  1. How does that work? Surely it would simply make the next train fuller?
  2. Your loss, at any rate in terms of relaxation. For it is a holiday not a military exercise. I would wander off the ship, with a map, and probably see most of the same things. I must say I should certainly like to visit Zadar.
  3. I think in most of the places you are thinking about a tour is not necessary. We would just take the shuttle bus to town then wander round.
  4. I think London to Barcelona in a day via Eurostar is pretty brilliant, if you are able to do it. As is Southampton to Nîmes without going to Paris. They have stated at the start that flying is not an option. So there we are.
  5. The man in Seat 61 mentions changing at Lille for an overnight in Nîmes, enabling you to avoid Paris altogether. This leaves St. P at a doable 13.01. https://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm#London_to_Barcelona_with_overnight_stop_in_Nimes
  6. Lucky old you. We are on again next month, hopefully without the benefit of Covid. As there is another thread about this, do let us know what the party position is, even if you don’t attend. How was embarkation?
  7. I think it will be vastly easier to get between stations in Paris in an hour than to get to St. P by 9.26. I still think 10.26 is cutting it very fine, but it being on a Sunday should help. In any case you are very brave.
  8. Passport checks are done on board TAs. It is customs checks than can hold you up, but only quite rarely. Often there is nobody there. In any case Pushpit has effectively demonstrated how unlikely it is you will catch the 9.24.
  9. Looking at the Man in Seat 61, it seems you would need to catch the 9.24 Eurostar. I wouldn’t think that was possible unless you are very lucky.
  10. I would plan for a night in Paris. What day of the week is it? You will get into Central London very quickly on a Sunday, while, say, a Thursday morning rush hour could be very slow.
  11. It’s stopped me having chips on the side a few times.
  12. Have you actually tried it? You might be surprised, as I was, when I had it forced on me.
  13. It might not make much difference. For a lot of people timing is the most important thing, so they’ll pick a crossing that fits.
  14. Or, any rate, those who are healthy and wealthy.
  15. If they do manage to move to a system with no auto gratuities on top of the fare, and no expectation of tips, I’m sure many of us would welcome that, providing the staff don’t ultimately lose out.
  16. It’s not given by Carnival. It is included in what you pay.
  17. I would say that in the last view voyages before Covid, these events, such as they are, were spoilt for me by the surprisingly large number of passengers who continued to talk quite loudly during the Captain’s address. This seemed very rude.
  18. I think 11am is rather early, but I enjoy having a pre-lunch drinks party.
  19. My main reaction is amazement that anyone should feel strongly enough about these events that they are a factor in booking or not booking Cunard.
  20. Having been quarantined in one, moved from QG, so not at my best, I was extremely impressed.
  21. The OP is asking about Brooklyn not Southampton.
  22. For the sake of clarity. Amsterdam authorities are looking at ways of doing this. It has not happened yet, and may take some while.
  23. I think it has to be a new booking of equal or greater value.
