Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you, all. We do tip above and beyond but most of our cruises have been on Royal Caribbean or Carnival and not as "high caliber" as Silversea. This would be our retirement gift to each other and I would not want to seem unappreciative to the crew. We are not wealthy and we are not living paycheck to paycheck. We would just want to splurge a little.
  2. Hello. My wife and I have been on sixteen cruises between five different cruise lines. Future Cruise Credits for Silversea that we may be looking to use. We have not yet sailed Silversea. I emailed Silversea directly asking about gratuities. The reply stated that gratuities are included in the fare. We generally tip above and beyond pre-paid gratuities on the other cruise lines. What may be a respectable "above and beyond" gratuity for crew members aboard a Silversea ship? Thank you, John.
  3. we are almost down to double digits!
  4. at this time....knock on wood...., no, i've had no other problems with them swapping out ships.
  5. i'm a little ticked off with Carnival. when we were notified that the ship was switched to the Venezia we were told that our steak house reservations would be transfer. after a few weeks i still did not see our reservations on our cruise planner. i contacted Carnival as well as CruCon (which i had our reservations transferred to and received double onboard credits). CruCon said that Carnival canceled our steak house reservations and issued a refund. i contacted my wife and asked if we rec'd a $252 credit. she said no. i called the credit card company and reviewed my activity, there was a credit of $168 on 11/16 and $84 on 12/1. my wife was looking for the full amount i guess. anyway, i was never informed of the cancellations and am glad i was able to rebook today. also, my wife is still a little pissy that i didn't check online EVERY day and get reservations for the Chef's Table dinner.
  6. i sailed the Costa Romantica and thought THAT was a glitzy ship. the Venezia looks so much fancier.
  7. i go to Ashtabula, OH to do some walleye fishing out on Lake Erie.
  8. i figured i'd start a new thread under the Venezia since we got switched. just over 9 months to go.
