Hard to take for many a German soul: https://m.dw.com/en/christmas-shine-despite-the-coronavirus-germanys-cities-are-festively-lit/g-55748935

Those pictures are hard to take for an American that has been to 5 of those markets when they were decked out! It is not bad in NH like other parts of the country but with Thanksgiving travel it is going to get worse! Everyone stay healthy!!!

Name what is in the photo. First guess the river. After that name the town/city/place.
The person one who first guesses correctly gets to post the next photo! Please, DO NOT POST any PHOTOS unless it is your turn.
This may be an easy one but it is one of my favorite medieval towns that I thought it deserved a little attention. 😁 Photo is from the Square and we visited on an excursion from our river cruise in June 2019. Hopefully I got the attachment right. This is such a great thread and thanks to all who are participating.
Maybe my favorite place in Germany!

How can this virus spread through a state that is so rural, I do not understand.
Some people in SD do not want to wear masks or social distance!

This will be the first time in 4 years we have not been in Germany in December via river cruise or land trip, very SAD!
A lot of "first times" this year... My best friend lives in Louisville Ky... This is the 1st time - in almost 40 years! - that I haven't been down to see her.
We were supposed to be flying to Bucharest next week for our Avalon cruise. Very sad when it was cancelled, but completely understandable. I support the measures put in place to try and get this dreaded virus under control. But, this is the 1st time in over 10 years that we haven't had a river cruise booked "next year". Hard to plan for "next year" when we have no idea what it will look like. I am hoping (but not confident) that we may be able to travel next fall - but wouldn't bet money on that.
I keep in touch with my travel buddies - as we do talk about what we might do (from a travel perspective) when things improve.

I will enjoy my nutcrackers and smokers from Germany and have hopes for future travel. This is the first time in over 25 years we have not had a least two planned vacations. Two canceled this year no surprise.

I like early December for the Christmas Markets (use to the cold)! We have cruised at other times, summer in Europe can be very hot. Did a Venice cruise late Sept. early October and the were having a heatwave. Mid April is a nice time to do Tulips and Windmills but can be very cool some passengers did not understand tulips bloom in very cool weather!

On our Baltic cruise a few years ago on the Star Breeze, one night was so rough it would have been hard to make it to the bathroom from the bed if it was near the window!

I am going on my very first Windstar cruise next February. I will be on the pride for the San Juan to San Juan sailing. I am so excited to try Windstar. I have only been on the mass market lines(carnival, royal Caribbean and NCL) until now.
After Windstar you will not want to go back to mass market cruises!
After about 40 mass market cruises we have not set foot on one of their boats since our first Windstar. Also love Uniworld in Europe. Our 5th Windstar in November!

I think our first was the first year Princess used the Tahitian Princess (?2002? small ship years ago it was one of the Renaissance Cruise ships). Two cruises on this ship, one on the Paul Gauguin and the Wind Spirit.

"Next stop, French Polynesia?"
Yes! We have done 4 French Polynesia cruises and Windstar was the best!

We are on the Yachtsman's Caribbean in November and needed one night stay in St. Maarten, due to a Holiday weekend we are staying at the Sonesta Maho Beach. It is near the airport and not far from the pier with what looks like a nice beach! We have stopped over in St. Maarten many times on cruise but this is the first overnight.
