  1. Wow, this is by far one of the best reviews and photo displays I have seen on

Cruise Critic. Thank you so very much for the wonderful review. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading and looking at all of the amazing pictures that you shared. It was so very interesting to read about your adventures because next July we are on the Holland Oosterdam on a cruise tour. Our itinerary in very similar to your trip. We begin in Fairbanks and end in Vancouver. There are 10 people in the group, all adults. Two of the couples I have not met yet. But, I have put together the trip and I certainly hope that is goes as well as yours did. Of course, I know cannot control the weather. In Fairbanks we have a day to ourselves, then the Rivew boat tour. Then it is off to Denali for 2 nights and the Wilderness Tundra tour. We ride on the McKinley express to Anchorage for over night and then on a train to Seward where we board the ship. The group be doing Glacier National Park (we have port side balaconies),

Juneau-Harv and Marv, (trying to decide whether or not to stay at Mendenhall Glacier or return to Juneau to explore the town)-your thoughts? We actually dock in Haines, so we have to take the ferry to Skagway. Logistics will be very important that day (already have my ferry tickets for 10). Once we are in Skagway we are going up the Klondike highway with Trails of 98 TNTours. They come highly recommended. The final stop is Ketchikan, we have chosen along with 4 others in the group to do the Island Wings Mystic Fjords Flight and then explore the town. We disembark in Vancouver where we are doing 2post days before returning home. When we get off the ship we have 4 hour city tour of Vancouver with Land Sea tours. The second day some are going on tour with the same company to Victoria, while others tour the city more or go outside the city to tour the area. I loved your tour of Kenai Fjords--I am going to see if we can add that in somehow, if not then I guess I have a reason to come back one day. Question about the camera--love the pictures that both cameras take. I have a Canon Sure shot SX280. I do love my camera, but I want to make sure I get really good pictures while I am doing this trip. But, not sure if I want to spend more money. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. I am so excited about this trip! An opportunity of a life time! Again, thank you so much for all the work you did to put together such an awesome review!!!

  2. We personally chose southbound to do next July. This is our first time on a cruise tour. Advised by others, do the land first and then on the cruise there are days where you can just relax and enjoy the scenery. Northbound tours are somewhat cheaper. It really does matter which way you go, there is so much to do and see wherever you to. I am certain we will have the time of our lives! Our tour in July 22 beginning in Fairbanks through Holland and we end in Vancouver with 2 post days. So we have a lot to look forward to! Good luck with your decision.

  3. Check out Trails of 98 (TNTours). We have booked with them the 7 hour tour in July for the tour up the Klondike highway. It you dock at 7, they will pick you up at that time. They come highly recommended and easy to work with. This company offers shorter trips that may be of interest to you. Whatever company you choose, if you begin at 7:30 you should be back by 2:30-3:00.

We have booked privately before and not had any problems. Good luck with your decision and enjoy your trip.

  4. Thank you so very much for sharing your wonderful review and amazing pictures. We are going on the Oosterdam next July Fairbanks to Vancouver. Our trip is very similar to the one that you went on.

Reading your review was certainly helpful. Greatly appreciate the time you took to put this review together. I am so excited about our trip in July. I have done lots of research and I have planned and booked the excursions that we will be doing. We have a trip packed full of activities. So glad you had such a fabulous time on your trip!

  5. Choosing a date is completely up to your own personal choice. From what I have read going to Alaska from mid July to mid August is a great time to go.

We are on Holland Oosterdam July 26 southbound beginning in Fairbanks on July 22 to Vancouver. Not knowing how mobile your mom and mother in law is that will determined what you can do in ports. This is what we have schedule to do on our first trip to Alaska--

Skagway- Trails of 98 (TNT) great reviews-a tour that takes you up the Klondike highway. We are on the 7 hour tour. Juneau-Harv and Marv Whale watch and in Ketchikan we are planning on walking around the town but there is the Duck tour where everyone could just sit back and enjoy the ride. Some of us are doing the Island Wing flight over the Misty Fjords. Check out each of these excursions. I have booked them all on my own, but once you have booked your cruise, you can register on line and book excursions through the cruise line. Hope this helps. Have fun!

