  1. Will be third time on the Dawn and I can't wait to see the re-fit and updates made! Looking forward to checking out the new Irish Pub and other clubs as we plan for fun with friends and family on this REPO cruise! Anyone bringing halloween costumes?

Never even thought of it..................sounds like fun so I'll have to think about it. Thanks for reminding me:)

  2. Have considered MSC, but read lots of negatives.

We were bearthed next to a MSC ship (think it was the Divina and beautiful) in Cozumel and were amazed at how rude some of the passengers and crew were. They were yelling and laughing at the Jewel! Mostly in English, but other languages too and I won't mention some of the language I understood. Made a great impression.

Hopefully everyone in the Yacht Club is nicer.

  3. IMO travel insurance is a must. It's up to you who you decide to purchase it from.

We did have an onboard emergency on a NCL ship. What could have been a nightmare became a situation where we were completely covered by insurance. I will always to grateful to NCL for the professional and excellent care provided. Most of all the NCL staff was compassionate and made a difficult situation much easier for our family. The entire crew discreetly went out their way for us and refused tips and would say "we want to help you". Of course, we did leave more in our envelopes than usual.

Hats off to everyone at NCL!

  4. The Spirit has the hose hairdryers and I found them to be useless. Hot to hold, bath heats up and with long hair you still have wet hair20 minutes later. Hope the hairdryers will be upgraded while the Spirit is in drydock.

Always bring my own dryer no matter the ship.

  5. We use neon green straps. Never had an issue on a cruise, but the TSA lost one of mine when I flew (they inspected my bag) and that threw me for a loop.

I use neon green too........neon green duct tape! Trying not to think about lost luggage. DS is notorious for having his luggage inspected. Glad we are flying in and meeting up a day early.

  6. Yes within 30 days. :) Can I use the reduced price of the mini suite to cover the perks I already have with my balcony reservation?

You might be somewhat disappointed with the mini suite. At this point it appears you will lose your perks and only gain a bathtub.

I considered upgrading my cruise in October. My PCC quickly explained it could be done, but I would lose my freebies and ultimately the $$$ would be more than I was hoping for. Since we were well beyond 90 days she recommended keeping my original cabin. I liked her advice because she was working for my best interest.

  7. Hi, we would like to know about Sun cabin 0240. Any comment regarding noise, smell. layout, or anything you might want to share with us would be really appreciated. Thank you!

Try Googling "Norwegian Sun 0240" and you'll find some info. Good Luck!

  8. Hello, just wondering as this is our first time cruising NCL and been our honeymoon on the Gem, we are booked in a balcony cabin on the 11th floor but was wondering at check in, if there is the opportunity to pay for an upgrade to a mini suite or suite if room is available or am I best to call prior to the cruise?

Upgrade at check in doesn't happen too often, but it's not unheard of.

The mini suites do NOT include any of the full suite perks. You will simply get a cabin with a larger bathroom and tub on the Jewel class ships. The larger bath is nice. However, the tub is not for everyone. With a young child the build in panels on the tub make bathing more difficult. And, if anyone is short or has physical problems such as bad knees, back, etc. getting in and out the tub is difficult.

    Have a great cruise:)

  9. They do have a great selection of beers onboard you know.

Some might disagree about the selection. I don't usually drink beer so no problems. But DS lives in Germany. DSL has traveled quite a bit and both have been disappointed. If it's beer my husband never had a problem.

  10. This thread seemed like it could use an update. Would anyone have any information about NCL, but especially about the Epic, and the provision of church services?

We will be sailing on the Epic on Christmas eve/Christmas Day and I wondered if there would be anything because of it being a special holiday.

I read the previous posts about how a pastor could volunteer and just wondered if that were still true.

    Thanks in advance,

    Sinbad

On our Spirit Christmas cruise in 2010 there was a priest onboard. We did not attend the service. No "Catholic Police" in our group. Not sure why but we have never been a family that attends on Christmas. There was also a Protestant minister onboard.

  11. You might not have the option of the "traditional upsell" as it has been reported for Getaway cruises after Oct 29th, NCL is testing out the bidding system for higher category cabins.

I am sailing end of Nov and still to receive this email invitation, but it has been reported that several have, including those who originally booked inside cabins.

I am in a mini guarantee booked in January, so not sure what the criteria is for being "invited to bid"?

Good Lord! What's next maybe auctions at the dock for the Haven.

I've done a suite once and IMO the way the pricing is going it's not a win for the passengers.
