There was a recent thread by a HARMONY cruiser who had this dining package and he seemed to be eating at 2 or 3 restaurants each evening.  Posted great photos of the food.  I gained weight just reading his thread.  Wonder what changed in less than a month.

Maybe someone with a similar package couldn't get in for ONE meal at dinner if someone makes multiple reservations dining on apps and drinking in mulitple restuarants the same night.  There are only so many restuarants on the ship and Oasis class holds a lot of pax.  I agree the fine print should reflect any limitations.

There are many photos and videos on other sites showing the long line of people headed back to the ship and the really rough seas.  Last I read, they were not able to get off the dock yet because of the weather.  All excursions, cabana rentals, etc are being refunded.

Ugh, I'd be fustrated if lost the day and also had a long line to get back on if not needing to sail away.  I'd want to wait somewhere under cover for the line to let up before standing in storng winds and maybe rain.  Depending on lines I wonder if they might learn from this and evacuate areas at a time, calling for the next one after lines go down.  Oasis class is so efficient tho, maybe using multiple entrances maybe the lines moved fairly quickly.

  3. OK, I'm not techy at all, but why is everyone so excited about being able to use phone to open an app to open the door?  The key is easier to carry than the phone and while I usually carry both, I think I'd need the key anyway (DL or drink package).

    I may be missing something.

Yes, other Line’s drink packages are better but you pay full price for it. When I sailed the Bliss for 15 days the drink package for my wife and I was less than $500 for the service charge . Cruises of equal length on Royal or Carnival cost $1500 for the drink package ..... that $1000 savings buys a heck of a lot of bottled water and enough cappuccino to stop your heart. NCL’s free at sea drink promo is still the best value.

And an added benefit to just buying your coffee with the "savings" is the lack of line.  If it were included in any sort of package on NCL where so many have the package, the line would be crazy.

  5. I can see the backlash to removing D access to DL, to only D+ b/c of the numbers, and just easier for RCCL to make the DL crowded for all of them; accessible during the evening only to early arriving pax, no distinction if D or D+.

Perhaps, something to make D+ feel a little more special (especially those still upset lost CL access) w/o costing RCCL much, would be to give them 4 drinks over a 4 hour period.  D then has something to look forward to by turning D+, another drink and an extra hour to use it.

Just got off the Bliss from a 7 day Mexican Riviera.  As I was disembarking, I was thinking of how to describe NCL Bliss.

Tina Turner's some came to mind... Simply the best! Better than all the Rest!

I've been on Breakaway, Getaway, Escape and now the Bliss. The Bliss is the first redesigned ship and it seems like they were

listening to Cruise critic complaints.... too crowded and too smoky from smokers.

Thanks for your review.  Was it materially better than the Escape?  Aside from casino smoke advantage, I was considering doing Escape again instead of Bliss b/c didn't need the race track or laser tag, one and done there.  The enclosed area in the front of the ship was very nice but almost seemed like a waste of space based on usage on our caribbean cruise (I can see it handy for Alaska).

  7. I have a spring break cruise but not everyone is ready to commit to the final payment due this month. I see a lot of availablity (Escape) so I fell ok about canceling it even tho MAY end up on the cruise.  We just can't decide for sure by final payment date.

Has anyone else decided to sort of chance it and had good or bad results deciding to book closer to sail date?  There seem to be a lot of ships available March 2020 so I think it's almost silly to keep the reservation (not married to cabin location).

  8. Interesting.  I've never paid attention to blocks references thinking they were something really rare, for those with hundreds of points, didn't realize they'd be given before even Diamond plus.  I'm D+ and have never recieved one.  Do they have something on record about whether or not you've been given one such that I could ask about it on next cruise?  Not that I need one.

I'm guessing the authorities have seen it, since it was reported that it was given to the police after the incident, so that is how they determined the charges.

We can't really guess but if I were the mom I'd want to see that video so it should be shared with the family.  As painful as it would be, it's probably a necesary step in healing and moving on and if RCCL isn't sharing it then I don't have a problem with lawyer's suing to make it available.  Maybe it was the only way to get the footage.

Is it a round trip back to NY cruise or a one-way to Canada? If it's round trip you would only be able to board the ship in a Canadian port.

Wait, I was thinking it wouldn't be too hard to get to Portland Maine in the worse case scenario.  It is a round trip Canada cruise out of NY that has a day at sea and then stops in Portland Maine.

I didn't think about weird cruise rules, you are saying I couldn't join the ship in Portland? I'd have to wait to join at Saint John?  I'm rapidly losing interest in this cruise.

  11. I could use some guidance too since I booked a cruise out of NY with the Air and assumed they will book me in very early and if something happens, since they book the airfare, would help out getting to ship.

I normally do get in a day early but normally book myself.  Transfers are included on my confirmation.  NY would be expensive to stay a random night and just seemed easier to leave reservation alone and take the air they give but now I'm concerned.

If I add NCL insurance to the reservation before final payment (I assume this happens before flights assigned) does that protect me?  I.e. if miss sailing, they would get me to next port, Portland Maine? I normally buy insurance but not thru the cruiseline.

  12. It is so weird to me they didn't just make this change affective with new bookings as of xyz date and then pax would know when book abc rate exactly what getting for that.  Perhaps rates will go down without perks on these cabin types.

I bet they looked into it and it was an adminstative hassle to try to figure out which of the CP/BW paxs got perks or not.  Still, seems like they could have just "bought" soda packages at a minimum.  Interesting that they no longer think need perks to fill these cabins, some bean counter must have figured better to sell at a discount these cabins than fun the perks to get pax in them.

  13. Have all Oasis class ships gotten rid of the Headliner show or just Symphony?

I won't see Cats again and would guess many are in the same "boat" and would at least like THIS ship, which is showing the same ole CATS, to keep an option for a headliner show some nights.

This will help you select the best Cabana

We chose ours via concierge a week before our sail date

8 to 14 have loungers in shade, 1 to 7 have loungers to the side

I think that's a helpful image, especially now that I get which way things face.  Is there something similar for the bungalows?

  15. Refresh my Coco Cay memory b/c I'm pretty sure I read about this before.  I know you don't have be be in a suite to book a bungalow on coco.

Do they have two sets of Cabanas to rent; one set in suite area which can only be reserved by suite guests, and another set of Cabanas available to anyone to book online?

I thought non suite pax could book some sort of Cabana on Coco Cay so maybe there are suite cabanas and 'avail to all' cabanas?
