Check post #340 that explains why passengers are not in their cabins.
She just posted again this minute and said that the tugs are attached and they're heading to the closest port!

What is the vertical structure in the forefront of the photo?
We have a theory, but we aren't sure...

Is this some kind of marker attached to rocks?

We have family on board that we haven't heard from in a while. Where can I find the press conference?
One of our posters provided the link to the local news there that has a live feed. Prayers for your family. https://www.nrk.no/

My experience on the Polar Star in the Antarctic taught me to respect all of the safety precautions in place. Three years later the Polar Star hit a rock in the South Atlantic, passengers evacuated, the crew abandoned in the Canary Islands and the company bankrupted. I’ll take safety and the courage of everyone engaged in a rescue over a future cruise credit any day. My next muster in two weeks will have special meaning. My thoughts are with the passengers, crew, heroic rescuers and random people of Norway that will open their hearts in a difficult situation.
You are so correct! After the Concordia, I pay attention at Muster Drill, locate my life jacket in my cabin so I can find it in the dark and keep my phone, id and a credit card on me at all times. Prayers for everyone as it gets dark in Norway.

Oh...scary stuff. I believe they are up there on a "Northern Lights" cruise.
Our prayers are with the passengers and crew that they will all be safe, warm and comfortable very soon.
Yes - it appears to be the tail end of a 13 night Northern Light cruise.

From Norwegian news on TV right now: They have now managed to start one of the engines, but are still awaiting evacuation of all 1300 people on board (that number includes both passengers and crew). Because of the stormy weather several sea rescue boats just had to turn around without reaching the cruise ship.
Since you are in Norway, please , can you keep us apprised of the situation by posting regularly? Thank you so much for being our eyes and ears across the pond....and Godspeed to the rescuers, crew and passengers.

Thank you! That makes me feel so much better. Like I said, his communication thus far has been fantastic. I look forward to a great excursion and being able to write a glowing review when we return. Thanks again for your time!

With the latest changes to all cabins, I would think that the OVs would now all be standardized. Will be interesting to see.
I understand that they are not changing out the windows in the OV so what was there still is. Also those new Cat 6 OV on that side of ship on 3 are slightly smaller according to deck pics.

THANK YOU for posting this! The chair looks different from the ones in the other cabins (but it's still a chair, not a loveseat like it used to be.)
Realize that window is not one of the extra big windows like on the other side. I am always in the "newer" oceanviews on the other side. These are standard size OV windows.

What kind of shower products do they have? Is it the CO Bigalo ones or Elemis?

Hello - I have a question on the Go Bigelow products. Previously Celebrity used a different brand in the verandah cabins on M class ships. Do you think this brand will be in all cabins now or only Suites? I did not like the old stuff at all and brought my own. It wd be great to know we have something that smells nicer for a two week cruise. Thank you!

Ha, I don't like it at all, but at least it is distracting and deincentivizing to buy from Park West Gallery. 🤣
OK so I love this carpet! Partly because it is elegant but also because it is so modern compared to what you see on most ships.

Jumping in on this thread, as I am anxiously waiting reviews on the new AQ cabins on Deck 10. We have one booked for the Summit later this year.
I did an “overlay” of Decks 11 and 10, aligning both deck plans via what I thought would be the most accurate alignment - the “elevators” - LOL! Take this with a grain of salt! But, if close or nearly close - then #1024 is beneath the Atrium and public deck. #1018/#1020 beneath the Gents washroom. Anyone have any experience being beneath a public washroom?
We have chosen #1016 to date, which is the first cabin beneath the Lounge.
HeatherHi Heather! Good to see you are going on Summit again! So am I! I am the one that went on the boat with you over to St John this past Nov. We are on a back to back the first two weeks in November. As far as being under a restroom, I have been under the men's restroom on Summitt twice. I was in an Aqua on 9 directly under the men's room on 10 that is near the pool. Was worried I wd hear a lot of water type noises. I never heard a peep. Another time I was under a restroom when on 3 and again I heard nothing. I would not worry! Those new Aqua rooms are so great and convenient to pool and OV. Look forward to seeing more pics of all the cabins!

You need to arrive at SJ airport 2.5 to 3 hrs early. Never attempt to fly out before noon.

Yes - was just on Nov 2018 and they now have muster at 4:45 which half the ship missed. When I asked why, they sd so it did not disrupt dinners. Seems the next day the passengers that missed had to report to the celebrity theatre for the make-up session. So if you go into Old SanJuan, be sure and get back by about 4:15.

when are you sailing? Everything is being redone in March 2019

I have brought limes on before to out in my water that I drink at the pool. Just cannot take them back off.

I want to pick everyone's brain as to two types of cabins we are usually in. Family View aft wrap - do we think it will remain the same size as far as the two separate rooms and the massive balcony? And "new" oceanview rooms that were added about 6 years ago on deck 3. We love those OV cabins as the windows are much larger than regular OV rooms. But the windows are seriously rusted and you can't hardly see out them. Do you think the windows will be replaced for better visibility? I know it is all speculation, but it is fun to guess!

DO NOT BOOK 9100! A couple of years ago I booked an Aqua guarantee at an amazing price. I got assigned 9100. I found pictures on-line and the balcony is pretty unusable. Two chairs cannot comfortably be out there. Balcony is on a diagonal with the suite next door looking straight into not just the balcony but your room, You wd have to keep drapes drawn. I was lucky and Celebrity moved me to another room with a normal balcony. But again, 9th deck Aqua are under a huge overhand. If anything, these cabins shd all be discounted as I believe their location and the huge overhand is a big negative. I would not book deck 9 unless it is one on the aft looking at the wake. Went to Blu only once as we found the menu very limited. We much prefer the Main Dining Room where it is more social.
