  1. On a 13 day cruise to Alaska, you only have 4 days in AK. I can't imagine why anyone would take the cruise unless they did not really like Alaska - in which case why take a cruise to Alaska.

Makes no sense to me. Obviously though based on the comments in the thread, I must be in the minority.

    DON

You have the same number if days in Alaska as you do on just about any Alaska cruise with many relaxing sea days as well. It is much like the Hawaii cruise we love - 14 or 15 days with 4 in Hawaii.

Wish we could join those of you going on this trip.

  2. DH has had one stuck on the door to the master bedroom in our house for as long as I can remember. He also starts placing Princess chocolates on my pillow and a room service menu on our bed about a week before we leave for a cruise. He's crazy, but he makes life fun. :D

That's so funny. We have one with my parents name hanging on the wall outside our guest bedroom so they will feel more at home when they come to visit. Last time we added the chocolates to the pillow.

  3. +1

That is a great idea. I'm going to do it, too. Princess can't push me around. If they change the mailboxes to ones that don't have the slot, I'll tape it on. :D

Maybe we can bring old ones from prior cruises. That would cause confusion, especially from those who wonder why they don't have a name tag on their mailbox.

  4. Many thanks Vette Gal. Now I am able to find it on line. But, WOW is it expensive! I guess that's the way with holiday cruises. Thanks to everyone for assisting with their preferences. Perhaps someday we will join a transatlantic cruise, visit in Europe for a few days, then fly home. So long for now.

It's definitely more expensive because it's a holiday cruise, overlapping both Christmas and New Years. Any other sailing is typically cheaper. Because of my work schedule, I am limited to when I can travel. Sometimes you get lucky though. After booking, we were able to change the fare to include gratuities and obc.

  5. We did a San Francisco to Hawaii Christmas & New Years trip in 2014. Our first full day was a sea day and the following day we were in Ensenada. I do not remember having to go through customs when we arrived in Hilo.

We are doing the L.A. to Hawaii Christmas & New Years trip this year again. I just checked our itinerary. Our first full day will be in Ensenada.

I am happy to get Ensenada out of the way because we don't care for Ensenada.

We are on that cruise too, and I was just going to post this same comment. I will add that on our cruise they stop in Ensenada first so that we are not in port on Christmas or New Years when most places are closed.

  6. Last month on the Crown, the dining room door was wide open and we were welcomed. We too have been steered away from the MDR on previous cruises, but we are usually persistant because lunch in the MDR is my favorite way to start off a cruise, The menu has definitely been reduced over the last few years, but I am always happy with the selections since I love salmon.

  7. When there is a food allergy involved, the head waiter will typically come over to your table every night with the menu for the following night. You put in your order in advance, and they make sure it is made to your dietary needs. They are very good about this. As someone already said, make sure the allergy is listed in your cruise personalizer.

  8. Is this on all princess ships? If so, which bars? We are cruising on the Ruby in July.

I think it is on all ships. On the Crown it was in the Wheelhouse Bar from 3-4 and then in Skywalkers from 11 PM to 12 AM.

  9. Just got off the Crown yesterday. We always showed up about 2:55 (5 minutes early) and never had a problem getting a seat at a table. The closer it got to 4:00, the more crowded it would get. As others have previously stated, there was never a problem taking the opened and unopened beers back to the cabin.

  10. With the breakfast in Sabatinis can the other person in my stateroom not elite join me for Breakfast?

    Thanks!

    Tom:)

Breakfast in Sabatinis has nothing to do with being elite. If you are in a full (not mini) suite you can eat there. So long as they are in the suite too, they can also eat there.

  11. I'm soon to be elite. When I become elite can the person in the same stateroom with me attend the breakfast for elites.

    Thanks!

    Tom:)

Congratulations on becoming elite soon. Princess has some great perks, but they don't have elite breakfasts (like Celebrity does). They do have breakfast in Sabatinis if you are in a suite.

  12. I'm sorry I asked the question. I probably will not wear my nice crop, cuffed jeans to casual nights. But maybe I will. The answer is to bring enough clothes to have a choice.

I'm sorry about the rudeness of some of the responses. Cruising should equate with civility.

Wear jeans if you want. Who cares what anyone has to say. DH wears black jeans and a nice shirt every night except for formal night. I often wear dark blue or black jeans with a nice shirt as well. No one has ever turned us away from the dining room, and we were dressed nicer than many others.

You're are on vacation, so relax and be comfortable. Also, (unless you want to) you probably will never see those people in the dining room ever again anyway once you leave the ship.

  13. We have gone with Orca Enterprises twice. Captain Larry does the tour and he is phenomenal. You can arrange for them to drop you at Mendenhall and take the shuttle back to town.

    Happy Sails to You

    OOOEEE :D:D Bob and Phyl

If you have good weather try a helicopter tour with Temsco. It was the highlight of our cruise.

We did both of these. Captain Larry was great, and I highly recommend him, but I must say that the helicopter to the glacier was an unforgettable experience.

  14. The Presidio is at the intersection of Canon Perdido St. and Santa Barbara St.

Walk from the end of the pier(Cabrillo Street) 9 blocks up State Street to Canon Perdido St., turn right, go 2 blocks to the Presidio.

The trolley picks up at the end of the pier if you want to ride. The blocks are about 500ft. long. The total walk would be about a mile one way.

    Rick

    Thank you.

  15. I understand that some have taken offense to my 'jokester' posts.

I apologize for any offense taken.

Unfortunately, many have taken my posts in the wrong light as I was dead serious.....

People really need to lighten up, I really loved your posts, and even forwarded the links to a few friends. Keep them coming!;)
