  1. Thank you all for your responses. It's a learning journey for me. My TA got me a better price than princess, but then princess had better deals, and I felt like I always had to check, follow up with my TA, and didn't end up getting the better perks offered. I guess the key is to shop around, or find an amazing responsive TA. How does one find out if your TA has a good relationship with Princess. ????

  2. Princess has their recommended flight times.

If your flight is before that time you cannot use EZ Check.

I don't believe that EZ Check is available to those of us travelling back to Canada, but I'm not sure. I believe it is only available for flights within the United States.

  3. There are different early walk off times so I would pick the latest one....if still available. Sometimes these are limited and you may not have that opportunity. However, depending on your status with Princess, you may be able to secure one of these spots. While I think you would have no problem whatsoever getting to the airport on time, provided it is also FLL we are discussing, even if you were one of the last groups off the boat, problems can occur. We were recently in San Pedro and had a horrible disembarkation. People missed their 3:30 PM flights. Now, those problems are few and far between.

To be on the safe side, I would request one of the later walk offs ... you would probably be sitting at the airport for a long time but at least you won't sweat it so much if there is a problem and you are stuck in line, constantly checking your watch.

That's great advice... thank you! I didn't know they had different walk off times. So if they have walk offs around 7, that would be a better option for us. I'll look into this when we board.

  4. Pre-order it online, you'll have a coupon waiting for you in your cabin.

Call room service and leave the coupon by the phone, and your fridge will be stocked with water before you know it. Less than $7 for 12 bottles, and you don't have to schlep it on-board. If you buy just one bottle from a waiter it's $2.00

This is great information. Going to pre order mine now. :)

  5. The conversion rate is the current exchange plus another fixed percent service charge. The 1.35 rate is for purchases from the Web page.

Thank you for clarifying. I didn't know that. Think I'll change my personalizer back, so that my bank does the conversion instead. In the meantime, I'll make sure I have enough of an OBC, so that I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks again... that's great information to know.

  6. Never the cruise line. Their service is based in Europe. Always let your bank do the conversion.

But if the rate Princess is currently converting at (1.35).... that's better than what you would pay at the bank which is now 1.40. Or, does Princess convert on a different rate when they charge your credit card.

In our case, we have chosen to estimate our on board expenses and have purchased OBC at a rate of 1.30, which is better than you can get right now. 1.30 was based on what the Princess rate was when we booked our cruise.

  7. We were on the same cruise this week. I agree with all of what the OP said.

In Crown Bay there are a very few of the "normal" cruiseship stores - a Diamonds International, maybe a Cariloha, and a small convenience store. Otherwise you are 1.5 miles away from downtown Charlotte Amelie. We chose to walk to Emerald Beach which only took 10 minutes (or is a $4 pp cab ride)

Thanks for the Information... greatly appreciated.
