  1. I have watched movies at night on all three Pinnacle class ships and I have enjoyed the experience.  During the day, watching and hearing is challenging but at night it is very enjoyable (especially when the roof is open) and often there are only a few people.  No one has mentioned the freshly made popcorn available for all movie goers and then for some who are passing by and just can't resist!

I can bring my own Earl Grey and decaff, but flying in from across country means every item packed is important. Does anyone remember if there was a selection of decent teas available on the buffet or whenever coffee is served? Thanks in advance!

If you are looking for decaf Earl Grey, unfortunately, they did not have it in October.  I use Bigelow Earl Grey at home and was disappointed to see it was no longer available so I will bring my own on future cruises.

  3. I was contacted yesterday by a PCC who was reaching out to us.  When I mentioned the slot machines in the Ocean Bar she was clearly dumbfounded and dismayed.  She got in touch with her colleagues while we were speaking and they either had not heard of it or had read it on CC.  At first she was not sure I knew what I was talking about but when I said I knew people on the current Rotterdam sailing and I saw pictures on CC, she was a believer. The PCC was aware that there were going to be slot tournaments on both the Kdam and the Rdam in early December.   She also suggested I contact Guest Relations who have a direct ear to Gus Antorcha.  As it turns out, I needed to speak to them about something else and shared my not too pleasant thoughts on the slots.  Please speak up if you are not happy with this current situation.  Silence is the voice of complicity.

  4. Just got off the Rotterdam crossing which was wonderful and thoroughly enjoyed the music in the Ocean Bar.   Today we cancelled a back to back on the Rotterdam in January due to the Ocean Bar's tacky transformation.  Sel de Mer is our favorite restaurant and now the thought of going to dine there is forever tarnished with slot machines directly across from it.  If this is temporary, please someone in an official capacity announce that before 4*s like us  defect to another line.

  5. I am also just off the Rotterdam and masks are also required for all crew and the way I look at it--if they have to wear them, I will gladly wear one as well.  And theirs is a much heavier version than what passengers wear.  I felt safe while on board and that added to the comfort level of this cruise.

And if you forgot yours when out and about , you were given one.  When we boarded,  there were four white HAL masks in our stateroom and many wore those rather than what they  brought on board.  Wearing a mask was small price to pay to be cruising again.

  6. Attended a talk with Seth and Cruise and travel director Rebecca this afternoon. They shared their stories about their lives in the midst of COVID  which were very heartfelt and real. Seth spoke of his time on Zaandam grand South America when the pandemic hit and instead of a 14 day cruise it turned into 37 as they were turned away from port after port. We are sailing at 47% so no lines and no rush for seats anywhere. Seth is feeling the ships will not be sailing full for a very long time if forever. Last night was a reception for 4* and 5* mariners in the world stage. Plenty of room. The new library is located where the Microsoft classes were  held and it is lovely. Live music in the Ocean Bar has returned and the singer and five piece band are excellent. I think what I am most struck with is that everyone says hello and is truly happy to see us and we as passengers who jumped through way too many hoops to get here, are grateful that we persevered. So very sorry to have missed Bruges but for those of us who arrived and went directly to the ship,  it was a great morning to rest and catch up on sleep. Beautiful new ship!

  7. Escargot, Dover sole and the little candies they give you in addition to dessert.  A wonderful space and lovely service always.  They used to have lobster thermador as a regular offering but on  our last cruise in late 2019, it was no longer on the menu.   It was a la carte then as well and is no longer--a set price now.
