  1. Great review! You mentioned that you didn’t see others handing out envelopes at dinner, but I want to tell you you’re not alone. My family has the automatic gratuities in place then gives out envelopes to the wait staff on the last night. Also, we give $20 at the beginning of the cruise to our stateroom attendant and $20 at the end, like you did as well.

You have a great looking family and I’m glad your family has recovered from “the bug”.

Thanks for taking the time to write your review!

  2. I was on Conquest this past thanksgiving and had dinner in the Steakhouse the first night. We were able to buy 6 bottles total for half price and the five we didn’t drink that night were taken unopened to the MDR for us for the rest of the cruise. YMMV.

  3. We always have late dining and I’ve noticed that every night there is a huge line up to get in the MDR and the doors don’t open up till the designated time. More often than not, we have a cocktail at the Alchemy Bar then head into the MDR a few minutes after the doors open, allowing the crowd to dissipate. I don’t think 5 minutes delay is going to hurt the rhythm of the servers but any more than that would make dinner run later than most people like.

  4. Yes, it is crazy & we live in a large city in Texas!!! Oh and it is public school! School officials say it is due to some taking advantage of the dress code & wearing shorts that were too short or torn or see through, etc. So yep, no shorts allowed in the high schools or middle schools.

Same here in South Carolina except the rule is justified by the administration saying it’s too distracting for the boys. Interesting, don’t you think?[emoji848]

  5. That’s the dress for the elegant dinner. I was just trying to find out about the regular dinners. My children won’t be at the elegant night, I assure you. If for no other reason than so they can stay back and watch their sister. I was just curious to know what it was like at the main dining room for regular nights, but from the responses I’m getting it appears that the dress code will vary as much as the responses.

How old is your daughter? I think if she’s 3 or older she can hang out in the kids club and your sons could either join you for dinner or have dinner on their own at the buffet.

  6. The "Three Bite" rule served me well last cruise and on many occasions. If you really want that high-carb item, rich dessert, etc. have it, but eat three bites. Eat slowly and really savor each bite. I find my craving is usually satisfied after three mindful bites.

    I do this as well![emoji16]

  7. I order the 12 bottles of water pre-cruise to be in my stateroom when I board. Makes it easy to keep to my routine of 16 ounces of water before anything when I wake. All sorts of great suggestions on this thread.

    Have a wonderful cruise!

  8. Weird.. John Head has my question posted to his page, however someone by the name of Mia submitted it and added some pretty rude commentary, ***??!

That’s so typical of the internet. What you asked is a reasonable question. I take a pashmina for indoors and a light zip-up hoodie for watching dive-in movies. Maybe bring a pair of lounging pants and you’ll be golden!

    Have a great cruise!

  9. We have cruised both itineraries and cruised on both ships. Had a wonderful time on both ships (Breeze was unique because we had a cove balcony) and I loved the Serenity on Sunshine. Itinerary-wise, we had a great time snorkeling with the turtles in St. Thomas and spent a memorable evening walking across the “floating bridge” in Curaçao to have a drink at a waterside table. I would probably choose the Aruba itinerary but you’ll have a great cruise with either choice.

    Happy cruising!

  10. The kids don't have to eat with you, you can show up at any time during that time frame and they will seat you. Here's a rundown of the majority of the food options and how they work

Nice video! Covered everything about Carnival dining. The room service advice of “a dollar per item” seems a little high to me. I usually tip $3 for room service bfast, which is one tray delivered. If it’s a plate of cookies and milk, $2. Bucket of ice, $1.

Love the ending of your video[emoji23]
