  1. hello ladyberard- i was looking to see how your group reservations went but seems we will be on the same cruise: (1/23)

way back you posted something about rotating dining and i was glad to see you were given the same info i was. We were the ones with a party of 22 (11 reservations) and our travel agent set up a rotating dining at 6pm for us. Chic/grande/silk/american icon

we reserved qos before the dd was announced and spent months trying to do reservations finally our ta gave us the option of “rotating dining.” we were very happy about this. We were told they would not show up on our cruise planner as it was done special through groups and our ta. I was told to send the spreadsheet they sent me to my group and tell them not to worry about dining from here.

Reading the forums i was getting concerned our dinners would not show up correctly (computer issues or something) so i wanted some kind of written confirmation i could print out from rc, maybe an email or something to confirm. (i do have ta email with dates and times but nothing from rc) i have been trying to get them to send something or even confirm our dinners and today i was told that the email from my ta would suffice and they cant confirm any dinners for our group because it is specially done from groups dept and there are on confirmations. They said, if my concern about there being an error on our cruise compass when we board i can use the ta email as confirmation. This just doesn’t seem right that rc can not confirm this information. I am really concerned that the group is going to get on this ship on the 23rd and not have any reservation and it will all come down on me.

Are you having the problems or did you get confirmation from rc? Has anyone had any experience with a large group and dynamic dining? The more info i try to get the more i worry. My ta keeps saying all is set/rc says the email is all i need, but right now rc can't confirm our dining and we leave on the next sailing!? Does not sound right at all. Any suggestions other then "it is what it will be" cause that's where i am now.

i do not have any written confirmation regarding our group rotational dining whatsoever.

  2. First, let me say that I am the travel agent for our group. So I am the one calling Royal Caribbean to confirm dining. I have called four times now just to make sure what I am being told is accurate since nobody on CC seems to have sailed in a group and has had this rotational dining supposedly booked by the RCI group coordinator. I'm hoping all goes well on 1/23/15. If not, we will just show up at dinner at 5:30 and hopefully get in in a timely fashion.

  3. I had the pleasure of sailing on NCL Epic's inaugural transatlantic from London to NY. On that ship you also made reservations for some of the shows. We had made reservations for Blue Man Group. On the night of our reserved show, the line you stood in ran basically the entire length of the ship. Needless to say, we did not go see the show. If we wanted to stand in long, slow moving lines, we would vacation at Disney, not cruise. I guess I am asking do you have to stand in long lines for the shows on Quantum? If so, I'm going to guess my husband and I will not be attending the shows which we made reservations for.

  4. I just want to know what time the restaurants opened so that on the first night we could go down to Silk at 5:30 and find out if indeed our reservations were made as I was advised by the RCI groups coordinator. As I stated, I was advised that the first night we would be in Silk, 2nd night Chic, third night Grande, and fourth night American Icon, then rotate through the restaurants again for 5th through 8th night, etc.

  5. We are a group of 10 sailing on 1/23. I have been informed numerous times that the RCL group coordinator has reserved us for traditional dining at 6 p.m., rotating through the 4 complimentary restaurants then repeating the rotation. My question is, what is the earliest time the restaurants open? Is it 5:30 or 6?

  6. Ok, for all you who have sailed on Quantum, do you have any favorite bartender(s), if so, which bar was he/she at and why were they your favorite? For instance, did they do bar tricks, tell jokes........or entertain you in any other way, and did they make a "good" drink as opposed to being stingy with the alcohol?

  7. I'm sailing in an obstructed view balcony DO. I was in room 6170 which looks like it has a larger balcony. Anyway, today I made a mock booking for 3 in a room (we are only 2) to see what other cabins were available. 6562 was. I called Royal Caribbean and switched to it. It looks like it has an even larger balcony than 6170. I can't believe all the rooms which are still available for my 1/23/15 sailing. And prices are considerably higher than when I booked. Anyway, I'm psyched. Looking forward to my cruise on this incredible ship.

  8. As pointed out in an earlier post, many bookings were made over a year before information about Q was even being speculated about. At that time, the push was to get passengers to book. No information was forth coming about DD. Passengers were either selecting MTD or traditional when they made their bookings.

The biggest gap was getting any information on the ship and what would be on it. Bumper cars was the one thing that was always put out there. Even the reserving of shows was not mentioned. Just as the assumption that there would be a main promendade and an ice show.

Definitely cannot shift the blame on passengers. RCCL bears a lot the responsibility by not giving information out. Passengers felt "tricked" into expecting what up until this point had become the norm with some additional features added similar to the Oasis -- not a complete departure from everything that went before Q.

We started questioning our decision about booking Q because of the lack of info first and then when details started coming out, we backed away fully knowing it was not what we wanted in a cruise.

I booked before DD was revealed and I chose early traditional. Because we are a group, the on board coordinator has us reserved for 6 p.m. dining, first night Silk, second Chic, third the Grande, and fourth American Icon, then we repeat the process. We are on the 10-night sailing

  9. I am sailing with family on 1/23/15. We are a total of 5 cabins booked in a group. I have called RCL on two separate occassions inquiring about our dining. I was informed that we would be dining together and rotating through the 4 main restaurants twice with 6 pm as our dining time. Can anyone who has sailed and were booked in a family/friends group confirm that their dinner reservations were taken care of as stated above? Sometimes the information which you get from the reps isn't always accurate. That's why I'm posting it here.
