Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I apologize for the delay in saying "thanks" but thank you all for the quick and thorough responses. We really appreciate it! Also, I loved the tip that about buying it first at a lower price and then cancelling because I could totally see that happening!
  2. Am I able to call and get the difference? Sorry, I feel like I should know the answer to this and, for whatever reason, I am struggling to come up with the correct search terms to find the answer. Excited because we booked our first Symphony of the Seas cruise, but it is a ways out so trying to figure out if we're okay investing now and getting the deal later.
  3. That was what my wife recommended to me too...after we left the cruise. If I had it to do over again, I would have.
  4. Hey all, So, I completely fell in love with this drink two weeks ago but am unable to find a recipe that matches it. I know it has 3 ingredients (Bacardi Ocho Rum, Cocunut syrup and bitters) as we as two garnishes (orange and cherry). Any chance anyone on here knows the correct ratios? Thanks for any help!
  5. Quick question about this, should I pack the wine in my suitcase that I turn over at the pier or in my carry-on? Sorry, boarding today and just thought of this.
  6. I just want to thank everyone that helped here and talked me through this. We did the tests this morning in Seattle for a Friday embarkation and it was a breeze in large part to the help/advice here. Thanks all!
  7. Thanks a ton for posting this. We have a 12:30 check-in time in Seattle and I thought I had heard this same info somewhere.
  8. Thank you all, you have given us some awesome tips!
  9. Hey all, I haven't seen many reports from folks being on the Ovation lately. Was wondering if anyone has had a recent experience and, if so, what are some can't miss things that we should be looking forward to? Also, do we need to make reservations for shows (haven't seen a chance to) but we're in a Grand Suite and I know in the past that they had sections set aside for suite guests. Thanks for any info! Totally geeked up!
  10. Hey all, We are staying at Hotel Max (hopefully a solid choice) for a few days later this month prior to our cruise. Do you guys recommend cab, uber or private car to get to the cruise terminal? Also, if you have concerns about my hotel choice, let me know! Thanks to all the locals for the help in here.
  11. Great info in here. So, really stupid follow-up question (apologies to the OP): we have a Grand Suite on Ovation of the Seas in a couple of weeks and I purchased the Voom package separately. Should I cancel that as it appears to be a perk of having a Grand Suite? Thanks in advance!
  12. We just ordered the Abbott ones through the RCI link and ordered 2 per person. And it sounds like we just scan the QR code when we are ready in a couple weeks. Thanks a ton all!
  13. Thank you 100000 times over. I had seen that somewhere a couple weeks ago and have a complete mental block on where. I have screenshotted this and, honestly, you have helped alleviate some of my stress. Thank you!
  14. Hey all, I am finding myself getting anxious about how to do our Covid testing so I don't screw up our travel. We are from Chicago but are departing from Seattle on July 22nd. If I understand correctly, we need to have a test within 48 hours of departure and printed or emailed results available at check-in. I have heard a lot about doing virtual testing rather than in-person due to the time it may take to get results. What type of test should I be buying/looking for? Sorry, I am not normally an anxious person but, for some reason, making sure I don't screw this up for the family has me stressed.
  15. I think I'm echoing some other's sentiments but my wife and I cruised on Celebrity Solstice and greatly enjoyed it. We didn't have our son with us and definitely felt that it catered very well to the 40+ crowd. Since then, we've cruised RCI twice with our son and we've found that RCI caters much better to families. I think both give a pretty nice level of service, maybe a touch better at Celebrity. I appreciated the more in-depth learning opportunities that Celebrity focused on (Alaskan cruises) BUT I do think RCI brings a much more lively environment. The various boardwalk events (on Oasis, anyway), parties in the evening, etc. really helped bring a lot of fun, even adult-centered opportunities, to the boat. If it was just my wife and I, we would be coin toss between the two. With my son, hands-down, no-brainer RCI.
