  1. 10194 is our cabin. You will know this ship better than the crew by the time this thread is finished. I guess a spreadsheet sticky will be the next adventure for someone. Thanks ever so much for your expertise

  2. We had a dining package last fall, were some of the first people to board and likely one of the first to arrive outside the Oceanview Cafe where the specialty dining table was set up. We handed the guy there our list and about five minutes later he had canceled the first one and booked everything we wanted at the times wanted.

Of course, then we had to go into the Oceanview to make sure our Premium Beverage Packages were working and then had to have some yummy food because we couldn't drink on an empty stomach. It's good to have a plan..... ;)

I like your kind of thinking!

  3. You are unaware of the amount of plastic material sea animals and birds ingest mistaking the plastic for food and suffering greatly when they do ingest plastic balloons, paper bags and straws. Plastic particles are now found in many turtle eggs. That is how pervasive the problem of plastic contamination of the ocean has become.

My daughter-in-law works at a sea turtle rescue charity. Believe me, it is not just a scheme to get gullible people to donate money.

Paper straws may not help much, but they are a start. I applaud Celebrity for making such a start. By the way, paper straws cost more than plastic straws which is why many restaurants and hotels (and Starbucks) still serve plastic straws.

It only takes one time seeing for your own eyes these sea turtles, manatees or dolphins suffer from ingesting plastic to make you realize giving up a straw or a plastic bag is really not that much of a sacrifice. Do some research before you start spouting off about fake reports!

  4. By coincidence, I just came from a luncheon where these were used, and we were all told to keep ours and re-use them at home. Something like this would be easy enough to pack.

I use these every day and they are awesome! Our town does strawless summers because we are surrounded by water/ocean. Paper straws work fine too.

  5. Just as an update for this thread.

We have just booked a cruise on Edge for 2019 rather than TUI..... we just trust the quality of service more on Celebrity.

If nothing else, am glad that this thread has given you all the chance to share many happy memories :-)

We are on Edge in 2019 as well. Very excited to experience a new ship!!

  6. Fewer Specialty Restaurants. Concierge cabins are larger than balcony cabins. Larger, nicer Michael's Club which is on deck 4 rather than deck 5. Blu shares Galley with MDR which makes ordering from MDR menu easier. No dancing in Foyer, but a separate lounge. Three banks of elevators rather than 2. This are only a few differences.

Nice to hear about Concierge rooms as that is what we have booked. Is Michael’s Club for Elite and above or just Suites? Love the idea of no dancing in the foyer. Is there a solarium pool?

  7. How far is Nachi Cocum from the port and who did you use to get there? I don't see it as an excursion on our ship.

    Thank you!

It is about a 10 minute taxi ride. There is a taxi line outside the port gates. Just tell them where you want to go and they will drop you off at the entrance. The resort will call for a return taxi for you. Seems like it was in the $15 range, less if you share with others.

  8. How does the Silent Disco work? Do you have to book? Do they run out of headphones? What sort of music choices do they have?

You don’t have to book anything. They give out headphones to everyone to wear. Hence the “silent” part. You can choose from 3 or 4 different types of music. You can change music by yourself with a button. Each type of music has a corresponding color on the headset so you can tell what others are listening and dancing to. When you get finished you turn in the headset. There can be a wait for headsets. Hope this helps!

  9. John Howell was our favorite CD with Celebrity. Several years ago, he switched over to Seabourn Cruises. Sadly, John passed away last year, at the age of 57.......

Is this the same CD on Celebrity who played guitar and sang and on our cruise dressed up as Elvis for a Rock n Roll trivia night?

  10. Yes you can pay your daily tips with your OBC. You can purchase a dining package for speciality restaurants if you plan to dine several nights in various spots. You could purchase photos or a photo package. You could do some shopping in the ship stores. You could gamble in the casino. Rent an Alcove if available on your ship. Upgrade your drink package if necessary. There are plenty of ways to spend your OBC!
