For long time cruisers out there…. are these beds any harder than what they had before the comfy beds? We never cruised with those comfy beds but had no trouble with what Carnival did have in the 90's and up to 2004.
-
Angela12345- Thank you very much for explaining this all to me. We used to sail Carnival before we took a break from cruising. There was no early saver then. Lots of things have changed! Hopefully we both will be on this cruise.

In 2011 I booked a Princess cruise after sailing mostly on Carnival. There used to be threads there about how hard the beds were although some people were saying they were getting new pillow top beds. I had the pillow top and it was quite comfy. Now that it is a couple of years later there are no more threads about how bad the beds are.
Now I read that the Pride out of Baltimore is going to do some longer itineraries in 2016 and I am considering a b2b which would total 21 days. Yesterday after hearing about this I started reading the Carnival board again . To my horror I am reading about newer hard beds!! Oy. I am now afraid to go on a 21 day cruise . I guess the good news is that because we are so close to the port we would be dropped off so easy to bring along a mattress topper. Can you bring it on in a large trash bag or do you need to put it in a suitcase?

I read about this cruise today and am seriously considering doing the b2b also. I haven't sailed Carnival since 2004 so am unaware of the early saver etc. I hate to have things non refundable however we would purchase travel insurance and would need to do that shortly after booking in order to get pre-existing conditions covered and that price would be non refundable. :( This particular cruise is a one time only cruise so I would imagine the fares would go up because a lot of people might book this.
Anyone know how long this cruise has been available to book?

Sorry for what happened. Cust Reps should never be rude to their customers.
Did I miss something? What did the Team Lead tell you about your cabin ? Did they try to do something for you or just listen to the recorded call and tell you that yes the rep was rude.

xdudex - I'm sorry that you and others are having to go through this. Small children don't belong with older ones unless the people in charge are giving them suitable activities for their age range. It sounds like the responses you have received from the people you have complained to is less than desirable.
To some of the posters- yes… some school systems are back in school but there are loads of areas that don't go back to school til this week and even after Labor Day. It is still summer vacation time.

I'm also checking out just paying a cab. Are there cabs at the zoo for when we are ready to go back to the ship?
-
Living in San Diego, use the buss, they have good service and run on time. You will have a great time. :) This is one of my favorites.
Could you explain more about the bus? Where would we pick it up? How much does it cost? Any link to a website for the bus company? Thanks!
Also, if anyone is renting a car… where do you rent it from? Any car rental places near where Princess docks? thanks.

Nope I was at the launch of the Dawn Princess and they looked older than they do in that picture; suspect its from before then.
You could be right. I googled Lauren Tewes and found a you tube video from last year when she celebrated her 60th birthday onboard one of the ships. The video looked like a commercial type video by Princess. She definitely looked different! Also it showed Gavin Mcleod on a big screen wishing her a happy birthday. He too looked much older.
I'm glad they are all still alive and are able to all christen this new ship.
-
Wonderful!! (However I think that picture was probably from when they christened the other ship in the 90's)

Thanks all. We don't gamble so the casino thing won't work for us. Do they actually give you cash back now or mail a check? It is quite possible we won't have anything left over…. may buy some internet minutes or do a ship excursion in one of the ports but wanted to know just in case.
Thanks again!

Between my dh and myself we have a bit of obc for our Hawaiian cruise. Can it all be applied to gratuities? We have a little bit from the TA, some because we had used FCC and the good will credit that was given by Princess a few months ago when Princess in error had on their website that suites had unlimited internet when they didn't. We also recently purchased CCL stock so will get more. We don't usually have much of a tab after our cruise so I'm hoping it will go towards gratuities and maybe a refund check :)
Experts out there: how does it work?
Thanks.

I just clicked on the roll call link in the yellow. I see what you said about testing this out. Just above that is where you fill in what cruise line, ship and month you are sailing. It will then bring up a few roll calls (in my case there were 2 for different dates that month) and you can click on yours.
-
You will be fine, we take a 10:25 flight and have for many years.
Clicking for the 4th time. :p
Are you an airline employee going standby? If you pay for a ticket the consequences can be too great if you miss your flight. The main reason I changed my 12:00 pm flight was because I checked with the airline and if I miss my flight I am out of luck. I checked with my travel insurance and the same thing. You have to miss your flight for certain reasons and traffic on the freeway is not one of them.
OP - Princess recommends to book no earlier than 12:30. You are talking about 5 minutes earlier. I would book it. Even those of us who have a flight at 1:30 pm could miss it if the ship comes in late for whatever reason.
-
Pam, I too thought that :D
-
Just to be sure I changed my flight to 1:30 pm. I still get home the same time but only have a 55 min layover in Atlanta instead of 2.5 hours. We'll have to grab dinner to go as we are changing planes.
Thanks all!
-
Thanks Pam. I appreciate it. A lifetime ago I lived in the LA area for 3 years but never had to drive the freeways during rush hour.
-
Thanks all. Still debating what to do while I'm packing for a long road trip that starts tomorrow. By the time I get back it will be too late to call the airline to say its not good so I need to make a decision today.
-
Hmmmmm. How many of you who had no problem were going home on a week day as opposed to the week end?
-
We experienced violent movement and noise in F301 on our TA cruise on the Grand. The WS were added during a refurbishment and I felt las if our cabin was going to break off the ship. In the middle of the night, I contacted the Pursor and had someone check the noise. On another cruise, we were on the Golden in F311 and no issues.
And what did they say the noise was?
-
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll keep my 12:00 pm flight. Who knows in a few months it could be changed to later. If it is changed earlier then we have to do a different flight.
Also, I googled and found a site about ships in port. It has a few in January on the week ends but nothing for Feb or March 2015.
-
I just got word that my flight on March 4, 2015 from LAX has been changed from 12:30 to 12:00 pm. I know Princess says not to book flights before 12:30 pm. Will my now 12:00 pm flight work? How long on a Wednesday morning does it take to go to LAX from San Pedro? Do ships coming from Hawaii and Ensenada tend to come in late? (that one I know is rhetorical as there is no telling). I could change my flight but my options are either have a 34 minute layover (not chancing that one!) to change planes or a 55 minute layover(also changing planes) in Atlanta (huge airport) where there is no chance we could grab food as we will still be on west coast time and hungry for dinner.
Any thoughts?

We sailed in a WS to Alaska and also to NE/Canada. No noises and no one jogging upstairs that we could hear. The seas though were calm on both cruises. We will be on the Grand in Feb in a WS to Hawaii. I hear the seas can be rough so I expect noise. Not looking forward to it but at least I am forewarned.
