  1. Oh ok well that makes more sense. I agree that it sounds like a crazy idea someone in marketing came up with. Thanks for the info.
  2. I travel all over the US and to neighboring countries like Canada quite frequently but none have been transatlantic so it’s all new to me and very confusing. It’s flight 4607 with Finnair for the 787 Dreamliner in premium economy seats. Then the short flight is flight 3014 with Iberia. But you’re right it says operated by AA. I’m confused. So it’s all operated by AA but it says Finnair and Iberia on it. I don’t really care which airline gets me there as long as we get premium economy seats and the price is reasonable. Ugh I guess I need to do more research to understand it all. Thanks for your help.
  3. I’ve been looking at so many flights, airlines, and times that I wrote it down wrong. Sorry about that. The first leg of the flight is with Finnair on a 787 Dreamliner (flight 4607) with premium seats then the second leg is with Iberia (flight 3014) with normal economy seats but you’re right, it’s all through AA. Okay so what is a code share? And why is it important to know which airline is operating the aircraft? I fly all the time but I’m new to transatlantic flying.
  4. Oops sorry my bad, the first leg is Finnair with the 787 Dreamliner in premium economy seats then Iberia for the shorter flight in regular economy seats. I’ve been looking at so many flights and seeing so many names and numbers that my mind is scrambled. I hadn’t thought of spending some time in Madrid but that’s a great idea, thanks.
  5. Check and see if there’s a couples thermal suites pass. Sometimes that’s all they offer if it’s getting full. And you don’t have to be a married couple either. It can be a friend or daughter or son etc.
  6. Oh I forgot to mention our house is right between DFW and DAL so we use both airports regularly and fly Southwest very often. I forget to clarify stuff like that, sorry. I was thinking about doing Southwest from DAL to LGA, staying the night then heading to JFK the next morning. But now the premium economy seats on nonstop flights from JFK and MIA are all sold out. And we need the nicer seats since my husband is 6’6”. There are a few sites popping up with us leaving DFW having a layover in Chicago then doing a nonstop to BCN from there but they’re a little more expensive. I found a flight I’m seriously considering. It’s with Iberia Airlines on a 787 Dreamliner with premium economy seats from DFW to Madrid. Then regular seats from Madrid to BCN. So my layover would be in Madrid instead of the US. At least I would be in Spain and not too terribly far from my final destination if something went wrong. And we plan on staying in Barcelona a few days before or cruise anyways. It was $1245 but I found a different site that had it for $1107 this morning. I’m trying to decide if I should book it or not.
  7. Oh that’s good to know. I have an Alaskan cruise booked in May and have the airfare booked through Alaska Air.
  8. Unfortunately I’m not looking for First or Business class seats. I’d love those seats but the price is just too high considering we are already paying for a 2 week cruise along with several days vacationing pre cruise in Barcelona. I think Premium Economy is more in line with our budget. The Finnair flight we are looking at has a 2-4-2 configuration for the Premium Economy seats we are thinking about. It’s aboard a 787 Dreamliner. I know some have a 3-3-3 or 3-4-3 configuration so I’m thinking maybe the 2-4-2 configuration may have a little more room. This is all new to me and I’m still learning so thanks for the info it really helps. I’m keeping notes on everything so I won’t have as many questions about future transatlantic flights. Now that we are retired we plan on traveling extensively.
  9. The Premium Select seats on Delta are already sold out for our dates. If they were available I’d definitely get them if the price was reasonable. All they have available is Comfort Plus which I don’t think is worth the extra money for what you get.
  10. I’ve been looking at AA, United, and Delta which all have nonstops from the US but they’re pricey and the planes are smaller. I researched Delta’s comfort plus and it’s not even comparable to a premium economy seat on one of the foreign airlines. I’m thinking I’ll probably go with one of the foreign airlines that have bigger planes with comfier seats and more leg room. Thanks for letting me know the price was reasonable. I thought it was but I wasn’t sure.
  11. It’s only for people on the ship and it’s very glitchy and spotty service wise. Sometimes your text goes through right away and sometimes it doesn’t go through for an hour or more. That’s why we switched to the iPhone WiFi messaging. We never had a missed text and they went through immediately both to our family on the ship and our family back home.
  12. Yes that’s what I was trying to say. When I said “all you need is WiFi and it’s free” I was hoping that it was understood that WiFi was needed. I meant your carrier doesn’t charge you for the texts since your phone would be roaming. And you don’t get charged for the phone calls or video chats using Snapchat either. Sorry for the confusion. I’m not sure about the voip.
  13. We had a WiFi plan. When I said it was free I meant we weren’t charged by the minute by our carrier for our phone calls or video chats we did through Snapchat. But you do need WiFi in order to be able to use Snapchat to do free phone calls and video chats. Sorry for the confusion.
  14. You just need a WiFi plan that allows you to use Snapchat and it will work.
  15. We are long time cruisers but have never done an overseas cruise or an international flight. But now that we’ve retired and have the time we plan on traveling extensively. We booked a 2 week cruise going from Barcelona to Orlando for October 2023. I’m looking at flights and trying to just keep my eyes open for something good. I think I might have found a decent flight but I’m not familiar enough with fares or airlines or the different types of planes used for overseas to know if it’s a good deal. My husband is 6’6” so for a long haul flight we need something a little more spacious. Business and first class flights have been several thousand dollars so they’re not an option. We've been keeping our eyes open for premium economy seats (or something similar) and one of them caught my eye. It’s from DFW to Barcelona with a 3 hour 20 minute layover in Madrid. The times are perfect, it’s a premium economy seat on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner with Iberia and it includes 2 free bags per person. The price is $1245. Is this a good deal or should I wait? Is one plane or airline better than another or are all premium economy seats and service the same?
  16. The flight we would be booking from JFK to BCN would be nonstop with no connections or layovers so no worries there. If we flew into JFK on Southwest on a separate flight we would probably stay the night beforehand to avoid any delays or issues.
  17. That was kind of what we were thinking. We’d rather be stuck in the US than abroad. We could probably get a cheap flight on Southwest to JFK too. DFW has very competitive prices to JFK. What is the difference between comfort plus and premium select? Is the price difference worth it?
  18. Oh wow I didn’t think of that scenario thanks for the heads up.
  19. The nonstops are out of JFK and MIA only. So I would have to catch a flight to one of those airports. Thanks for the advice on immigration in London I didn’t know that. I didn’t know about the red door/green door thing either. I’ll take your advice thanks.