  7. Check out Trails of 98 (TNT) tours. http://www.tntours98.com/#_=_

We have booked with this company for the 7 hour tour to go up the Klondike highway. I chose it from the reviews that I read online. Seems to be highly rated! Hope this helps! We are looking forward to our first trip in July to Alaska.

  8. We will be going on the Wilderness Tundra Tour through Holland on our tour.

But, trying to decide on which evening tour to take, if any at all. We were considering a Jeep or ATV tour, but on the Tundra tour we will be riding all day. While in Ketchikan, we are trying to decide whether or not to do the Misty Fjord National Monument tour with Island Wings. Any thoughts or opinions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  9. We are booked at the Westmark in Anchorage and Fairbanks. The reviews of both seem good. We have to stay there due to our cruise tour with Holland. In Vancouver after lots of research and comparing we have chosen the Blue Horizon to stay at. Great reviews, great location and the price was reasonable. I booked through Priceline, checked directly with hotel and it was all good. I just checked priceline prices and the Blue Horizon has good prices. First time booking through a company like this one. Good luck with your decision.

  10. After a lot of research last summer, we are booked on the Holland Oosterdam for July 26th out of Seward. We are doing the land/sea tour beginning in Fairbanks on the July 22nd. It is the 5DL tour Check it out. Very happy with our choice. Good luck on your decision.

  11. What ship are you on and when are you going? We are on the Holland Oosterdam July 26th. Our excursions are booked independently at each port. I did a lot of research to decide what to do at each port and what company to choose. We had no problems making the reservations. We are looking forward to our trip.

  12. We will be on the Holland Oosterdam July 26th. We have booked the whale watch in Juneau with Harv and Marv. The reviews are what sold me on that choice. I am hoping it will be a great time. What ship are you on and when are you going? Good luck on your decision.

  13. We are going on our first trip to Alaska on a cruise tour with Holland next July. I have our excursions all booked. I have booked with private companies that I have chosen for our group of 10 after a lot of research at each port. I am confident that our excursions will be fantastic! Looking forward to our trip!

  14. We have booked a 7 hour tour in Skagway up the Klondike highway next summer. We actually dock in Haines. We are planning on taking the fast ferry from Haines to Skagway. We dock at 6:30 it says, but I was told they actually dock earlier than that time. We have to be at the ferry by 6:40 at the latest. It leaves at 6:45. As anyone else experienced using the ferry? I am hoping that the logistics all work out. Any advice would be great appreciated.

    Thanks! Happy holidays to all!

  15. We are going to be in Vancouver next summer after a cruise tour. We are doing 2 post days. After a lot of research on this website and reading trip advisor reviews I have booked the Blue Horizon through Priceline. I watched the prices on the websites and the hotel website, I finally made the decision to book rooms for the 8 people in our group. It seems to be in a very good location and has city transportation right near the hotel. We also are going to book Landsea tours for the 4 hour city tour. Hope this helps. have a great trip!

  16. Thanks for sharing your great website! I have forwarded you website to all of the people that are traveling in our group next summer on a cruise tour on Holland. Your information is very helpful!

  17. This company http://vancouvertours.com/ will take your luggage for you for the time you are with them. Give them a call to make sure. And there are other tours that would take more off your time up. Then they would drop you right off at the airport. I am sure you can find something of interest. They have great tours. We may take the Sea to Sky tour on our second day while we are there. Good luck.

  18. That price is way too high! I would go to Australia for that price. We are booked for next summer on the Oosterdam D5L Fairbanks to Vancouver in July. We selected because of the itinerary. Check it out. Looking forward to our 12 day cruise tour and the cost is about 7000 for two people. That does not include insurance though. Good luck.

  19. After our cruise tour we plan to spend 2 days in Vancouver. Considering staying at the Radisson Airport hotel, any opinions? Touring the city, considering the Land Sea company, the Hop on Hop off Shuttle or the Big Bus-which one do you recommend to use? Need to get from cruise port to hotel-your recommendations? Also, when doing a cruise tour with Holland, how do recommend to pack bags for traveling? Thanks
