  1. I'm on the same B2B, 5 day then 10 day. My flight this morning only took 1 hr, but I had to get up very early to drive to the airport so I only got 3 hrs sleep. Can't wait for an afternoon nap! I'm still at JFK airport waiting for the shuttle to the ship.

I spent 192 days on a cruise earlier this year and visited all these ports...but the sea is calling me again! I love the Regal and was blessed with an upsell to a Penthouse suite! Hope that shuttle comes soon cuz my eyes keep closing! 🥴

One correction on the title of this thread...this B2B cruise is from October 26 - November 10.

  2. When I was on Oceania Insignia recently, we docked at the Manhattan port for a day stop as well as to embark and disembark. A large NCL ship was next to us. We were told that NCL, which also includes Oceania and Regent, gets to dock there most of the time but that Princess and Cunard have to use Brooklyn. I loved docking in Manhattan (just a 5 block walk to midtown Manhattan!) and am sad that my next cruise this week on the Regal will have a port day and embark/disembark in Brooklyn...more complicated to sightsee and limits the time available to do it.

  3. While on the world cruise 2019, we got blue vinyl zippered tote bags...I was in a Penthouse suite but I think everyone got them. We got one every segment (!) so I have 7 of them...I use them for grocery shopping since our stores have gotten rid of plastic bags.

The cabin door opening feature worked great for us.

If you're walking down the hall but not going into your cabin, does the door automatically unlock? Or do you have to get up close to the door for it to unlock?

BTW, your comment says "door opening feature", but I'm assuming that you meant "unlock"...can't imagine that it would open by itself.

  5. I'll be getting my first Elite benefits on a 58 day cruise that I booked as 1 cruise, but it's also sold as 3 segments.

Will I get the minibar (or the coffee packages) for each segment or just once at the start of the cruise? Love to hear from anyone who's actually had this situation and experienced it. Thanks!

  6. I use a Primula Cold Brew maker and will be taking it on my 58 day cruise. It's not big and all I need is ground coffee and water. Coffee goes into the filter, filter goes into the pitcher with water and sits in the fridge for 24 hours! Stays fresh for 2 weeks but I'll drink it before that. Of course I'll take baggies for the used grounds, but this will save time and money, plus giving me delicious coffee everyday.

I still firmly believe that, if one is rolled out, the SE’s will be lucky to hold on to the current Elite perks and all other Elite perks will be downgraded. I guess I won’t be surprised if that is what happens.

In the past year or two, Oceania decided to downgrade their loyalty benefits in most categories starting next month (11/19/19). They added silly stuff (tote bag, hat, etc.) but decreased valuable things like onboard credit and spa treatments. They still have one of the better loyalty programs but are offering fewer valuable perks than before. I wouldn't be surprised if other cruiselines follow suit.

Hope you've had a wonderful cruise!!  We will be boarding Regal in NYC on 10/31 and are in a full suite.  We were wondering if you were escorted to the Concierge lounge when you boarded?

I'll be in a full suite on the 10/26 Regal cruise (got an upsell) but back down to a balcony for the 10/31 cruise...hoping for another suite upsell!😉

I usually sail in full suites and love breakfast in Sabatini's and club class dinners. But...I've always traveled with a friend and this time I'm solo in a suite. I'm picturing club class dinners being a bit awkward when everyone else there is coupled.

We're on the Costa Deliziosa for a "real" world wide tour. We leave Venice on January 5 2020 and return April 26.  I started a roll call but no one has signed on.  Sorry Cruise Critic, but this website is almost impossible to negotiate since it was "updated" a few years ago.

I 'd love to hear from anyone going on this cruise

There are 2 ways to find roll calls...one way works and the other way doesn't seem to.

Go to "Categories", scroll down to the Roll Call category, click on your cruiseline...when the next page comes up it will list all the ships...click on your ship, then the next page will list all the roll call sailings for your ship. Look to see if your sailing is there (there might be more than one page)...if so, click on it and start reading...if not, you can start the roll call or wait till someone else does.

I believe all rooms are based on (single Occupancy) so even though you are a single paying for a double you probably will not receive 4 cruise credits just 2. But hey

im wrong a lot also.  good luck and bon voyage

Actually, a solo in a full suite gets 3 cruise credits, not 4. It has me listed as getting 2 but that's what all solos get in any room below the full suite category.

any actual experiences appreciated whether you took the upsell or not ...

    1) How far in advance of sail date was the offer made?

    2) asked to respond by call or email ?

    3) where there plenty of cabins available , including other categories not included in the upsell?

    4) had there been recent price drops , or did Princess just go straight to the upsell

    5) direct or thru TA ?

    6) number of previous Princess cruises ?

4 days ago I got an upsell offer to go from a deluxe balcony to a Penthouse suite on the Regal for a 5 day cruise. Even with the upsell charge, I'm paying $1,200 less than the regular price of the suite.

    1...12 days

2...they sent me an email, but I was instructed to call them back and leave a VM...they then called me back.

3...I don't know, I didn't check. Was working out at the gym when all this was happening! But the rep said that there were only 2 suites available for me to get as an upsell...the one I took (Caribe deck aft) and an accessible one on Riviera deck midship.

4...don't know.  I only booked the cruise 2 days before getting the upsell offer!

5...direct - first time I ever did that! I always use a TA...makes me wonder if that was a factor.

    6...9

Will anyone be using a scooter or wheelchair?

    No.

I ended up booking a mid-forward balcony cabin on Caribe with the bigger balconies.  I have 2 cruises booked on the Island next year...it will just have to do.  Anyway, a cruise is what you make it and I've NEVER had a bad one yet!!  😉

One nice thing is having a covered pool...I remember using this area alot when on the Coral.

Yes, the Island's around-the-world (or smaller segments) itinerary is fantastic, but not if you have to do it on the Island.

Not the ATW 2021 or any of it's segments...this is a circumnavigation of South America itinerary in Jan, 2020.  No choice of ship cuz no other ship does it.  It's a once-done unusual itinerary.

QUESTION: are the balcony cabins at the back of the Promenade deck OK?  I'm assuming they are part of the remodeling that was done.  Most importantly...DOES THE BALCONY HAVE GLASS OR IS IT METAL?

If you haven't sailed on Coral or sailed on Island before the  retrofit you won't know the difference. It really mostly matters to those who have done previous sailings on Island or Coral. Ignore what is said here and have a fantastic cruise.

I was on the Coral in 2008...liked it.  So now what am I going to think??

    agree,

somebody please put it out of it's misery.

If you're tired of reading it, then don't!🙄

But I have a question as it's pertinent to me.

    Have 4 coffee cards:

1...old playing card one (Queen of Steam) with 3 unpunched spots. No expiration date.

2...New Grounds card with 4 unpunched spots. Says ship name "CB" and voyage date "7011", but I think it was the voyage number because I didn't sail in July, 2011.

3...A completely unused New Grounds card. Says ship name "Regal" and voyage date "1734" which must have been the voyage number.

4...A completely unused Cafe Selects card. The ship name and voyage date are not filled out.

My next 2 cruises are a B2B on the Regal (in 11 days) and then on the Island in January and February. Any thoughts on my chances that I can use these 37 punches? This will be my first Princess cruise since all the rules changed...hate to have wasted all this money!  Oh, I don't drink brewed coffee...just lattes or cappuccinos.
