do.
Cheers!

I’m on the repositioning trip on the 28th. I’ve spoken to the Retreat concierge who was checking on our preferences. I asked how many were booked for the trip and she said 40-50%. They took it down as they are at the limit they want. Since it’s not actually sold out, this may be how they have to override the software. 🤷♀️
I hope that is the case! They were saying something about increasing the capacity, as well (we were at 25%).

I no longer bring a jacket, and I'm not so concerned about bringing formal shoes. That's actually reduced my packing load quite a bit!

If you really want to dine in a particular place at a particular time, then you're better off just making the reservation and paying for it online before the cruise. You have to be flexible with the packages. Sometimes, they work out as you like them, but not always. Essentially, that's the price of the discount.

We were just on board, and I thought I heard someone saying that Summit would have a period with no passengers during the shift from St. Maarten to Miami. Please, please, please don't take that as very reliable, though. I don't recall who I heard say that (could just have been a rumor from another guest).

My heart goes out to you and your family. May you recover swiftly and smoothly and be able to have your vacation!

Very few artists never sold out.If you were to google wealthiest rock singers you might be surprised.
Indeed. If they never "sold out" (a term I really do abhor), we likely never would have heard of them.

And so it goes . . . .

Yeah, they sold out.
It is possible for pop artists to sell out?

Thank you. So scared of messing up the dang form.
I was, too. Then, I just got a more Caribbean vibe and used The Force on some of those where our answers did not quite fit the question. I figured they knew there were cruisers coming. I also saw so many cruisers talk about getting their approvals quickly, so I also figured they weren't trying to get anyone too tangled up in red tape. 🙂

They went disco thinking that was where the money was.
And they were right. The soundtrack for Saturday Night Fever has sold something like 40 million copies, more than half of which were sold in the first few years.

From one Texan to another (ok we are English but our grandson is a born and bred Texan living in Dallas that makes us honorary Texans)
I concur!

In fact, though it is minor, the moisture that condenses on the outside of the extra cold bucket serves to remove a very small amount of humidity from the air - though it too will eventually evaporate.
I was going to say precisely that.

But this is far more important! Cheers!

I am thinking that even with the pier embarkation test, any exposure on route, in the airport or plane would not show up as positive for a few days. Covid could still get on the ship even with negative tests at the pier. Almost the same risk as with the three day test.
I agree. That delay between contracting COVID and when it can be detected is one way positive cases are slipping through now. That's just life.

If someone takes the test three days prior to their flight to the US, but is here a week before boarding the ship…does that still count?
From everything I've seen and heard, no. You'll need two tests.

So many people think it's a great idea to get tested at the Pier with a Rapid Test.
OK...So I fly in from wherever. Paid for flights, stayed at a hotel room for the night prior to the cruise. I walk up to check in and test POSITIVE. So, I'm out the air fare, hotel. I might have to book a last minute flight home. Do they quarantine me a hotel, medical facility(additional cost)? And to make matters worse, I can't cruise! Not a very good alternative. This Strain of Covid is highly transmissible. We are booked on the Equinox for the 8/8 sailing. Weighing my alternatives.
I was talking about this in some thread (this one or another--hard to keep track). I can't imagine they do much of anything except hold up a cross and tell you to begone (although I think they also refund your fare). While there are worse things than being turned away at the pier, there aren't many.
I agree that I would much rather get tested before I headed out, even if I were required to be tested at the pier!

I see where the form references “stamped and signed national vaccination card”. Neither of our cards have a signature line, nor were they signed by the people administering the vaccine. Can anyone provide input as to how they handled this.
Ah, yes. None of the CDC ones have that. We just scanned and uploaded the front of our CDC cards (we each uploaded the front of our respective card on our respective application), and that worked just fine.

I do wonder if the 'captive' port area will be an exception to the excursion rule. Senor Frog's is in that area in Cozumel, right?
DW says it's not. They take a taxi. (I've never been, so I had to ask.)
She added that Three Amigos is.

If I cancel my cruise before final payment I will get my $200.00 no refundable deposit in a future FCC correct?
Yes. Your deposit and anything you may have paid toward the cruise fare will be returned as FCC. Anything excursions, spa, packages, dining, etc. that you've done through the cruise planner will be refunded in cash to your original payment method.

Hoping that policy changes before our Nov sailing. We'd likely stay onboard in Grand Cayman anyway, but not in Cozumel.
So does DW, and before November. She's on a "divas cruise" in October. All her group does is get off and go to Senor Frog's for a while (not quite her thing, but she likes being with her friends, and it's fun enough).

However, further down, for unvaxxed guests (which I am now considered due to mixing vaccines), it says that a PCR test is required prior to arriving at the terminal. Is an Antigen test acceptable?
If a PCR test is required, I would not expect an antigen test to suffice. They are different tests.
In fact, if they specify a nasopharyngeal test, be sure that's what you get. That's the deep poke up the nose. An oral swab is not the same thing.

I’d like clarification on the three days prior to cruise lingo. If my cruise sails on Saturday, can I have the test done on Wednesday?
I can't speak for RCL specifically, but those that have been embarking Celebrity ships on Saturdays have reported that crew were just looking for tests conducted the previous Wednesday.

RCL should have gone 95%+ like their sister company did....
A lot of us would like that, but families with young children are RCL's bread & butter. You may as well limit Disney World to 95% vaccinated.
Celebrity, Azamura, and Silversea . . . not so much.

As far as you like. You can always cancel them for a refund if you change your mind. Same goes for the package (although I don't believe you can cancel the package once on board).
