I’d be interested to know when you get your card, my husband been waiting 2 weeks for his card to come in the mail.

Of course having posted that his renewal finally is approved, that was 9 days ago and still no new card in the mail!?!?

His card expired Mar/21 and applied July/21 so 4 months after expiry and had he not needed to dig it out to use as picture ID for something non travel related he would not have even known it expired since like everyone else we hadn’t travelled since before covid (Nov/19). So I put a reminder in my phone to start the renewal for mine a year before mine expires.

Well my husband certainly didn’t get an email reminder of his card expiring I wouldn’t count on that!

Agreed, thats that I thought but I think some people assumed they arrive by air or by land fill out the app then have to fill out a 2nd one before boarding the ship eventhough they haven't left Canada since the original arrival. I think its just a confusing time to travel lots to remember lots of rules to follow I can see how people can be overwhelmed, myself included, lol

Thank you, it makes no sense to do a 2nd one once you've already arrived. I live in Vancouver and our cruise leaves out of Vancouver so its not an issue for us until we fly home at the end of the cruise, but I can so see how confusing it all is for people coming into Canada.

I was told it was mostly because his had already expired and it was like applying from scratch although we fully expected he'd be required to come in for an interview but with all the Canadian offices closed I guess they're waiving the interviews.

Hmm Having just posted, I may stand corrected I just read on another thread that someone coming into Canada by land border and staying a couple days pre-cruise had to fill out a second ArriveApp prior to boarding, so I'm not sure now. Taken from another thread: "Hi, I just completed my ArriveCAN for entry (driving) into Canada. Since I am staying in a hotel pre-cruise, the ArriveCAN website says I must complete a second entry for the cruise. "You must also submit a second ArriveCAN submission no more than 72 hours before boarding the cruise. This applies even if your second ArriveCAN submission is within 72 hours of the first submission. "

Royal's website also states that passengers fill out ArriveCan when ARRIVING in Canada, I think thats just part of their rules page just to inform all passengers whats required when you ARRIVE in Canada, not to depart.

After applying for a renewal over a year ago my husband FINALLY got the email last night that his renewal was approved and will be getting a new card in the mail with a 5 and a half year expiry date. He's a happy camper! We heard from a friend that because he didn't start the process till after his card was expired he'd be starting over including trying to book an interview appt but it seems that wasn't necessary.

There are a number of local drug stores offering rapid covid tests in Vancouver, Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmasave, London Drugs. I understand there are a few people going to the Shoppers Drug Mart on Pender at The Ritz which is fairly close to the terminal reasonable price and you can book online.

I live in Vancouver, downtown actually and I can tell you parking near the cruiseport is expensive. There is a hotel right at the airport where they do have parking also really expensive but you can check its called Fairmont YVR, but I would say your best bet if you wanna park near the airport is Park n Fly, they're located on the airport property and have shuttles to the terminal. There are hotels in Richmond where the airport is located you might find some hotels that are more reasonable and offer hotel shuttles.

who are you sailing with? I'm hoping someone chimes in whose using Azova with the green box kits thats sailing with Royal.

I have read on other threads that the BTNX kits (green boxes) we all got from the government and using Azova proctored website is acceptable with other cruiselines. Thats the combo we're using to board in Vancouver in Sept hopefully RCL accepts it too. Both my husband and I have emailed Royal asking for clarification and neither of us have gotten replies.

Oh god, its not just Air Canada, they're all doing it. I had a perfect post cruise flight on Delta from Hawaii to Vancouver via Seattle for end of Sept, booked it like in January, got an email that it was changed to a red-eye, um no thanks thank god it was fully refundable, cancellefromd got my credit back in like 3 days, then the fun started. I re-booked with Alaska Airlines also thru Seattle great departure time (noon), then just out of curiosity checked my account on their website a few weeks later saw they now changed that flight out of Hawaii to a later time so we now couldn't connect in Seattle to Vancouver since it was the last flight of the day, NO EMAIL NO NOTHING to notify me at all, Cancelled it all to re-book again, flying from Seattle the next day, so now had to book a hotel in Seattle! A couple weeks after that, they changed the flight out of Hawaii BACK to the original time so we could have connected in Seattle now but I'm not changed it back. Paid for the hotel in Seattle with pts so its only costing $6, leaving things as they are and keeping my fingers crossed! Now I check Alaska Airlines every day sometimes a couple times a day to make sure the flights haven't changed since they don't even have the decency to email when they change things! OMG is this how travel is going to be from now on???
