  1. I don't even think that's a thing anymore for Carnival ships. I asked a similar question not too long ago and was told that they do not have the future sailings desk anymore. I have been looking at a Spring Break cruise out of Galveston in 2018, as well, and surprised to see that Royal Caribbean had some comparable deals, as well as NCL if you don't mind driving to New Orleans. NCL also had a special for "Free at Sea" where you get to choose two things between 5 option-- one of those options is the 3rd pax sails free! The other options are free open bar, free wifi, a few free specialty dining nights, and free shore credits for all pax. You may want to take a look. :)

  2. I was checking out NCL today and was surprised to see the prices pretty low for a Spring Break cruise in 2018-- which included something called "Free at Sea" where you can choose any 2 free options from: free open bar, free wifi, 3 free specialty dining nights, free shore credit (50 pp per shore), and 3rd or 4th passenger free. We may consider driving to New Orleans (we have only sailed out of Galveston) for the right price..... We love Carnival, but we are open minded to try another ship if the price is right. The perks aren't so great that we wouldn't try another line. That being said, we have no major complaints about the Carnival loyalty perks because wouldn't our cruises be more expensive if the loyalty perks were so much better?

  3. Not being critical (I'm not one of those CC folks who HAS to be right!) but if they are at 55 days, need 21 days to platinum, and you say 2 week long B2B cruises, the math doesn't add up to me... so I was wondering- do they give you more credit for days on a B2B?

I've never been able to afford one, but I can dream!! so if that's the case I might have to plan for a few B2Bs to get me to platinum!

I think perhaps they mean 2 week-long B2B cruises-- as in two 7 day cruises in a row equals one B2B. So 2 B2Bs would be 28 days?

  4. haha Yes, don't overeat just because you can. Don't worry about the shopping guide show (do they still do this??). You can also catch some of those shows in your room on TV.

If it was my first cruise, I would have started a collection of things to collect that I know are on every cruise. Like a magnet clip or shot glass with the silver emblem.

  5. I found a brand called TC Fine Shapewear at Dillards. They have a style called "Just enough" that is literally just enough to help with smoothing lines...I have the high waisted brief...it is very high waisted...I can pull it up to my bra. Anyway, I wear normal underwear under it and no lines show. I would say that wearing this style feels more similar to wearing a bathing suit or leotard rather than the intense support of Spanx.

I also like the Jockey slip shorts. Very nice. Especially if your thighs rub.

I may need to try this brand out. I have assets and spanx and essentially stopped wearing them because they flattened out my booty too much.

  6. Not exactly as wild as these stories, but I went on a Royal Caribbean cruise in January 2010 (7 day), then a 5 day Carnival cruise SIXTEEN months later-- saw the exact same older couple both times. I remembered them so well from the Jan 2010 cruise because they were playing the Newlywed type game and were a hoot-- had been married the longest of anyone in the room. They were adorable! Had to be in their 80s-- she wore heels everywhere and had jet black hair..... a beautiful spirit and couple. 16 months later I'm walking to my room in a hallway and I pass them by and gave a polite smile, and then I stopped dead in my tracks as I realized who they were... I turned around and asked them if I was crazy, but did they go on a Royal Caribbean cruise the year before.. I told them I remembered them from the newlywed game. They laughed breezily hand-in-hand, shrugged, and called over their shoulders, "Maybe! We cruise a LOT! Have a wonderful cruise!"

  7. *Knock on Wood*, I do not. I just have vertigo type symptoms where I still feel like I'm swaying for 3-4 days. Those few days after are worse for me than what I feel on the ship.

Same for me... this is the worst part is after the cruise. It also depends on the length and the movement of the ship for that particular cruise.

  8. So the Cheers pkg covers 15 alcohol and speciality coffees per day? How much is it per day? This will be our first cruise on Carnival. TIA for any info [emoji4]

It covers all you can drink non-alcohol. It covers a limit of 15 alcoholic drinks per day per person. It's 50 bucks per day per person and all adults must purchase for all days (including port days). We get it and love it. We take advantage of the energy drinks, better coffee, bottled water, and anywhere from 4-8 drinks a day. It's worth it for us, but not everyone feels it's worth it for them.

  9. Because my husband and I like to get an energy drink, specialty coffee, bottle of water, and at least 4 drinks per day (sometimes more ;) ), it was well worth it for us. Plus the martinis we tried at Alchemy Bar one night made up for possibly not hitting the Cheers daily price on one of the port days. Sure we could have purchased a case of water, brought our own red bull, drank normal coffee (what we did in the past)-- but we enjoy not being concerned with it anymore. It's really up to you if it's worth it or not. Eleven years ago when we first started cruising, our budget wouldn't have allowed us to do it even if it was offered-- we were perfectly happy bringing on our bottles of wine and case of Red Bull... And it was nice getting our buckets of beer (which you can't do on Cheers). Now, we prefer to splurge and get the Cheers package so that we can indulge and try new things.

I know you didn't specifically ask, but I thought I'd give my two cents.

  10. I overpacked at first because we went to dinner every night and I figured I'd be changing a lot. Now I live in maxi dresses, a couple pair of shorts, one pair of dark jeans, a couple nice tops, a few comfy v neck tees to throw on over swimsuit. Maybe 3-4 shoes. Okay maybe I still overpack a little, but I like options. In the end I usually don't wear maybe just 5 things. Not bad? I'm a work in progress.
