  1. I am about to book a cruise on the SP.  It will be my first with Windstar.  I would be very upset with a warm cabin.  I don't sleep well in warmer temperatures.  I am generally easy to please but when things start messing with my quality of sleep I am not a happy camper.

Good luck... When we missed Ocean Caye in 2019,due to opening delays, we were promised a future cruise credit which was   based on a % of our fare. Since we cruised Yacht Club.... I expected a nice credit. Of course we never saw it.... 3 or 4 emails to MSC and still got runaround. Finally a Rep said...we will calculate based on your next booking. I told them..no thanks as I book thru online agencies and just wanted a email with the amount so I could apply to the future cruise...never got a response and gave up.

I also missed Ocean Caye , same reason.  I did receive a future cruise credit and used it on a cruise on a future cruise.  It was a good credit like 25% of the cruise.  I was very happy.  Sorry that you never received yours.

But to the OP, I would reach out to your TA.  I would not give up on getting your credit.

  3. Just got off a cruise today and got emailed the reminder.  Decided to book the steakhouse for next cruise and now I can't.  Figure the folks here would know what is up.  I think it is fair to complain if the website is not working.  That is my opinion.  Especially when carnival sends an email encouraging me to book things today.  Hopefully they will take care of me tomorrow.

Damn. My plan was to preload Peloton classes and use those but I just turned off my wifi and popped my phone into airplane mode and you’re right - they don’t work without an internet connection. 😩

Try the LES MILLS free two week trial of their app.  You can download workouts and play later without wifi.  After the two weeks I think it like $15 dollars a month, much cheaper than paying for the classes on carnival.

  5. In December on the Legend, I booked the unlimited pass.  I think it was $69.  I am really into spinning and hadn't been in the last month or so because how bad covid was in my area. So I was super pumped to get back on a bike.

It was a bad experience because of the instructor.  I was upfront from the beginning that I was really into spinning.  I even brought my spin shoes.  I was given a schedule at the beginning of the week of all the classes.  The first day of the cruise was yoga followed by spin.  I took the yoga to try it since I had the unlimited pass.  Afterwards he tells me he thinks I have done enough exercise for the day and should skip the spin class.  It will be too much for me.  I tell him, "no, I'm fine.  I'm sure I can do the spin class."  Then guess what another woman shows up that thinks it will be a bootcamp class.  He asks me can we do bootcamp instead of the spin class?  Of course this put me in a very uncomfortable position.  And I said no, I want to do the spin class.    He did the class for myself and my husband.

I came back later for a scheduled bootcamp class.  The yoga and bootcamp were very challenging for me and everyone else in the class (except for the woman that wanted to do bootcamp.)   The instructor really didn't modify for the less experienced and really pushed.  I had  no problem with the spin class but it was ok nothing special and the bikes were not the greatest.  (I just came from an MSC cruise and their bikes were so much better.  MSC Seaside has a spectacular and beautiful gym.  It is a new ship.)

Then about Thursday he tells me that the schedule I was given at the beginning of the cruise was wrong and there would be no spin class on Friday.  So I bought the pass thinking there would be three spin classes and really there was only two.  Trust me he didn't get a tip.  I was not happy.

Basically this experience has turned me off of fitness classes on cruise ships.  I'd advise to meet the instructor and see if you like their style and you jive.  Perhaps ask if you can start with one class and upgrade if you enjoy it to the weekly package.

For the same money you can get a great fitness app like LesMills or Peleton and workout on your own and get an excellent product.  LEsMills lets you download the class and so does Peleton but with peleton you need an internet connection to get started.  And you can workout on your schedule.

  6. It should not happen.  I'm traveling next month with 6 other family members.  All eight of us are in YC.  We could have saved a bunch of money if could have booked one YC cabin and the rest of us just visit our  2 relatives that booked YC.    If you are travelling with someone that does not want to book a YC cabin, you can join them anywhere else on the ship outside of YC.  YC is for those that have booked YC cabins.

  7. Are there spin bikes in the gym?  I was recently on a carnival cruise and they had them but they were in a special room and only used during classes.  I would bring my spin shoes if they were for everyday use in the Seashore gym.  I will pre download spin classes on my Peloton app and bring them with me.  I don't think I'll be taking anymore classes for a fee because they weren't very good on Carnival.   If anyone has had experience with the fitness classes, I would be interested in your experience.

More items offered by Venchi. Noticed that two of the main dining rooms are closed due to so few on board this sailing. The YC restaurant has an offering every evening for dessert of the Venchi gelato and for lunch. For breakfast, besides the pastry and croissants, they have these very light and airy white or chocolate glazed donuts and even lighter creme filled berliners. (I absolutely cannot take two full weeks of this decadence).

Oh my gosh.  My favorite on seaside.  So disappointed this is not included with YC anymore.  I'm sure I will have a drink or two anyways.  Have you tried any this cruise?  I can't remember what my favorite was anymore.

  9. I’m March 2020 my Sister in law paid an amount to upgrade from inside to a balcony.  I think she paid $200.  This was on Princess.

In 2001 on my first NCL cruise I got upgraded to outside from guaranteed inside.  It is the only cruise this has happened.

I love to cruise. Many of you read my posts and I attempt to be positive and proactive.  After being cancelled over four times with all that goes along with that, I feel all of your pain. We did finally cruise recently just before this recent craziness started.

I love cruising and love the cruise industry.  This virus is not their fault.  All brands not just NCL are attempting to do business in a very strange and difficult time.  We as consumers, myself included need to know the risks.  I booked over a year in advance and had no idea of where the world would be.  It did not help.  Those booked on ships with entertainment or new mandates also booked well in advance.

This is cruising today and it won't change for quite some time.  None of us like it.  However the cruise company does not have to offer you, me or anyone else any refunds because they are following protocols or putting the health of their guest and cruise first. I don't like the result and neither do you.

If you have a final payment coming up, look long and hard at paying or asking for your deposit refunded. If you cruise, please buy great cruise travel insurance.  If you hate wearing a mask, for the future simply don't choose a cruise for your vacation plans.

I did something I never thought I would ever do.  I cancelled my upcoming cruise and my family and I are in the same self-inflicted lockdown we were a year ago.  We are older, in good health but don't want to take the chance.  "Just use good business judgement and we will all cruise together another day."

I think the short term future of cruising might be book at the last minute if things in the world are looking good. I’ve always booked my cruises far out.  Unfortunately I have the one booked on the Breakaway on the 9th and another cruise in March already paid for.  I never would have thought things would have been this bad when I booked them.
