1. The shower in the cabin is not great for anyone, but for someone of exceptional size it a challenge, but its not that bad after one shower you figure out how you have to work it. The bathroom door is also a tight fit, but its not like I cannot make it in there.

I've read that on some ships (some cruise lines) you can shower in the gym/spa area at no extra charge. Believe that would be roomier and more comfortable.

I can't remember which ships this has been referenced.

  2. yes that is where my fear comes from! Bless ur heart. I would be so embad to having to zig zag through tables as my tiny sis forget I'm quite a bit larger than her. I usually find myself having to squeeze between to arms of a chair but sounds like I should be ok! Thank u!

I wonder if you can request a table close to the door to eliminate this problem?

I will be traveling on my next cruise with someone in this same situation. This thread is helpful to me for that reason, and I might check about the MDR table assignment.

    Happy sails.:)

  3. No worries getting an inside room. Especially for a couple. Sometimes the prices are so low it's hard to not go that route and then use the savings on some great excurions! I would go inside more, but the diamond balcony discount usually helps offset the added cost. Relax. If the savings is significant go for it and find another "hang out" up top where there's more to see .

Even with my Diamond discount, I have never been tempted to spend the extra $$$ for a balcony cabin. I LOVE the inside cabins and have NEVER been disappointed.

    Happy sails.

  4. It's for all ages. One sea day I took DD-6 and the next my husband took her. We didn't take DS-3 but maybe this fall when he is 4 he will be more interested and we can make it a family event.

Here is my DD enjoying her tea. We dressed casually (well as casual as DD gets in a nautical top and custom Carnival hair clip that I made.)

    What a sweet picture!

On the Fantasy, we sat (again, in the Piano Bar) at tiny tables, so it was even more like a tea room.

  5. It is on sea days only in the dinning room. I wanna say its at like 3 or 3:30. Not new just not advertised very much.

On the Fantasy it is held in the piano bar, which makes it more special. Sometimes music; sometimes (thankfully!) not. It's a lovely occasion. You don't need to break up your day by dressing up.

Michelle is right - it is not advertised much. You need to catch it in the daily paper. Sea days only.

    Happy sails.

  6. YES!! I have been waiting for a review of this itinerary from someone that has been there recently. Great writing!!

Well, you get two for one then. You get a review of the itinerary from the BEST REVIEWER EVER!

Sorry to sound so gushy, but it's true. Shyhova has established a reputation after only one cruise and one review. We are all in for a treat!

    Happy sails, and thanks, Shyhova.:)

What bothers you about connecting cabins? I have never experienced any problem with them. Really don't even remember our cabin connects. Let me encourage you to take a chance.:)

  8. I'm on this same sailing. It's the second week of our B2B. We've had four price drops on the two weeks for an E1 for a savings of $794.00

Good to connect with you, Mango. I just checked again and see that a roll call has FINALLY been started. I didn't want to start it because I did not want to commit to contributing a lot at this time, but I have joined.

Our March 2015 Pride cruise roll call already has 129 pages.

OK - sorry for the short hijack of this great thread. Back to being excited about price drops.:D

  9. I need some help with basics, please.

Since my eyesight is limited, I don't search out and read all the newsletters and announcements from the cruise lines. That is why I value CC so much.:D

    1. Is the "Going, Going, Gone" format what we will look for in the future to see these deals?

    2. How often will that come out?

    3. I gather it is good only at booking time?

    4. Not good for insides (which I always book)?

    5. Good only if you do not use (at least at time of booking) a travel agent?

    6. Will these specials involve only cruises coming up in the near future?

I so appreciate the help I know I will get on this, so I thank you in advance. I did just log in to C&A but found only a newsletter.

  10. You check the prices by doing a mock booking of your same category stateroom on Royal's website. If you find the price has gone down since you booked, and it's before final payment date, then call whoever booked your cruise and request a price adjustment.

And to make it easier, get to the place where the price is listed and store it in your bookmarks or favorites. It will refresh itself automatically when you click on again. A couple of clicks and you can see if there is a drop (or raise) in prices.

    Happy sails.:)

  11. My inside on the 7-night Serenade cruise was so cheap already ($427) that I haven't really been checking as regularly as I usually do. However, I did look today just by chance and captured a $55pp drop. Unbelievable price of $374.

    Happy sails.:)

  12. The Seafood Shack has been rumored for a couple years as a possible venue change - one of which was to replace it with a Margaritaville. Haven't heard anything regarding the Donut Shoppe, though. The mention of the Solarium Bistro is a bit surprising, however, as the same venue is planned for Quantum / Anthem. Would seem odd to change it on Oasis class if it is planned for Quantum class. Just have to wait and see I guess.

LOVE the Solarium Bistro for breakfast. If it is replaced, hope it is with something just as nice.:)

    Happy sails.

  13.
As we stood there on INDY last month...we watched as perhaps 50-60 people strolled late to the locations for the muster drill.
Can anyone say "pier runners"? Or maybe "pier STROLLERS" would be a better term. It's kind of fun watching the pier runners, but not those who stroll in to the muster drill.

  14. I don't know the exact answer to your question, but I do know that we did a B2B in a guarantee cabin and were able to link the cabins so we did not have to move. I THINK this was on the Serenade, but it might have been the Explorer.

Hope it works out well for you. Having to move cabins - they say - is not that difficult; however, one of the things I so enjoy on a B2B is not having to do ANYTHING.:)

    Enjoy your cruise.

  15. Thank you for your replies I guess you can be as active as you want. Plenty of ideas now on how to fill the days and I better load up the ereader and get ready to learn how to just relax some too :)

Is walking on the track a no no is it just for hardcore runners. After looking at the food choice i'm thinking unless I want to roll off the ship I'll need to get some exercise in

A lovely quiet place to nap, read, etc., is the Viking Crown Lounge at the very top of the ship. Don't overlook exploring that.

  16. I don't know if our experience was unusual or if disembarkation from Freedom is always like this, but I thought I would post here.

We did self-assist and made a point to get to the gathering place early. THAT DID NOT HELP. We got closed in on by what seemed like hundreds of others doing self-assist. Not only were we blocked in the inside room but also people were feeding in lines outside the room, so instead of being close to the front, we were way in the back. It took a LOT of time to disembark.

As I said, perhaps this was an unusual situation, but do be sure to allow plenty of time to catch your plane.
