  1. Here is something new to consider using Flights by Celebrity if the costs are similar. (Click on the arrow at the top right, pointing to the right, to see the post, not just the start of the thread)

If you test positive while cruising you will be quarantined on the ship until the next port of call where you will be disembarked and transferred to a medical facility. Upon recovery or testing negative you will need to make arrangements to get home.

Do not cruise without a passport!

What happens if you are contact traced and quarantined in your stateroom until you test negative?  Is there any compensation there?

Expand first quote for copy of celebrity policy pertaining to being identified as close contact.

If you are identified as being a close contact to someone who tested positive, Celebrity will pay for flights only if you booked them through Celebrity Air. If you booked on your own, they will cover costs up until the point you needed to fly, which you would have to pay.

  3. We've generally have been doing the Celebrity ships recently for the reasons mentioned. Looked forward each night to fun at the Martini Bar on the S Class ships.

However, pre-COVID, we did like to book any new Oasis class, for the entertainment. We enjoyed the Broadway shows, Diving, Ice Skating, and Comedy entertainment. We also enjoyed the adult (16+) area, in the front of the ship, during the day; having a drink in Central Park at night, listening to acoustic musicians; and people watching on the Prominade Deck or the Rising Tide Bar.

Sorry to butt in but, for the opposite - sailing from Honolulu to Sydney in October 2022, cabins on which side of the ship will have the most sunlight?

    Try this site. SunCalc.org

Type in a location in the box to the left, or drag the map to the location you want to view. Enter the date in the box to the left, and used the orange dot slider at the top of the page to move the sun onver the 24 hour period

  6. Per the web site  https://www.sxmprotectionplan.com/  , Cost for those for those 15 and up is $30 ($10 for less than 15):

    • Effective 11 January 2021, a flat premium of $30 is charged for stays not exceeding 180 days.
    • The premium is non-refundable, unless you've made a duplicate purchase or if you cancelled your trip to St. Maarten.
    • The premium must be paid every time you re-enter St. Maarten.

Wonder if this means, just once, when you arrive by plane, then again, when you return on the cruise ship?

    WHAT DOES IT COVER?
HOSPITAL COSTS - Hospitalization expenses to treat severe COVID-19 symptoms, including specialist fees, diagnostic x-rays, lab expenses and nursing costs.
INTENSIVE CARE UNIT COSTS - Intensive Care Unit charges for treatment of a critical ailment caused by COVID-19.
TRANSPORTATION - Costs of specialized transportation of a Covid-19 infected person up to an aggregate sublimit of $350.
DOCTOR CONSULTS - Costs of doctor consults up to an aggregate sublimit of $500.
ISOLATION EXPENSES- Maximum sublimit of $125 per day, max. 14 days, in case of a positive Covid-19 test result. Preventive government mandated quarantines for fellow travelers and those who tested negative are NOT COVERED.
COVID-19 TEST - Max. 4 medically necessary Covid-19 tests as out-patient with a sublimit of $75 per test. Tests are only covered with referral from the St. Maarten Government Health Department. Mandatory tests required by other countries prior to leaving St. Maarten are not covered.
MAXIMUM LIMIT - The overall maximum limit for all benefits together, except Medical Evacuation, is $50,000.
MEDICAL EVACUATION - Emergency medical evacuation to the nearest qualified hospital to prevent loss of life, up to a maximum limit of $20,000, provided the patient cannot be treated locally in St. Maarten.

Today's PUP is available for registration DIRECTLY on the Celebrity website:

    https://www.celebritycruises.com/captains-club/newsletter/exclusive-captains-club-newsletter-september-2020

Some folks received an email invitation but Celebrity seems to be opening this one up to everyone who wants to or is eligible to register via the above link.  I did a google search and found it.  It is probably going to be posted in the Captain's club newsletter for September.  Those go out in email as well.

Just registered, It was filled earlier, but they must have opened additional spots.

  10. Cancelled our Jan 4 2021 Reflection cruise before final payment on Sept 30th, and received the deposit refund, and Premium Beverage upgrade refund to our credit card on Oct 6th, just seven days later.

Quite surprised, but only $82 total refund, because our deposit was only $50, and the beverage upgrade was only $32, (used OBC for part of the cost), so not a lot of money to be refunded.
