1. The back to back I was looking at sadly tuned out to be 2 of those super slow crossings(16) days .far to many sea days and far too slow for me..That said next years crossings now are up to 22 with the canceled drydock..the most since the slowdown/cut back of 2009-10..and thats good news..OM2 is made for the crossings ..not some port cruise,

8 days crossing is the norm today. The days of 5 day express crossing are no longer.

It's reassuring to hear the QM2 will be doing more transatlantic crossing .

I agree that the Qm2 is an Ocean liner made for transatlantic crossing.

I did a QE (Queen Elizabeth) last year crossing , and the ship didn't do as well

As the QM 2 , in high seas.

The demand seems to be there for crossings

  2. For a direct NYC-Southampton-NYC back-to-back you can book the August 19 eastbound followed by the August 27 westbound. They're both 8-day transatlantics, which could be seen as good news or bad news...

There are also some b2b via Halifax

Good news or bad news. , what do you mean:confused: ? Take the b2b or fly one way from UK/italy or

Usa as was done since time of transatlantic voyages

  3. I have noticed that Cunard has put a lot of Rountrip (B2B) from NYC and some of the voyages offer ports along the way.

I am impressed that Cunard has put New York back on their B2B schedule in 2015. Someone is listening.:)

  4. In case any of you are wondering why the QE is still at sea and not in Amsterdam, the port call has been cancelled due to high winds and it wouldn't be safe for us to enter the sea lock and canal. So we are now heading south down the North Sea to an area of better weather. It was lovely and sunny yesterday with blue skies. Very busy in the area of Dover/Calais.

Will be making some notes to put on at a later date.

It's because of the stormy weather?

You can always go to Amsterdan from UK

    Enjoy the QM2 at sea

  5. Yes, if you like decline and dilapidation.

Have you been to Cuba? You seem to make this off comment from a bias and

    Not even visiting Cuba.

As some members said here, it is a popular country to visit.

Europeans, Asians, Middle Easterns , Canadians, US citizens.

Yes there are Cruise ships that visit

So it may not be as bad as you make it

  6. How long before a Cunard ship visits Cuba?

    David.

Well Cunard is not American. The Qm2 is registered in Bermuda. Bermuda may have a relationship with Cuba. With that, the Cunard ships should be able to sail to Cuba

We sailed , a few years ago , on the Qm2 along the coast of western Cuba .

So close , we can see houses, farmland .

We were sailing to ft Lauderdale , Florida from Bonaire ,NWI

    May be a reality

  7. Hi turquoise 6,

    I note in your signature "2004-2013: QM2 transatlantic : 26 voyages".

What did you sail on for those "26 voyages" if not a "transatlantic ocean liner" .

What did you think of the differences between QE2 and QM2 when on board?

Thank you in advance for your help, much appreciated :) .

    Hello Pepperrn. Defender of Cunard

Those were the days , when The Qm2 had frequent scheduled transatlantic

& Caribbean cruises every 10 days from October to March. With some short cruises to Bahamas

Thats the way it was.(from NY)

The QE2 was smaller than the Qm2 ,and one had a sense of being on an Ocean liner. Also had regular scheduled sailing between NY & Southampton

The QE2 had a certain , "class" a sense of maritime history .

    Well.

I hope a give you some insight of my post

    Cheers

    T:)

  8. I must laugh ever time I hear Queen Mary2 is an "American" ship..CPCL is an international company..Cunard is managed right alongside P and O at the UK headquarters..The sailings from NYC have taken a large drop in recent years with less crossings and just 2 or 3 cruises...and the percentage of US passengers is now less than half vs UK and others. The "British theme" marketing is from the UK managment..I for one would like Cunard to go back to its Ocean liner historic style marketing as was done in the early years of QM2..

The plan was the Qm2 to replace the QE 2 as a transatlantic ocean liner. But?

  9. I don't know what will happen in your situation. However if people keep posting how they intend to cheat the system on a public website that the cruise line reads, we will lose the ability to bring any bottles of wine on board.

It's extra baggage and stress to carry wine on board.

I'm not driving to the jersey shore to a cabin, or the mountain .

I'm going on a cruise on a luxury Ship. Bars galore!!!!

I take the unlimited drinking package ;)

  10.
I would be a little offended with this response. Again, just my opinion, but they are not taking ownership for all of the problems that were of their own doing. I would expect a more forthright response to the effect of "we really dropped the ball and offer our sincerest apologies for the issues encountered by our valued customers...we want to learn from this experience and we are reviewing all of our customer feedback so that we can address the concerns that are within our control..."

I honestly don't know how compensation for all the issues faced should be handled, given the varying cruise fares paid, but I would be more satisfied with at least a 25% immediate credit issued to each passenger. That might make me think it was a one-time occurrence and make me willing to give them another chance. I don't think providing credit towards a future booking shows any accountability for the problems. Since I have no loyalty to any business, I would be less inclined to give them another dime of my money - I am known to cut off my nose to spite my face - and chalk it up to lesson learned. Again, this response would not make me happy but others may think differently and that is fine.
Very strong negative response . You were on board this voyage ?
  11. [

Low point so far was Grande. We felt the venue was a glorified MDR with subpar food quality. Lobster bisque was bad and the tiny shrimp in the "jumbo prawn cocktail" appetizer may have gotten even smaller.

Thanks for your taking time to tell us about your cruise. Was the dress code enforced in the Grande?? My husband does not want to wear a jacket, so I was wondering if any men just wore a shirt and tie (and pants of course)?

If you disliked the food do much, you good have disembarked at punta Delgado:rolleyes:

  12. Thanks Melissa.

I am feeling fine it's just sad seeing my wife so fed up! Little girl is ok also now. It's just hard to do anything. Our main problem is the cabin which is nobody's fault. Being on the bow it's like being in a roller coaster! And there is none stop banging all night. Had 2 nights now of very little sleep. We try to get down to the middle of deck 4 where the movement is far less

Hoping to start my review/blog soon. But I think if I sit down and start typing at length on my laptop I might start feeling it!

Just gonna relax today and watch the White caps out the window.

If it will make you feel a little better, The QM2 is doing the crossing to Southampton , and they hit very rough seas. The ship was rocking and rolling.

Hopefully seas will calm down, but Its good to see how this new ship handles very

    Rough seas
