  1. #9 is our favorite! Definitely go to the shore excursion desk and stand in line. Worth the wait to get the cabana you want. There is waiter service at the cabanas so you don’t have to leave your cabana.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  2. My DH and I have stayed at Tropirock in Ft Lauderdale about a block and a half from the beach. Reasonable and charming with old Florida vibe. You can walk to restaurants, if it’s open there’s a parking lot next door that sets up as an open air restaurant. So cool! Another is Village Cafe, is great for bfast and dinner. We have Ubered from the hotel to Port Canaveral, easy peasy. You can find my revues of the hoteL and restaurants on the site that rhymes with “help” under BethanyB.

    Have a great cruise!

  3. Thank you for a great review! If you cruise to Ocho Rios, check out The Blue Hole. My family went with Liberty Tours, had a car to ourselves with Michelle our guide/driver. What a beautiful spot full of waterfalls that you can jump into. Afterward we went to Scotchies for lunch and had delicious jerk chicken. Ricardo with Liberty Tours coordinates everything and was professional and personable. We had climbed Dunn’s River Falls on a previous cruise and The Blue Hole topped that experience!

Thanks again for a fun and informative review!

  4. You are allowed one 750ml bottle of wine or champagne per legal adult when you embark. Pack those bottles in your carry on, not your luggage. You can also bring cans of soda, juice when you embark, I think 12 per person. Pack in your carry on as well.

Tea is served on sea days at 3 pm in one of the MDR. Bring your own tea bag if there is a certain type you like. Pastries and tea sandwiches are served and it’s a nice break in the afternoon.

Your mom might appreciate the piano bar, especially if you know some songs she loves. Familiar songs can have a way of engaging individuals with Alzheimer’s in a very positive way.

    Have a great cruise!

  5. When my DDs were little we would walk them around the lido buffet before late dinner time. They would pick out what they wanted to eat and we would sit with them as they tried out what looked good. We would nibble off their plates as well. After a light dinner, they would have fun in the kids club while DH and I had dinner in the MDR. As they got older they had dinner in the MDR with us and loved ordering for themselves. I hope you have as much fun with your 2 year old as we do now with our 15 and 17 year old DDs.

    Have a great cruise!

  6. For me it’s to stay connected with my child who is staying at home with her aunt. I want to check in with her.

We have scheduled a time to call from the phone in our room every morning to our kids before they would go to school. It costs $1.99 a minute and we kept it short and sweet but it did the job.

    Have a great cruise!

  7. This is what I found doing a search on CC boards. I’ve emailed the maitre’d a week before sailing with my table request. Be sure to include your booking number(s) if there is more than one cabin, your stateroom number and your last name. Hope that helps!

    Have a great cruise!

  8. WAITER RECOMMENDATION: I have always had very good luck asking the waiter what is their best appetizer and entree and then getting that. One cruise we had a waiter with a good sense of humor who told me NOT to get one particular entree because it was very bad. When he brought out our entrees, he brought me two--the one I ordered (which he said was their best) and the one he said was awful and insisted I try it. Sure enough, it was lousy.

WARM CHOCOLATE MELTING CAKE DEBATE: With one scoop of ice cream only it's VERY chocolately--with two scoops of ice cream it's just right!

Good idea about asking the waiter for recommendations on what’s best and what to avoid!

  9. We were on the March 4 4-day to Nassau and Princess Cays. The entertainment was outstanding. There was an excellent house band that played in the atrium most nights, along with a 3-person string group and a 3-person brass group. Also two singers. Sometimes all the groups performed together. I would say it was probably the best house music I've experienced on a cruise. I was very pleasantly surprised.

The first theater show had to be reduced to just singers because the sea was to rough for the dancers to perform, but the Rock show on the last night was very high-energy and fun.

That sounds great! I hope that’s the house music when we are on Liberty in May.

Did you enjoy Princess Cay? Thanks!

  10. I’ll be on Liberty for the 4-day May 13th sailing with my Mom, daughter, my BFF and her daughter. I’ve been to Nassau a few times but this will be my first visit to Princess Cay. I thought about renting a bungalow but decided against it for several reasons. Can’t wait to check out the island! [emoji41]

  11. We used to prepay so it was all done by the time we get on the ship. We walk in the first day and when our room steward walks up and introduces her/himself we talk for a bit and hand them a $20 bill. We say “keep the ice coming and we hope to see you around”. We always get great service. I feel if you add a smile when you see them it goes a LONG way.

  12. We rented a cabana at Princess Cays last year. It was $199 for 4 people. The cabana itself is air conditioned, with a table & chairs, hooks to hang your bags, etc. on and a couple of small shelves. There were 2 loungers on the patio of the cabana and 2 loungers in the yard of the cabana under an umbrella. Bartender checked on us frequently to keep our ice bucket full of cold beer. We were sailing Princess at the time, but I would expect everything to be the same on a Carnival sailing. There are 2 sections of Cabanas. We did the first section - the second section was a higher grade/price - I think maybe adults only? We didn't walk around a whole lot, so other than the buffet & the cabana, I don't have lots of info.

Was your cabana closer to the snorkel rental shop /grill or closer to the bathrooms/volleyball/basketball areas? Did you like your cabana location? Do you remember your cabana number? Thanks in advance!

  13. We usually pre-pay, just to avoid a huge bill at the end (also why we pre-purchase Cheers). We make it a point to briefly chat with our steward on Day 1 to let him/her know we want twice daily service, extra towels, and a full ice bucket each day. And we pre-tip him/her $20 cash. In all but one case, we've gotten exactly what we've asked for, and we tipped him/her an additional $20 at the end of the cruise. (That one case where it didn't work out -- there was no extra end-of-cruise tip.)

We do the same (except we don’t get Cheers) and we have always had great service. We also tip out extra to our MDR staff.

  14. We are a family of 4 also. We usually book a Balcony for DH and I, then book the kids in an inside room directly across the hall.

Depending on the age of your kids this might work well for you.

We do the same. Two bathrooms is a win-win[emoji1303]

  15. If you are speaking about your Barclay card, I have a little over 4,000 points and checked online. There are no qualifying purchases available at this time. I think 10,000 you can get something like paying off some of your balance on your card. Hope that helps!

  16. My last cruise my when my Luggage arrived to my cabin it was drenched, the room steward said to get it together and go to Guest Services and let them know - They would wash the clothes at no charge. From that moment I knew that if the weather is questionable, I WILL pack my clothes in Garbage bags so that I don't have to go through not have any clothes to change into after traveling to the port. I will also put a dryer sheet in the bag so that the clothes don't get that plastic smell....

    Smart!
