We were in a junior suite and should have gotten the old twice a day service.  I’ve never heard of “no first day service “.

I didn't realize you were in a JS.  Yeah, of course should have def been 2x/Day.

The past few cruises prior to that one, we were in a JS or better - we had never heard of "no first day service" either.

For this one, we were in a balcony - and the first time we experienced the 1x/Day.

I have never even considered removing gratuities until our most recent Oasis cruise.  We returned to our cabin late the first night and the steward had not been there.  We had wet towels in the bathroom. I had left a note asking him to replace the duvet with a blanket.  Nothing done. Called housekeeping and they brought towels and blankets.

The next evening he knocked on the door and explained he had peaked into the room, but we weren’t there so he didn’t come in.  Whaaat?

He skipped another night and again I had to call for towels.  I complained about it when I called.

I didn’t remove them because I know it goes to many people and I didn’t want to use cash.  But he certainly didn’t get any extra and got mentioned by name on the survey.

This kiiiinda ties into when we were on Oasis in December.

This was our first cruise under the "steward only comes in once a day"... so when we saw him the first day (in the afternoon) - we chose that he should come in at night, when we're at dinner.

Before dinner that first night, my wife takes a shower.  So naturally wet towels on the floor in the bathroom.  We go to dinner, come back... bathroom untouched.  Was very odd.

Run into him the next day and I'm asking if he went into the bathroom at all.  Told us that cabin service starts on Day 2... and the first day is only very minimal (like if the bed needs a duvet, etc). Kinda surprising to us.

We didn't remove the (prepaid) gratuities, but since he did the bare minimum thru-out the week - we also didn't give him extra.

OP, I see what you did there.

    You got me.

LOL I'm used to it on cruise critic.

So many subject lines here are (first-world) deceiving; as-in not phrased in the form of a question.

    For example -

Subject line - Detailed reviews of restaurants on Icon.

Then open up the post... "Does anyone have any detailed reviews of restaurants on Icon?"

At least this one made me chuckle.

March 2024 sailing on Anthem here. Still do not have our balcony guarantee assigned. I was however, able to see the room number using the Apple Wallet “hack”, not too happy with it but I cant call Royal and ask them to switch until it has been officially assigned 😥

Same thing happened to me in Anthem in Dec 2022.

Was able to see the stateroom assigned using the "hack".  A decent location, but saw other cabins available (in the same category) that I would have preferred.  Tried calling but they couldn't do anything since it wasn't official.

2-3 weeks later when it did become official, no more cabins in that category were available.  Ah well.

Wrong and Wrong. Those stairs are crew stairs and are not accessible to passengers.

The deck plans also show stairs at the left/rear corner of the ship. Those too are for crew only.

    Ok thanks, my mistake.

Sincerely, someone on the internet who can actually admit they're wrong (and wrong)

  6. When we were on Oasis back in December, it was one at a time.

In 2021-2022ish (and probably earlier), if there was an additional entree that my wife and I wanted to share (Risotto, for example) - the waiter would bring out ours... then put the risotto in the middle - all at the same time.

In December, he would bring out the risotto once one of us was finished with our entree.  Came as no surprise since we knew this was how things are now.

  7. While I like it because I'm usually curious of winning Royal Up bids, along with the person's original/newly upgraded-to category... I feel the thread would be primarily questions; not so much results.

Or people posting that they won and that's it.

She is saying she has 340 loyalty pts. At this level solo get 25% off the cruise price. I pushed to get there. Makes a huge difference. Agree the new bookings rcl dropped many the code doesnt work, just have to try and figure in your head. IT at it's best.

Agreed about DP340.  My wife and I hit that level last year and we've already begun to take advantage.  We now contemplate whether two (solo) connecting-balconies are cheaper than one suite... and in some cases, they are.

Also 2 bathrooms and 2 additional D+ amenities (if we shared a cabin, there would be two total).

    It's the little things 🙂

  9. I guess if everything goes right, they can make it?

Sunday, Dec 10th... wife and I did express walk-off (Oasis) in Miami.  AT&T Cell service wasn't that great in the terminal, but managed to get in an Uber at 7:19am.  Got to MIA at 7:36am.

Even though we had TSA Pre-Check, that line took a lot longer than it should have!

(We originally had a 10am flight; Jet Blue changed it to 12p)

I did not post about it at first...just to be sure it all went well.  Very happy we were able to do it...we love our Grand Suites!  With this one for 63 nights...very comfortable!  🥰

I am blown away by this.  SO MUCH congrats!

I was curious how the World Cruise would handle the Royal Up's.  Assuming your original cabin was a JS or a balcony?  Is there anything you could share about dollar values.  Obv not your winning bid, but what the min/max was for that and other categories?  Again curious because it's SIXTY-THREE nights!!!

Congrats again and enjoy the next 61 nights 🙂

I wouldn't have recommended leaving a car at that location if it had anything inside that looked valuable or if the car was a desirable one.  I'm glad it worked out for you but that's not one of the safest parts of the city

Appreciate the tip.  We're of course glad (and fortunate) it worked out too, but will def be mindful for next time.  Not even sure when/if that'll be, since we prefer the newer ships - or as my wife says, with a Royal Promenade 🙂

Only reason we did it (in 2022, not 2023... which I wrote in my original post) was because Voyager had been on the bucket list for years.  Wanted to finally "complete" that class - the ship had been overseas for awhile.

Do they have a secured area for parking your car while travelling? Is the area safe where the hotel is located?

Honestly looking back, it was a regular parking lot.  No gates, not sure about security.  When we checked into the hotel, we had to indicate the year/make/model of the car.  The vehicle was fine when we got back; the area seemed safe.

  13. Last October (2023) before boarding Voyager, my wife and I stayed at the Comfort Inn Boston (900 Morrissey Blvd).  Left our car there for the duration of the cruise. $10/night.

Took the hotel shuttle to the port, I think there was a fee for that too.  I believe they also did pickups post-cruise if you call them, but we uber'd because it was quicker.
