Bring a to-go cup and get some ginger ale and ice to add to a cheap red blend-- it makes a helluva tasty day spritzer on sea days. ;) I still bet you don't hit your limit as quick as you think. Especially if you spend time at Alchemy. Yum those drinks are TASTY but stout.

Not sure about the ports, but we absolutely love the steakhouse experience-- so worth it. Our server was hilarious and attentive... we ended up going a second time on our cruise. We usually do steakhouse or fend for ourselves at buffet/Guy's burger.

I think you'll be surprised how long it takes to get to 15 on vacation. We did the same thing by bringing a back up of 2 bottles of wine and ended up only drinking one bottle. To answer your question, though, I think the choices are the same-- but I could be wrong. Also if you plan on going to the steakhouse, you get a free bottle of wine on the first night and the first elegant night... I don't think this counts against your 15. Yes, it costs to eat in there-- but it's always our favorite experience together. I cruise with my husband, btw. Happy cruising.. Cheers!

I think a good number of people just like to feel superior.

Agreed. I think some people need to justify in their minds why they may pay more.
But, there are all types of people. There are CCL people who generalize luxury liner cruisers, as well.

You'll fit right in, and look great! Dark wash helps a lot, too.

161 and 290ish. First time ever to have 2 cruises booked and they seem so far away!

Hmm I think I read about the upgrades on cruisemapper, which I suppose isn't final. I hope they get the Alchemy Bar!

I would see if your companion planned to get Bottomless Bubbles if you didn't get Cheers. If s/he says yes, I'd consider paying the extra on top. You'd pay Cheers for yourself and just the difference in the price of BB.

I'm excited about this also.
I googled and found this
http://www.cruiseadvice.com.au/2016/11/try-carnival-cruise-lines-build-bear-workshop-sea/
Here's some more-- they look super cute!
ETA - apologies, I misunderstood the question regarding what the Carnival bear, specifically, looked like.

I buy strong magnet clips-- they come in handy in my classroom.
I also love to buy ornaments.
I also love cheesy stuffed animals, so I have a Funship Freddy that comes with me on Carnival cruises and the cabin attendants always comment on him and use him with the towel animals. I also put any pins I receive on his little t-shirt.
Not going to lie, I'm pretty excited about doing a Build a Bear on my next cruise.

I am all about the tankinis... I was surprised with what I found at JCPenney and Amazon. I have two pairs of swimsuit bottoms that I mix and match with other stuff. One is black bottoms that are swimsuit material but look kinda like shorts. The other ones are high waisted vintage style red ones. I feel like they both contain my lumpy bits... although my thighs are unavoidable and I'm not wearing swim pants.

I bring a large tote with room to put stuff we may buy.
In the bag is my crossbody purse, brush, travel hair detangler (AN ABSOLUTE MUST for me on beach days), deodorant, moisturizer, handi wipes, sunglasses, phone/camera, advil, empty plastic bag for wet clothes if needed, husband's wallet.... we used to take our passports but we do copies of them instead.

For a 7 day cruise, I usually bring 5 maxi dresses, 2 pairs of breathable capris/bermuda shorts, 3-5 fun or simple tank tops/halters, a couple of thin t-shirts. 1-2 pairs of dark jeans for night time with 3-5 casual cute tops. One or two dresses if we decided to go to dining room. We usually go to the steakhouse a couple of times and skip the dining room. I dress up a jeans outfit for the steakhouse (at least on the first night... I can't remember if I wore jeans in there the second time). Shoes-- I bring comfy walking flip flops, beach flip flops, a couple pairs of espadrilles, water sneakers. Jewelry-- I don't wear chunky stuff.. I have a few charms I switch out on my chain.

Red Stripe is quite yummy. We had Red Stripe Light for the first time in Jamaica, and I have found it here in the states as well.

Will be in 6507 in 29 days - will let you know!
I would love to hear more about 6507-- that's where we will be. We are easy to please, so not too concerned with not having a perfect "looking down" view because deck 7 sticks out, or the loud noises below us. We are excited to have our first aft balcony.

I loved Hawaii and I love shoes. That being said, the only shoes I wore during the entire two weeks I was there was flip flops, flat brown slip-on strappy sandals, and adidas water/land shoes for walking. When I went to the Polynesian Center for the luau, I wore a long strapless Hawaiian dress with my flat strappy sandals. The whole island is so casual, I never once saw anyone in heels, personally. I think I even brought a pair of espadrilles wedges and never ended up wearing them. Wear whatever makes you feel good and whatever is comfortable. Have fun!

Any time I book a vacation of any kind, I like to do research or look at pictures of my destination because it's exciting-- even though my eyes will be open on my actual vacation so that I can see everything in real life, as well.
I've been on the hunt for a Carnival Breeze Eastern Caribbean Fun Times because I think it will further excite me about my upcoming vacation.

I would love to see this, as well.

It was kind of a pain to get there. Went from ship to bus, bus to autoprogreso place with shops, waited for second bus to beach resort, bus ride took a bit. The whole thing took a couple hours. We had about three hours at the place. Food was not great, but we are easy to please. Had a good time, but probably wouldn't do it again. We did not do a lot of walking.

Had to look it over more than once to see what you were meaning.. you write the tip amount and then when you write the total it is the same as the tip so you are writing the amount of the tip twice. Because the drink charge is 0.00. I just hand them a buck or a two dollar bill and call it a day.
Exactly. Looks like you and I do the exact same thing, tip a dollar or two extra, but use a different method. I just give them my card and add the additional tip with a pen and call it a day. :)
I saw my husband add additional tip to the zero amount and then make the total include the original drink price. The bartender overheard me correcting him and told me not to worry because they were used to "that mistake" and would enter it in correctly.

You write in additional tip (if adding one) and then total it out.
Why do you write the tip twice?
Because the tab is 0.00 and if you tip 1.00, then the total is now 1.00.
0.00
1.00 tip
------
1.00 total
Essentially, writing the tip amount twice.

When ordering a drink with Cheers, do the receipts show the original price of the drink at all?
On NCL with the drinks package, the receipts showed the original price of the drink, and then a discount to end up with a zeroed out total price.
Was wondering if Carnival's receipts with Cheers show the original price anywhere on the receipts?
Thanks,
It has the original price with a zero total and a place to add additional tip and "new total." So you'd be writing the tip twice.

It's a real life drink for me, for sure. I always have those two ingredients on hand. :D I prefer the ginger ale 10, it's a little less sweet.
