  1. I will be embarking on our second Seabourn cruise in a couple of weeks on The Pride, I just found out we will be in Suite 103, which is one of the "smaller" suites (according to the website, by approx 49 sq feet) than the standard ocean views. I booked a GTY, and I know that's the chance I took, so I am not trying to start another one of THOSE conversations, but there is very little info on here regarding anyone actually reviewing these suites.

So, my question is, has anyone actually stayed in one of these suites and was it really noticeable? I realize that we will probably spend most of our time outside our suite, but I am hoping someone with actual experience can encourage me that they aren't that bad ;)

    Thank you. Kelly

  2. I would ask which cruise line you are traveling on? I have been on Celebrity or HAL ships for example, and seen pants as you describe after 6:00 pm on non formal nights and they didn't seem out of place (especially worn with a fancier blouse, heels and jewlery), but I will be traveling on a Seabourn cruise in a few weeks and, like most luxury lines, any sort of denim or casual pants like that would seem out of place, except during the day.

Hope that answers your question. I like to dress up every night, but I realize not everyone does. I would defer to the ship's dress code per their website or your pre-cruise documents when in doubt.

  3. Nice review. Although I have yet to experience a "caviar in the surf" moment, I am anticipating a beach BBQ on our upcoming Spirit cruise at Prickly Pear Is. Just hearing others speak about them or seeing videos, as a industry professional, I am in awe of the hard work and logistics that must take place on an almost weekly basis to pull these events off!

The fact that you started your cruise experience with Seabourn, I'm afraid you have no idea how much better trained these crews are compared to the mass market lines - nothing like starting at the top :)

Also the point you made about included cocktails is a good one. Not only does it add to the overall ease of meeting others, it allows the bartending staff to take care of your needs and doesn't put them in the position of trying to upsell you the "drink of the day" or jockey for tips.

Can't wait to read your review of the ports. Welcome to Seabourn.

We are all entitled to our opinions, but sometimes these opinions are best left unexpressed, especially if they hurt others.

    Welcome to the internet ladies.

I read through the entire thread and I didn't find Ducklite's comments ofensive. I don't think she was saying that just because you are dressed in black you have "given up", but I think we have all seen dress pictures posted here that we would never be caught dead in for a number of reasons. Yes, we should all dress for ourselves and in a perfect world we would all be happy with ourselves and the way we looked everyday. But if you don't think the world judges you on your outward appearance, then you are being naive. Should you care? That's not for me to say.

  5. We will be joining The Pride on her Carribean skies voyage in a few weeks (our second Seabourn cruise) and have a couple questions for you veteran sailors out there.

We are embarking in St Maarten. We will be checking out of out hotel at 11:00 and are hoping we can just drop off our luggage at the dock with Seabourn and then make our way into town till official embarkation time. Will seabourn usually allow you to do baggage drop off prior to checking in officially?

We were really hoping that David E Greene would be our CD as we had such a good time with him on our last cruise. (Supposedly he is a replacement CD on the current world cruise). Does anyone know who the current CD on the Pride is? How about any particular bartenders we should look out for?

Any other info about the Pride in the Carribean or current reviews are appreciated. I looked at the posted reviews and most of the BAD ones seem very over the top and not at all like what we experienced on our previous cruise.

    Thank you in advance.

    Kelly

  6. I see above that it says the package does not include premium whiskeys, but what about items such as grey goose and other "top shelf" liquors? For those who have used this recently can you have your cocktails made with premium liquors or just the house brands for example?

Also, I like the idea of wines by the glass. That way I can have a separate white or red with different courses, but if the wine I would like costs more than $11, can I just pay the difference? Any experience with that?

    Thanks.

  7. We will be sailing Seabourn for the first time in May, 2012, and our final payment is due soon. If anyone has a referral coupon, we would appreciate it. I am also curious; what info would I have to send someone to receive it? Seems some people just want an email address and others ask for name, rank and serial number :). Just curious what the normal procedure is....don't mean to be paranoid.

  8. Thanks for the quick reply. Now for that rum question.... Any suggestions?

Also, do you suggest we contact a tour operator such as glory tours or just have the hotel arrange a taxi driver for the day? I realize when you live at a destination you rarely have the opportunity to book a sightseeing tour yourself, but maybe you have heard good things from others?

Thank you again for all your helpful info here on the boards.

  9. LOVE your photos...just looked at the entire thread :)

Question - we will be flying in a day early in jan 2011 before our windstar cruise and are hoping to hire a driver for a quick tour. We would love to see orchid world. Do you know if it is open on Sundays? Also, we would have loved to taken the mount gay rum tour but their web site says they are closed on Sundays. Do you know of another local rum maker? Or perhaps we are better off visiting a rum shop? Can you tell we enjoy rum?

Again, your photos are wonderful and we cannot wait to see Barbados.

  10. Okay, I am new to this but have read as much as I could.

I have been trying for a few days to get a resort room on Priceline for 2 nights (12/25/08 - 12/27/08)

I start with San Juan only (it has stated that the average price is $249) so I have been starting with $170 - denied. I have tried all the combos of zones and prices I could per Toonies excellent advice but nothing. Okay, so today (I waited 24 hours), I tried again, I always start with San Juan only, tried $175 as a starting point and it said I had already made that request (I have been writing everything down and I did not). I also tried today not just changing items from the denied page (you must change some item to re bid) but sent my browser back a couple of steps and started from the beginning to see if that changed anything. This time I actually got a "still working on your request it might take 15 minutes" which was different from the flat out deny, but when I checked the status I got a "you already made that request". Believe me, I am trying different combos of zones (always with san juan checked). Is that the problem? Should I try a zone (other than rio grande) alone WITHOUT san juan so I have even more combos? I can't change my dates and I have a pretty limited window for cost (maybe $30 difference) so what am I doing wrong? I know it's Christmas and I should be patient, but I see others getting great deals and I am hoping to get one myself.

    Sorry this was so long.

    Any advice?
